He said that your first day filming felt like a first date
0:03
Have you heard that? No. He said it. My bicep retracted to my shoulder, so I had to have surgery
0:10
It was pretty rough, and I won't, you know, I'm going to spare the details because there's a lot of details that I'm sure people don't want to hear
0:16
I couldn't wait to just get in there and excavate this character and discover who this man is, what he represents and what he stands for
0:23
within the context of my truth in portraying him. So what a joy it is and an honor as well
0:30
Aaron Biel, welcome to Heart. How are you, my darling? Thank you so much. I am wonderful this morning
0:35
How are you? I am very good, my love. Congratulations on lanterns, by the way
0:39
Coming out in full force and the DC Universe as well. It's time to get up, Junior
0:48
All right, new lesson. Take the ring. You fly. Just fly. I'm sorry
0:54
Fly, please. How are you feeling about getting the call up for this one
1:00
Oh, I mean, it was a beautiful moment. It was a dream realized
1:05
And, you know, I say this a lot. I immediately recognized the enormity and the magnitude of this responsibility
1:12
And I felt it. I felt the weight of that in the most healthy way, you know. And I think also in equal parts, married with that was just this immense excitement
1:19
and energy and passion that I have for the character. And I just enjoy
1:24
I couldn't wait to just get in there and excavate this character
1:28
and discover who this man is, what he represents, and what he stands for within the context of my truth in portraying him
1:36
So what a joy it is and an honor as well. I think this is more than just a feeling
1:42
This is a threat no one's ever seen before. What do you know about Manhunters
1:52
Where'd you hear that word? So when you looked at that script, you looked at the character
2:00
you fell in love with the character Yes What was your first reaction when you actually got the part Where were you and what were you doing Take me back to that moment Where was I when I actually got the role
2:12
I think I was just I think I was doing something very normal. I think I was in my apartment
2:17
and I got the call from my team and every time I've gotten a major role in my life I've always
2:25
been doing something seemingly just very calm and relaxed and normal and that in my opinion
2:31
makes it even more special because I've always been in a context where I've been able to really
2:36
understand the magnitude of what's just happened to me you know what I mean so it's been a joy
2:42
it's been a joy to go from project to project and be working each time on projects that I'm
2:48
deeply deeply passionate about Do you resent pal Jordan? The ring's always been mine
3:04
And Jordan's just keeping it warm. In my opinion, subjective opinion, it would be wrong for me to do anything
3:16
other than pour myself into this opportunity and give everything I can. I'm throwing a kitchen sink out
3:21
I think I've fallen in love with you now. What are you doing to me
3:26
Thanks, babes. No, thank you. No, really, thank you. I mean, this interview's not going to go very well, is it
3:34
I'm all over the place. Now, let's talk about your partner in crime, Kyle Chandler
3:39
Now, listen, I've heard that he said... Have you met Kyle yet? I haven't
3:43
I really want to, though. It would have been great to have the both of you together. It would have been chaos
3:48
Something, yeah. Now, he said that your first day filming felt like a first date
3:54
Have you heard that? No. He said it. How did you get that chemistry
4:00
How do you do it? Do you go out and have dinners? Do you stay at each other's houses
4:04
How does it work to have that chemistry? That a really great question I mean the first time we met was I think we had done maybe a little bit of gosh it was either the table read or we had done some like workshopping around the table
4:18
just table work. Either way it goes. The first time we met
4:22
you know, I knew immediately that I had a partner. I had an outstanding collaborative creative partner
4:30
That was off the bat. I knew that immediately. But what does take time is developing a friendship for anybody
4:37
um that takes time you know it takes time to to learn somebody to understand somebody to comprehend
4:43
somebody and their experiences and how that led to who they are today etc etc you know so we we
4:49
we didn't rush that process we allowed that process to be organic and it was a beautiful
4:54
beautiful experience and process and now kyle and i are very dear friends that's a brother of mine
4:58
sometimes our friendship leaks into uncle and nephew um but for the most part it's a brotherly
5:05
love thing and when I do become his nephew I know I'm his favorite nephew
5:09
my replacement in brightest day
5:20
in blackest night and a weevil shall escape my sight let those who worship
5:31
be this night Now, what's all of this I hear about there being a major injury whilst auditioning
5:41
Oh, yeah, that was a really pivotal moment for me. So I was, I train a lot and I had a moment where my tendon separated from the bone entirely
5:53
Wait, but how? Like, what was you doing? I was training and it just went and my bicep retracted to my shoulder
6:00
So I had to have surgery. It was pretty rough and I won't, you know, I'm going to spare the details
6:04
because there's a lot of details that I'm sure people don't want to hear. You know, I found out that I had my final callback
6:11
You know, at that time, it was the final two three whatever it was And my team called me and they said listen are you in you are you in shape enough are you fit enough healthy enough to go in here and and audition for the role you know you
6:23
in the final stage I said of course no question you know like I'm I'm going in so I went in there
6:28
with my brace you know I had no super nation pro nation I had one of those things that you have to
6:33
increase the degree that you can extend your arm over the course of six months or whatever it was
6:38
but I just went in there with my brace and we had a blast with it, you know
6:42
That's the way my brain is wired anyway, but there was a moment where I went, what would Jon Stewart do
6:46
Jon's going to get the job done, you know what I mean? So I took inspiration from him
6:52
It's you. You're actually talking about yourself. You are it, okay? I took inspiration from Jon big time for that
7:00
Now, I do want to know, because this is a little bit of fun. So with the Green Lantern Ring
7:04
if you could have do one boring everyday task just take it from you
7:12
what would you give it? A boring everyday task I mean I'd probably do
7:21
mopping the floor and hoovering the floor there are some tasks I really enjoy
7:28
I really enjoy doing laundry I really enjoy making the bed putting fresh bed sheets and pillowcases
7:32
I like that But like when I have to hoover and mop the floor and because of the way my brain works
7:38
I can't do one without the other. I need to hoover and I need to mop. Right
7:42
It needs to be in that order. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And that just, it's not my favorite thing to do
7:46
So that's what I would get it to do. No, I think that's a good too. I would have chosen, I think, ironing
7:51
I don't iron anything. Really? I have an iron and an ironing board. Yeah
7:55
Never use it. Decoration. Yeah, it's just there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's there if you want to use it as my guest
7:59
Yeah, yeah. There you go. Amenities. Enjoy. Yeah, yeah. I love that
8:04
I love that right that's perfect thank you so much for coming in
8:08
thank you so much so excited for everyone to see Lanterns as well so yes
8:11
we adore you I appreciate you more from you please thank you so much yes please
8:15
