Yeah, good afternoon. You know, you've got to kind of mix it up a little bit
0:05
You know, and there's reasons for that. But as Wendy was telling me earlier on, Wendy is the farmer here
0:12
that it's not the little cute little lambs that end up on your plate
0:16
So don't worry about that. Don't let that put you off. All those cute wee faces today from hitting up that meat aisle in your local supermarket
0:24
But I have decided to kind of have our last kind of go of the day here with the Highland cows
0:31
Now, I can't get them to stand in one place. So hopefully, at least at any point, there's one in shot
0:38
And these two are in because all of the lambs that you've seen inside today and these cows, they just needed a little help
0:46
About 75% of the animals here at Muir House Farm are actually born out there on the fields
0:53
it's only when something's gone wrong or, as I said, they need a little bit of dry air
0:59
And I can tell you that the heralds of Storm Dave have already made landfall here
1:04
the heavy, heavy rain, wind and even a bit of snow not long ago
1:08
So over the course of the next 24 hours, we're going to see a lot more animals brought in here
1:13
But to my left here, she's not playing fair with the camera, is Monica the 41st
1:19
This is, she's the 41st in her lineage of pure Highland cow
1:23
And on my right, we have the lovely Rua, who this is her first time calving
1:29
She's a heifer. And this just gives you a sense of, we've been talking about it all day today
1:35
about how Muir House Farm is not just the sheep farm of the year at the Scottish Agricultural Awards but also the champion of champions because what Wendy and James have done here is take that agricultural tourism to the next level and also I was just reading there the crits they called
1:54
from the judges and why they got that unanimous vote last year for that Champion of Champion Awards
2:00
and it's because there have been such great ambassadors and allowing members of the public
2:06
to get up close and talk to, not talk because that would just be daft
2:11
but to see and to find out about these beautiful animals. Now, over the course of today, I really do hope that you've enjoyed it
2:20
We've learned quite a lot about the process and we have covered farming extensively here on GB News
2:26
but because this has been Easter weekend, it's been nice to take the foot off of the news gas for a little bit
2:33
and remind everyone about all the new life, of course, that's birthed into these farming communities at this time of year
2:41
But with that, Storm Dave on the horizon. And I'm working this weekend, so, you know
2:46
you can be sure that I'll end up out there tomorrow. But today, with these beautiful creatures, hello, Monica
2:52
it's very much been a bit of chicken soup for the soul
2:56
Just seeing these lovely little calves in here as well. I've never seen Highland cows with white fur on them
3:03
Apparently they'll keep that the whole way through their lives because usually they've got those big redhead ginger fringes
3:11
It's a wonder they can see anything. But, you know, really delighted to see such healthy animals in a place like this
3:18
Understandable why Wendy and James won that Champion of Champion Awards. So, yeah, I hope you've enjoyed our little day on the farm
3:28
and do enjoy your Easter, whatever you end up with
