The Chibi News Daily Reflection

Hi, my name is the Reverend Pat Allerton and I'm a vicar in the Church of England
0:11
Have you ever been at a party or even a wedding where they ran out of wine
0:16
Not a high point in the celebration. Well, even less so in Jesus' day in the Middle East
0:21
where celebrating a wedding could go on for three days and it was a matter of deep shame and embarrassment if you ran out of wine
0:30
Well, that's exactly what happened at the wedding at Cana in Galilee, which is the scene of Jesus's first miracle, of course
0:36
I think it's probably known to most of us, Jesus turning water into wine
0:40
And word comes to Jesus through Mary, his mother, that they've run out of wine
0:44
Can you do something? Eventually, he says to the servants there, fill these ceremonial washing jars, giant things that held gallons of water
0:52
Fill it with tap water. And the rest is history. He turns it into the most delicious wine they'd ever tasted
0:58
and the embarrassment and shame of the bridegroom is spared. This is just a picture of what Jesus can do in our lives He turns lack into abundance He turns sorrow into joy
1:14
He can even take away our shame and bring us praise instead
1:19
Because in this miracle, the master of the banquet goes up to the bridegroom and says
1:24
everyone serves the best wine first and then brings out the poorest stuff, the cheapest stuff
1:29
when the guests have had too much to drink. but you have saved the best till last
1:35
And with Jesus, that's exactly what we get. God has provided the best
1:41
At the end, he saved the best till last with the coming of Jesus Christ
1:45
who can give us all these things and ultimately that wine speaks of his blood
1:50
which he came to shed for you and for me to take away our sin and to remove our shame
1:55
by dying for us on a cross. And when we receive that
1:59
we receive praise instead of shame. Why not receive the wine that Jesus has for you today
