The GB News Advent Calendar, Day 13
0:05
Hi, I'm Jordan and I'm a vicar in the Church of England. When I was young, my mum and my dad split up and my dad used to come and collect me and my sisters to go and see him and hang out with him
0:17
And I used to get so excited for him to come and there'd be the planned time that he would arrive
0:22
And I would stand on the window looking up and down the street expectantly for my dad to come
0:27
and I remember one time I was waiting for him and he was really really late and I began to fall into
0:34
despair and I'd look excitedly at cars coming down the street and then I realized that my dad
0:40
wasn't in that car and I lent into despair and then suddenly I saw finally my dad had come and I was so
0:48
full of joy at advent we look to the birth of jesus christmas literally means christ's sending
0:59
and when jesus was born there was a great longing in israel for the Messiah the anointed one to come and put all things right
1:11
In Galatians 4, it says that Christ came in the fullness of time
1:19
and I wonder whether at Christmas as we look to Jesus' birth on Christmas Day
1:27
we can take courage and joy and hope that when Jesus came to put things right
1:35
in the fullness of time I take solace in the fact that I know that God
1:41
if he put Jesus in the right place at the right time
1:44
then he holds also the future in his hands and so I can trust him with that
1:52
And so this Advent, as we look to the birth of Jesus, I wonder what it might look like to trust God with the future
