If you live or work in the city, then you probably noticed that coffee shops are almost on every single block
0:04
and more companies are hopping on the trend. That's right. Banks, clothing stores, even plant shops all opening their own cafes
0:10
Fox 5's Kendall Green checked out a few of these new locations to learn why everybody apparently wants in on the coffee craze
0:16
By the look alone, you would think you're at a local coffee shop, far from the reach of corporate America
0:22
But these baristas are in the heart of it, at a bank. I like just a plain vanilla latte is my favorite
0:29
That's what I order downstairs. Jennifer Windbeck runs all of Capital One's cafes, including this one in Columbus Circle
0:36
The number one complaint we get about cafes is people want one in their city
0:41
But New Yorkers don't have that complaint, since the bank's home to the growing trend of companies cashing in on the caffeine craze gone corporate
0:48
Windbeck started Capital One Cafe's coffee journey back in Boston more than 10 years ago
0:53
We have this new concept we're thinking about doing, and there's not a lot we know about it, but it involves coffee
1:01
Now she leads 60 cafes and counting, aimed at elevating their brand and experience for customers through their partnership with Verve Coffee
1:08
Verve is a West Coast brand that's branching out a bit nationally, and they provide all of the types of coffee drinks that you would imagine
1:18
I had a German ginger This is cool man This is one of the best cool drinks you ever have And over in Midtown I an iced latte guy so for me the Uniqlo blend is really what I love
1:32
Uniqlo's flagship store hopped in on the coffee bean biz, too. This is our first Uniqlo coffee in North America
1:39
It's the first in the U.S., but not the first worldwide. Uniqlo coffee's success spilled over from the clothing store's global headquarters
1:46
A lot of people actually have been traveling at Uniqlo Japan, for instance
1:50
where we already have some locations there that have Uniqlo coffee. Customers in New York enjoy everything from lattes to iced matchas
1:58
This is going so well. People love a matcha. So we're going to continue to look into how do we continue to bring new exciting beverages along the way
2:08
Thank you. The coffee craze not only hitting banks and clothing stores
2:12
some plant shops are seeing green selling coffee beans. This is Plant Shed, where customers can buy plants, flowers, and you guessed it, coffee
2:21
Consumer expert Trey Bodge spilling the beans behind the corporate transition to their own coffee
2:26
I think this makes a lot of sense. Anytime you give a consumer the opportunity to spend more time within your establishment is a good thing
2:34
It gives you more opportunity to introduce yourself as a business, to talk about your services, to sell more product
2:42
So I think overall this makes perfect sense. Kendall Green, Fox 5 News
