YouTube for business. So how to actually use YouTube as a powerful tool to grow your business
0:04
So there are a bunch of other videos on this channel about how to make money, more as a side hustle, how to create a channel about something you're passionate about
0:11
how to actually monetize that content. This video is focused on business owners and marketers
0:18
that are considering creating content for YouTube as a way to grow an existing business
0:22
which is a really good decision. Honestly, our business would not exist had it not been for
0:28
YouTube. So what I want to walk you through today is the process of creating content for YouTube
0:33
and having that content help you generate sales for your business. So how I think about things
0:37
there are essentially three steps. One, you need new people to find out about you. That could be
0:41
through YouTube, other social media ads. There's a lot of ways to do that. Then that new audience
0:46
needs to get to know you and then to be comfortable enough with you to then make a purchase from your
0:52
business. And I think YouTube can help with all three of those stages. So the first step that I
0:56
mentioned on having people find out about you, YouTube is phenomenal for that. So YouTube is the
1:01
second largest search engine after Google. And guess what? Your videos that you publish on YouTube
1:06
can also appear in Google search results. So what I recommend for business owners is to think of
1:12
their ideal customer. What questions do they have? What problems do they have? What comparisons would
1:16
they like to see? We have a whole list of video ideas I'm not going to go through right now, but
1:20
if you were to make a list of the top 50 questions that your ideal audience had and just create one
1:27
video on one of those topics per week, you have a year's worth of content for your YouTube channel
1:33
And to be honest, if you answer the top 50 questions and have content on that, you'll get
1:39
views on YouTube and it will help you generate sales for your business. So to give you an idea
1:44
I pulled the numbers earlier. And so for our English YouTube channel, we had around 150,000
1:49
views last month, half of those came from YouTube search, and 12% of those views came from Google
1:55
search. Our larger Spanish channel had around 400,000 views, 60% of those views came from
2:00
YouTube search, and about 6% of the views came from Google search. So someone doesn't actually
2:05
have to be actively searching for something for them to come across your content. There are a
2:09
bunch of other ways that YouTube promotes your content on the platform. So the first is the
2:14
homepage. So if you scroll through your homepage right now, chances are there are a bunch of videos
2:18
recommended to you of channels you subscribe to, plus a bunch of other content related to your
2:23
interest or maybe recent things that you were searching for. Another place that your videos can
2:28
show up is suggested videos. So if somebody is watching one video on YouTube, if they're on a
2:32
computer, there's videos along the side that YouTube is recommending that are either similar
2:36
to that video or related to the interest that particular viewer has, or on a phone, they're
2:41
below the video that somebody is currently watching. So you can show up in a bunch of places
2:46
on YouTube and Google, having your ideal audience find you every single day. One of the other nice
2:51
things with YouTube compared to other social media platforms is how long your videos can be shown on
2:56
the platform. So if you create evergreen content, so videos answering questions that people have
3:01
today, tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year, your videos could show up years after you
3:06
publish them. Where when you compare that to Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Twitter, or really
3:12
any other social media channel, you can't really take months off and expect for lots of people to
3:18
continue to come across your content, where with YouTube, people are still going to find you. Also
3:23
if you put the effort into creating content for YouTube, our videos in general are from five
3:28
minutes to 25 minutes. So they're a bit longer compared to other platforms. So we use the content
3:34
we're creating on YouTube, and we can multiply that content and use it across a bunch of other
3:40
channels. So for example, we could edit very small segments of a longer video and create Instagram
3:46
Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or being that we have the information, we could record specific
3:52
short videos, but using the exact same research and content we created for a longer YouTube video
3:59
Not only is YouTube great for discovery, so new people finding out about you day in and day out
4:03
it's also great to position you as a thought leader and for people to trust you because you're
4:09
giving away a bunch of content for free. And if someone watches a handful of your videos, so videos
4:15
that are five, 10, 20 minutes long, if they watch a couple of them, chances are they've spent an hour
4:19
with you and spending an hour with you of you giving away value for free through YouTube content
4:25
you're building trust with them. So what we've seen is having calls with potential clients
4:30
that have seen our YouTube videos, they already feel like they know us. So that trust was built
4:35
much more quicker, all on autopilot through our YouTube content before somebody is ready to make a
4:40
purchase from us. YouTube has been the best source that we have for generating leads. So we get around
4:45
100 email signups per day from our YouTube content. So how this works is with our YouTube video
4:51
we're talking about TikTok or Facebook ads or whatever the topic happens to be. We say, hey
4:57
if you want to learn more, check out the link in the description below where there's a masterclass
5:01
guide, a free email course, or something along those lines. We're giving something else
5:06
even more detailed away for free. And so someone goes from that YouTube video
5:10
clicks on the link in the description and on that landing page, they give us their name and email
5:15
address. After they do that, we usually have an automated sequence set up where they get a series
5:20
of emails, all done on autopilot. The tool that we use for that is ConvertKit. We have a whole
5:25
bunch of videos that'll walk you through how to get that all set up. It's really, really easy
5:30
And that allows you to sell on autopilot. You're building trust by sending them a series of emails
5:35
giving more information away for free, and you're able to sell through email. So through YouTube
5:41
day in and day out on autopilot, we're getting leads, they're getting to know us through email
5:45
sequences, and we're generating sales. So what I just described isn't the only way to sell on
5:50
YouTube. You don't have to first get their contact information and then sell to them through email
5:54
You can sell directly in your YouTube videos. But if the only topic covered in the video is your
6:01
product or service, it's not going to be the most viewed video on your channel. Chances are it'll be
6:06
just viewed by some segment of your subscribers. And maybe if you have a super popular product
6:12
people will search for it and come across the video as well. So to be more successful
6:16
I would teach something, provide value. And then maybe the next step of the process would be to
6:22
purchase your product or service. So for example, if this video convinced you that it's time to
6:26
start a YouTube channel for your business, well, you're in luck. We have a YouTube for beginners
6:31
course where you'll create four videos in four weeks and be off to the races growing your YouTube
6:36
channel. So if you're interested in learning more, check out the link in the description below
6:40
So the topic covered in this video is YouTube for business. I'm walking you through that
6:45
helping provide value. And if you want to continue to learn, well, we have something
6:51
that's paid that's mentioned kind of in the second half of the video. So I'd recommend
6:56
doing something like that as opposed to only talking about your product or service in the
7:00
video. So one of the biggest concerns I hear from people when talking about creating a YouTube
7:05
channel is the time commitment. So I would say the biggest time commitment in terms of creating
7:10
content for YouTube is the video editing piece. So it's something I would recommend doing for the
7:16
first couple of videos yourself. It's something you should learn at least a little bit about
7:21
So you want to think of the video ideas, record the videos, learn about editing
7:26
learn how to publish the videos. But over time, if you are a busy business owner, you want to create
7:31
content for YouTube, you will save yourself a ton of time if you find a video editor. So that would
7:36
be the first thing that I would outsource. I would create your first couple of videos
7:40
learn how to edit at least the basics, then find a video editor. So you can check out Fiverr
7:46
Upwork, or there's a couple of services that only focus on video editing. I'll link to a few of
7:50
those down below in the description. So if this video convinced you it's time to get started on
7:54
YouTube, we have a bunch of videos on this channel. I'll link to a playlist of those videos right here
7:59
Also ads, both Facebook and YouTube are a phenomenal way to grow your business online
8:04
We have videos for that as well. I'll link to that playlist right here. Hope to see you in those and future videos. Bye-bye
