NYC horse carriage ban bill gets City Hall hearing after tourist’s death
Jul 15, 2026

The bill, known as Roman’s Law, was reintroduced after 18-year-old Roman Mahajan died during a runaway carriage ride in Central Park. Mayor Zohran Mamdani says he supports ending the industry but wants stronger worker transition protections in place.
