Iran’s exiled Crown Prince enjoys 'brand recognition' among protesters, expert says

Iran’s exiled Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, who called for renewed protests on Sunday, has gained popularity among demonstrators, with many chanting his name. Pahlavi enjoys "brand recognition”, said Mehran Kamrava, professor of government at Qatar's Georgetown University. “His father’s image has been rehabilitated thanks to the gross incompetence of the Islamic Republic,” Kamrava added, noting Pahlavi’s appeal is also due to a lack of alternative opposition figures after years of crushed dissent.
