This barkless dog is a sighthound, from West Africa. It is considered one of the oldest domesticated breeds. It is smart, stubborn, and an extremely high-energy dog. This breed is not the right choice for a novice dog owner. It has a challenging temperament; it can be difficult if a person is not firm and consistent with training. The Basenji is intelligent and quite capable of understanding commands. However, it’s stubborn and will make its own decisions.
