Those little things really help us out, and they help our channel continue to grow

We've just received word that on Monday, the son of LeBron James, Brani, who was 18 years old
0:26
suffered cardiac arrest during a workout with his college basketball team. He was rushed to the hospital after being attended to by the staff in the practice facility
0:40
He was placed into the intensive care unit and as of Tuesday, even though the story just broke on Tuesday
0:46
as of Tuesday, he is recovering and is in stable condition. Of course, a lot of people have a lot of theories about what happened, but let's see
0:56
an official news report on the story. All right. We do have breaking news
1:01
It involves Brony James, the 19-year-old son of NBA, four-time NBA champion, LeBron James
1:08
We are getting word that Brony James, who is going to be a freshman basketball player at USC
1:14
suffered cardiac arrest while at a practice yesterday. Let me read a statement that was just provided to us by the family It says yesterday while practicing Brony James suffered a cardiac arrest Medical staff was able to treat Brony and take him to the hospital
1:32
He is now in stable condition and no longer in the ICU
1:36
We ask for respect and privacy for the James family, and we will update the media when there is more information
1:44
LeBron and Savannah, the parents of Brani wish to publicly send their deepest thanks
1:48
and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their encouragement. incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes
1:55
So cardiac arrest while out of practice yesterday, importantly and crucially, before we have any more discussion
2:01
resting comfortably no longer in the ICU. Let's get right to CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta
2:08
Sanjay, you've now seen the statement, Andy Scholes, I'm told, is with us as well
2:12
Sanjay, you've now seen this statement. Give us a sense of what you see here, what this means to you
2:19
Well, so he's 18 years old. It sounds like he had this sudden cardiac arrest
2:25
There was a very fast. It sounds like resuscitation taken to the hospital
2:30
But as you point out, given the fact that he was in the intensive care unit but was then able to leave the intensive care unit and is on a general care floor
2:39
that is obviously the most important sort of headline there. Obviously the cardiac arrest what exactly triggered that what caused that but the doctors are going to be sort of investigating over the next several days This is rare We know that a few thousand people who are young
2:59
athletes do suffer sudden cardiac arrest every year. There's all sorts of different reasons
3:04
that can happen, electrical abnormalities of the heart. We know, for example, with Damar
3:09
Hamlin, it was related to something known as Cordius Comotio, which is a blow to the chest wall
3:15
we don't know what happens specifically with Bronny James. But in any given year, this does happen thousands of times
3:24
Sometimes it can be a structural abnormality of the heart that was never really recognized until now
3:30
It wasn't recognized until someone actually first has a problem with it. It could be an electrical problem with the heart, again, that was unrecognized till now
3:39
So we'll get more of those details. But again, the most important thing, thankfully, is that
3:45
he appears to have been resuscitated successfully. And in terms of how doctors are looking at him now
3:52
they think that he is stable enough to not need intensive care at this point
3:55
which is also good news. Yeah, it certainly was good to hear his family say that
3:59
Andy, I want to bring you into the conversation. I mean, just for mine, I mean, Brani is young
4:04
but he is an incredible athlete he had recently committed to USC. Now, I'm not a doctor
4:08
I'm not a scientist. And I can speculate as to what would cause an 18 to have cardiac arrest an 18 who appears to be in top physical form in top physical condition Of course we don know what his underlying conditions are There so much we don know
4:26
And so I would say that none of us should act like experts in this moment and try and determine
4:30
what we believe the cause of it was because we don't know, right? But I personally have seen
4:38
in my opinion, what seems to be an uptick in young, healthy people having events like this
4:45
And that, to me, is terrifying. Now, empirical data could prove me wrong
4:49
Maybe there is data that this happens all the time, and somehow for 45 years, I didn't see it, and I'm seeing it now
4:56
I don't know. What I do know is it's frightening to me, and I'm certainly frightened about what could possibly be causing this trend to happen
5:06
What I'd like for you to do is please give me your thoughts in the comments about what you think could cause this, what you think is causing it, or if you've noticed any increase at all
5:16
Also, please remember to like, share, and subscribe because that really helps us out
5:21
I want to send our prayers to LeBron James' family, to Brony James himself, to the whole family for a quick and speedy recovery
