Supreme Court Retirement - Announcement Sends Shockwaves

Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America and two liberal

Supreme Court justices. They're going to be gone if some Democrats have their way

So, it's not just conservative justices that these liberals want to get rid of

They want to get rid of the liberals too, at least two of them. And that's Sotomayor and Kagan because they're not quite young enough

But they're not old. These are not old justices. They were appointed by former President Obama

It's not like they've been on there as long as Ginsburg was. But they're so shell-shocked from the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg who, if you're a Democrat

probably believed she should have retired while there was a Democrat president. But that was her prerogative. She had a lifetime appointment

But if you are a Democrat that believes that, and most of them do

well, you're still shell-shocked from that. You're shell-shocked at seeing Trump roll in

Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Amy Coney Barrett. I mean, he changed the court

for probably generations. And what they're terrified of, they see the polls

they see Biden's numbers, they know that it's very possible Trump becomes president again

And it's very possible. I know that at least one of the liberal justices has some health issues

that there may be a vacancy or two on the court during the next presidency. Easy for me to say

So they see that, and they're terrified that Trump's going to roll in more conservatives

Can you imagine a court, right now it's a 6-3 majority. Can you imagine a 7-2 majority? An 8-1

majority? Democrats would be screaming to back the court. Screaming. Yet, if it was in 7-2

or 8-1, or 6-3 Democrat majority, they'd say, hey, this is fair. This is the way it goes

The hypocrisy is overwhelming. But I want you to watch the freak out fest

begging these justices to retire. Let's take a look. The debate, the conventions, the fall campaign, and the election. Meantime

the possibility that Democrats might lose both the presidency and the Senate in November. Have

some voices on the left now publicly nudging liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena

Kagan, to retire. Doing so would pave the way for President Biden to appoint younger justices now

who could remain on the court for decades to come. Biden says he thinks the next president

could appoint more than one justice. Guess what? The next president, they're going to be able to appoint a couple justices. If, in fact, we're able to change some

of the justices when they retire and put in really progressive judges, like we've always had. Tell me

that won't change your life when Trump's justices are already gutting voting rights, overturning Roe

decimating affirmative action, and so much more. Elections have consequences. The future direction of the Supreme Court could be at stake, probably

very much is at stake. Leading us off tonight, known Trump critic and conservative attorney who

has argued in front of the Supreme Court, George Conway, and Republican strategist

we heard the audio clips this week that had folks wondering what's going on with these justices. And

we can show poll after poll that shows confidence in the court. If it's not at an all-time low
