Newsom Drops 2024 Bombshell On Biden —'Time To Move On, Let’s Go'

Hey ladies and gentlemen, this is Carmine Sabia for Explain America, and Gavin Newsom

the California Democrat governor of that state, has finally, well, made his intentions known

about 2024. And it might be a surprise to a lot of people

Those little things help us out, and they help our channel continue to grow. A lot of people may not know this, but this Sunday is Chuck Todd's final day as the anchor

of Meet the Press. He'll be replaced next week, well, after this Sunday, the following week he'll be replaced

but he had an interview with Gavin Newsom, which is one of his probably most consequential

interviews he's ever had, on the show, and it's a great way to end his run on the show

which I think was pretty decent. He angered liberals and he angered conservatives, and I think that's the mark of any good political reporter

So what Todd did was, he mentioned Joe Biden's sagging poll numbers, brutally sagging poll

numbers, and he asked Gavin Newsom, is it time for you to step in

I want you to listen to Gavin Newsom's answer, and then we'll talk about it. Let's take a look. ...passed

If President Biden doesn't run, why shouldn't we consider you a likely candidate? I think the vice president is naturally one lined up, and the filing deadlines are quickly

coming to pass, and I think we need to move past this notion that he's not going to run

President Biden is going to run, and I'm looking forward to getting him reelected

I think there's been so much wallowing in the last few months, and hand-wringing in

this respect, but we're gearing up for the campaign, we're looking forward to it

You hear these calls privately. What do you tell these donors who are wallowing in this

Time to move on. Let's go. Am I supposed to interpret that comment about the vice president, that if for some reason

the president chose not to run at this point, everybody rallies around her

It's the Biden-Harris administration. Maybe I'm a little old fashioned. You respect that

Maybe I'm a little- I think his answer is telling here. He's not going to jump in here, and he says that Kamala Harris is the natural successor

to President Biden, and this could mean a couple of things. I don't necessarily trust that he's not going to challenge for the presidency when it comes

time to be Kamala Harris' turn. Also, if Trump wins the presidency in 2024, then it's kind of a free-for-all for the Democrat Party

Kamala Harris would not be the natural successor anymore. You're the natural successor when you're the serving and current vice president, not

when you're the former vice president. And anybody knows that. It's Joe Biden, who actually was not the natural successor to former President Obama

Hillary Clinton was chosen as his successor. So there was different things at the time

President Biden's son had just died, and maybe he wasn't in the right headspace for that

But it seemed like he was eased aside, and he came back this time looking for it

So it's rather interesting. I don't believe for a second that Gavin Newsom is not going to try to become president in
