Longtime Host Announces They Are Leaving ‘The Five’ - 'It's Official, I'm Off'

for Explain America, and we have massive news rocking the Fox News channel

Another one of its hosts is gone, and it's gonna rock its most popular show

So it was announced today, Fox News' The Five is changed forever

Now, this is one of the most popular shows, if not the most popular show on the network

Its collection of hosts from liberals to conservatives has been a mainstay at the top of the ratings

for Fox for years. And after the departure of Tucker Carlson, The Five has been really relied upon to bring in

a lot of those big money advertisers and big time ratings. Well, we have to see how it responds

because now one of its main hosts announced today that he's gone, and that host is Geraldo Rivera

Now, I know what you're thinking, Geraldo, he kinda has liberal tendencies

and he's not really the guy that you like to watch on there, right

But you need that counterbalance sometimes, and Geraldo's been a good counterbalance

He's the guy that Gutfeld and Waters take aim at, and kinda nail

It was just like Juan Williams when he was on there. So you have to have a liberal in that spot

Otherwise, you don't really have that fighting that kinda makes the show popular, right

You wanna hear a liberal say what they believe in, and then get hit back with facts

which is what Waters and Gutfeld and the other hosts typically do to Geraldo, just like Jessica Tarlov

Geraldo did say he will stay on the network as a correspondent at large

What is unclear right now is what caused the departure. Did Geraldo leave of his own accord

or was he pushed out by Fox News? Now, this is a question he did not answer

on his Twitter page. He simply said that today was his last day

or today was the day he was making the announcement, rather, announced the few shows he has left

and then said, that's it, he's off. Now, Geraldo is 79 years old

and he could just be looking to take a lighter role at the network, given his advanced age

You know, he didn't choose to retire, though, and that's the curious thing. If the age is the factor, why not just retire altogether

I mean, he's worth a gazillion dollars. He doesn't need to work anymore

So this is very curious, and I wonder how the show is gonna address it going forward

I also wonder what they're gonna do for that liberal spot, right

Juan Williams is gone, Geraldo's gone. I think the most obvious choice at this point

would be just to plug Jessica Tarlov in there full-time as the liberal host

Now, people love to hate on Jessica Tarlov. She's often proven incorrect and looks flummoxed

and confused on the show, so she won't be as formidable an opponent

as Geraldo was for Gutfeld and Waters, but it could still make for good TV

What I wanna know from you guys is, are you surprised that Geraldo's time on The Five is over

Did you think he would stay longer? Did you think they'd never get rid of him? Are you happy to see him go

I have mixed feelings about it. I have mixed emotions about it. Like I said, I like to see liberals

get smacked down by conservatives, so I do like having that liberal voice there
