hey guys it's scale with everything Nash
0:02
backstage with Kristen Taylor better
0:04
known as the Mal pest Brothers on the
0:06
Country Music Cruise thank you for
0:08
joining us today thank you for being
0:09
here are we having so much fun we are
0:11
yes okay so you guys keep doing this
0:13
year after year tell me why well
0:16
thankfully they keep asking but we are
0:20
you know we we're just honored every
0:22
time they call us because it's so much
0:24
fun and it's a lot of one-on-one time
0:25
with the fans which I think is very
0:27
important uh we got a grew you know grow
0:31
up in the in the thought Pro process
0:33
like the older artists that your fans
0:35
are you know number one and spending
0:37
quality time with them makes them feel
0:38
like they're part of of the show so
0:40
that's what what I like about it yeah I
0:42
love being I love being on something
0:45
this big this that everybody thinks like
0:47
you captive audience I mean
0:50
they they don't like what you do what
0:52
are they going to do exactly yeah long
0:54
swing R to the other end of the
0:56
ship we all are pretty contained here
0:59
you're also coming back next year that's
1:02
yeah and we are so honored to be coming
1:03
back um this this will be our that'll be
1:06
our third year I believe third they be
1:08
the fourth fourth year so we're all
1:10
super excited to be back and all the
1:12
great acts on the cruise oh I get I'm
1:14
fans of all these people so whose shows
1:16
have you caught so far Jean Watson
1:18
yesterday so good I got to catch jeans
1:21
that's only what I've caught so far I
1:23
went to see
1:25
Elvis okay let's talk about you guys and
1:27
how you guys began because it's a super
1:29
interesting story so talk a little bit
1:31
about what how this became the Malpass
1:33
Brothers well I started as a kid and
1:36
then when I was born it became to
1:39
M they're here all week but really
1:41
they're here all week well I started at
1:43
first as a kid when I and probably time
1:46
I was about uh 13 or so I had been
1:49
playing you know a lot by myself and
1:51
then Taylor was four years younger and
1:53
he told Mom and Dad he wanted a mandlin
1:55
so they bought him a mandlin we started
1:57
traveling around churches singing Ling
2:00
brother stuff and uh oh Hank Williams
2:02
Merl Haggard and he kind of grew to that
2:05
we wor we went from that working with
2:06
Don Helms who was Hank Williams Senior
2:09
steel player for few years and then
2:11
after that we went working with Merl
2:13
Haggard for seven years and uh and it's
2:16
just kind of grown and grown from that
2:18
rfdtv Larry's Diner helped us so much
2:21
and uh we just kind of continuing on our
2:24
goal is to keep traditional country
2:26
music alive that's what we love so and I
2:28
was going to say that my husband's says
2:30
about you guys that it really is such a
2:32
genuine traditional country music act
2:34
he's told so many people that why is
2:36
that important to you for you to
2:37
continue the tradition of country music
2:40
well you know we it's what we love so
2:42
much and uh in today's market you know
2:45
there's there's a lot of the new country
2:47
music which is great too the modern
2:49
country music but there's kind of a a
2:51
spot there that's not being filled for a
2:53
lot of fans that love the traditional
2:55
country music and and that's what we
2:57
love so we just kind of we don't really
2:59
think about it it's just what we do we
3:01
just love it and kind of live and
3:02
breathe it so it's not a something we
3:04
thought let's try this we've just always
3:06
done it if we're GNA do it we don't want
3:09
to settle in a genre that we don't that
3:12
we're not happy you know what I mean he
3:14
wanted to do rap I could see that can we
3:16
talk for just a second about how awesome
3:18
you guys always look like you put so
3:20
much thought into what you wear which is
3:22
also not common in country music anymore
3:24
well um a guy named uh double A apparel
3:28
is the name of his uh C out of Los
3:30
Angeles makes these suit for us and we
3:32
just think it's really important to look
3:34
you know show respect to your audience
3:35
when you come out and dress up and plus
3:37
if you look nice they don't listen as
3:41
much see they go man they s awesome
3:45
thought they were bad but
3:47
they but you sound so good too oh you're
3:51
kind I didn't realize until I started
3:54
digging into your music The Influence
3:56
that Merl Haggard had oh huge yeah
3:58
probably more than other artists he had
4:00
such a direct influence in what you guys
4:04
on our writing and our a lot of our
4:07
style we do so many Merle songs and
4:09
today we've actually got Scott JW who
4:11
played with Merl Haggard for years and
4:14
and uh so that's kind of cool to have
4:16
him with us on fiddle okay you talked
4:18
about it a little bit earlier but real
4:19
quick we have to talk about your TV show
4:21
could you ever imagined first of all
4:23
that from your living room playing music
4:24
you'd have your own TV show no a million
4:27
years no I I you know when I when
4:30
Patrick with RFD we met with us about it
4:32
we were just blown away because we had
4:35
done Larry's Diner and it had done so
4:37
good for us which was on RFD and uh when
4:40
they approached us about our own show I
4:41
just I was like I don't know if
4:43
anybody's going to watch this I wouldn't
4:45
watch it it is strange it is strange
4:49
doing it when you have people Your
4:50
Heroes come on there we're so honored to
4:53
have them on there and then they're
4:54
asking you quck when what do you want us
4:56
to do and it's like yeah I know they've
4:58
been so nice
5:00
Randy Travis we did a thing for him
5:02
another I mean just all these great
5:04
artists Moy they're all Jean they're so
5:06
kind to us you know it's been an honor
5:10
okay last question and then I have to
5:11
let you go because you actually have to
5:13
go perform you're here actually here to
5:14
perform uh what can fans expect from you
5:16
this year what is coming up with the
5:18
malp pass Brothers in 2025 we do have a
5:21
uh we um signed a deal with gther music
5:23
and uh so we're going to be doing a
5:25
gospel project which we're really
5:26
excited about yeah Ben Isaac's just
5:28
producing it so super excited yeah we
5:31
got a a gospel be our first gospel
5:33
project in year so we're super excited
5:36
do you know what songs are going to be
5:37
on it well uh it's going to be some of
5:39
our living Brothers gospel and then
5:40
Taylor does the lighthouse which he
5:42
really does well that we'll be included
5:44
on there and just a lot of Our Gospel
5:46
favorites and and hopefully a lot of
5:48
songs people remember and love all right
5:50
so they can catch you this year and if
5:52
they really want to spend time with you
5:54
next year on The Country Music Cruise
5:56
come on out with us B it right now right
5:59
now thanks guys thank you
