Hey guys, it's Gail with Everything Nash
0:02
here with the Malpest Brothers, Taylor
0:04
and Chris. You know how I love you guys.
0:05
Like, you know, it's a thing. It's a
0:06
thing. We're like besties now.
0:08
>> I've been walking around here all day. I
0:10
was seriously wondering where you were
0:11
and Scott was like, "Well, they're in
0:12
here." And we went in the wrong room.
0:14
Then finally, we found you and
0:15
>> here we are talking brothers.
0:17
>> Here we are
0:18
>> at CMA Fest and you guys have a busy
0:20
weekend.
0:20
>> We do. We all we were here last night
0:22
for the uh country for calls and then
0:25
today we've been running around and then
0:26
we leave and go to Kentucky and then go
0:29
to Cherokee, North Carolina. It's crazy
0:31
week
0:31
>> cuz y'all have a new album coming out.
0:32
>> We do.
0:33
>> And DVD 20 songs,
0:35
>> you know. Uh and we got a first copy of
0:38
it today. They gave us a copy of it. But
0:40
yeah, it comes out officially June 26th.
0:43
>> It's on Gaither Records and uh we're
0:45
super excited about it. Single's done
0:47
really good. So uh I'm I'm happy. It's
0:50
one of my favorite projects that we've
0:51
done.
0:52
>> So, the official title is Satisfied
0:54
Country Gospel Classic. So, this is a
0:56
full gospel album.
0:58
>> It is. And uh some Merl Haggard Gospel,
1:00
Living Brothers Gospel, Original Gospel,
1:03
uh Happy Goodman Family. There's all
1:06
Yeah. A lot of good stuff on there.
1:07
>> So, we've talked, so I know you guys,
1:09
but why did you want to do a faith-based
1:12
album? Well, it was something uh we we
1:15
started out in gospel music and um at
1:18
one time we were doing 175 churches a
1:20
year and um and so we started out doing
1:24
that and it's how we were raised and uh
1:26
past couple years is something we've
1:28
talked about doing. Um
1:30
>> it was kind of strange.
1:31
>> Didn't really know
1:32
>> how to go about it and Ben Isaac's
1:34
approached us about doing one. Right
1:37
after we had talked, him and I had
1:38
talked out of the blue, Ben said, "Would
1:40
y'all be interested in doing a gospel
1:41
record with Gaither?" And we were like,
1:43
>> and it was just one of those God things,
1:44
you know, and um so we sat down and he
1:47
said, "Will y'all pick some of your
1:49
favorite gospel songs?" So we picked a
1:52
bunch of them that we had done, you
1:54
know, growing up. And um and so it was
1:57
just it was a the whole album's fun and
2:00
it's just very meaningful project.
2:02
>> You picked a bunch of them. You picked
2:04
20 of them.
2:05
>> 20. I know. And Ben's like, "I need I
2:07
need a list of songs." I was like,
2:09
"Okay." And he was like, "Keep sending.
2:11
Keep sending." And I was like, "Oh my
2:12
gosh, 20 songs. That's crazy."
2:14
>> Well, I had 20 songs I wanted to do
2:16
>> by myself. Yeah. Not without
2:18
>> But Christopher,
2:20
>> he wouldn't let me do it.
2:21
>> Rude. And then not only did you record
2:24
20 songs, you did a live DVD, which that
2:27
is a whole another thing.
2:29
>> Yeah. It it was interesting cuz I
2:31
thought, you know, okay, we're going to
2:32
do this in studio and BM was like, no,
2:34
we're going to do this live and had an
2:36
audience. Our parents were there. It was
2:39
packed. We did it at Huckabe Theater
2:41
where he used to do his thing. So, it
2:42
was it was crazy night. It was a a lot
2:45
of emotions, a lot of fun, but a lot of
2:47
emotions, too, cuz it was kind of memory
2:49
trip down memory lane for us. And uh
2:51
it's a special project.
2:53
>> Favorite track?
2:54
>> Uh I think Sheltered in the Arms God is
2:57
my favorite one. And that was a Ben
2:59
Isaacs. He brought that to us and said,
3:00
"I think y'all need to do this one." And
3:03
uh it kind of we had a a sick family
3:05
member, Taylor's father was sick at the
3:07
time. And it that song just really was
3:09
kind of medicine for all of us at that
3:11
time. So that was
3:13
>> I don't know. That's my favorite.
3:14
>> That was my That was my favorite one. I
3:16
actually it was my favorite first and
3:18
then he took it.
3:19
>> I mean, he's your brother,
3:19
>> but then yes, but I sang it so it can be
3:21
more my favorite. Is that right?
3:23
>> Whatever. Okay, we have to move on
3:25
because other big things are happening
3:26
and we only talked a few months ago, but
3:28
other big things are happening. There
3:29
was a proclamation about the Malpest
3:31
brothers.
3:32
>> I know. Yeah. What? That was so nice.
3:34
So, uh our our hometown, Goldsboro,
3:37
North Carolina, made a
3:39
>> and um emancipation proclamation.
3:42
>> Emanation.
3:43
>> No, they made a proclamation uh there in
3:46
our hometown of Goldsboro, North
3:48
Carolina. That's in Wayne County. And uh
3:50
they're actually going to name part of
3:52
the theater there. Yeah. The Paramount
3:54
Theater after me.
3:55
>> The bathroom.
3:56
>> Oh, well that's still something. Stall
3:59
number. Yeah. But what a great honor.
4:02
>> Oh, yeah. I mean, I didn't It was very
4:05
uh moving for to do that. And then, of
4:07
course, we we just did the North
4:10
American Country Music Hall of Fame. We
4:12
just did that earlier this year,
4:13
inducting that. So, it's been a crazy
4:15
year.
4:15
>> Y'all are not slacking.
4:16
>> Well, we're just plugging away and
4:19
hoping the folks are enjoying it. And
4:21
then next year we see you on the country
4:23
music cruise again. New ship. Let's talk
4:26
about it. Such a great lineup. Clint
4:27
Black, Winona Jud, Joe Nichols. I mean,
4:30
I could go on and on.
4:31
>> I know. And I'm freaking out a little
4:33
bit over Clint Black, too. I'm a big
4:35
Clint Black fan. I love his stuff. So,
4:37
I'm looking really forward to seeing the
4:38
show. It's a The Cruise is a blast,
4:40
though. All those artists are real
4:42
personal and you can talk to everybody
4:44
and it's a good thing for the fans, too.
4:47
>> You hang out hang out on the back deck
4:48
with some of your favorite people
4:49
afterwards. I'm just saying not that we
4:51
did that, but
4:52
>> Not that we did that. Not that anything
4:54
like that happens.
4:55
>> All right. Anything else we need to talk
4:57
about?
4:57
>> Well, we got season 4 coming for the TV
4:59
show. We're going back in September to
5:01
film that. So, uh, just keep keep
5:03
watching us and keep supporting what
5:05
y'all do, too. We thank you for taking
5:08
time to talk to us.
5:09
>> You know, I love you guys.
5:10
>> We love y'all. We really do.
5:11
>> Malpass brothers. Makes sense.
