How to Propagate ZZ Plants
Propagating ZZ plants (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is a rewarding way to expand your indoor garden. The most common methods are stem cuttings, leaf cuttings, and division. To propagate by stem cuttings, select a healthy stem, cut it just above the soil, and place it in water or moist soil until roots develop. Leaf cuttings involve removing individual leaves and planting them in soil, though this method takes longer for roots to form. Division is ideal for mature plants—carefully separate the rhizomes (bulb-like roots) and replant them in new pots. Use well-draining soil, provide indirect light, and water sparingly to encourage successful propagation.
