And I just wanted to give you my thoughts on why I think wireless 5G home internet is the future of residential internet access

Now, I got Verizon 5G home internet at the end of 2022, which means that I get my internet access using what is essentially a cellular hotspot in a box

Now, I was kind of skeptical about whether this basically using a glorified cell phone for my home

internet access would work and be better than cable, but so far it's been great for me

So that got me thinking and wondering whether this could really be the future of residential

internet access. And the answer kind of hit home for me as I was walking my dog and saw this

these trucks in my neighborhood. These trucks mean that someone is either getting

cable internet installed or someone is having a problem with their cable internet Either way it means that a technician or several in this case had to drive out to the customer site and install or fix something

Now that's expensive. So it dawned on me that cable is just inherently expensive to install, maintain, and repair

To get a neighborhood wired up, you have to either dig up the street or get guys climbing

on telephone pulls stringing up cable. To get your building wired up, you have to get a guy on a ladder running cable on the outside

of your walls and then he has to drill a hole in your wall and run it into the inside of your home

That's a lot of work for every single customer and it's expensive

And guess who's paying for all that? You are. But that's not all

A severe storm or lightning strike could easily take out a cable

And of course a tornado or earthquake could take out a cable internet for a whole neighborhood

And it's not just natural disasters, what about someone crashing their car into a telephone pull

On top of that, cables don't last forever. What got me interested in 5G home internet is the fact that the cable in my building is

badly degrading resulting in slow speed and impending failure according to the technician who looked at it Bottom line cable is inherently expensive to install maintain and repair

Now, of course, earthquakes and tornadoes can take down cell towers too

but I believe they're more robust, and there are fewer of them to repair in case of disaster

I personally have never lost cell phone coverage because lightning struck a cell tower

really is the future for residential internet access. Now I'm paying $50 a month for Verizon 5G

when I was paying $80 a month for cable. And Verizon is so confident in their cost

whereas the price of cable seemed to go up every year. Now you might think that I have

the cable companies or something have some vendetta against them. I don't really. I actually

think they're doing a really great job with what they have to work with. It's just inherently

expensive to work with cable Now the catch is that 5G isn available everywhere just like cell phone coverage isn available everywhere You can check the Verizon or T websites to see if it available in your area

And if it is, then you want to be extra sure. Find a friend or family member who has Verizon or

5G, whichever is available, and have them come over to your house and test the speed on their

that do that. Then you can be sure of how fast your speeds will be if you order one of these services

Now, this all applies to residential internet access. Companies, of course, should still use

fiber or high-speed internet access through other means. I wouldn't expect them to use a cell tower

for their access. But for homes, I really do think this is the future. For me, it's been cheaper

faster and more reliable than cable. So 5G internet has been really a slam dunk for me
