Hi, it's the Berk of that Gratitude guy
0:06
This past weekend was the Rotary District Conference up in Vancouver, British Columbia
0:11
I was fortunate enough to do a couple of breakouts, workshops on happiness starting with gratitude
0:16
and was absolutely overwhelmed by the incredible group of people that were gathered for this conference
0:21
Probably five or six hundred people, maybe seven hundred people. Incredible speakers, Father Steve Sundberg, the president of Seattle University, Craig
0:29
Kielberger, one of the co-founders of Free the Children and the We Day movement, which
0:33
I talked about a couple of weeks ago. Pete Corelli, General Pete Corelli talked about the Army and all sorts of interesting
0:40
things that are happening today. And probably at the top of the list, Bill Gates, Sr. spoke of just phenomenal progress
0:47
that Rotary and some of the things that Rotary and his foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates
0:51
Foundation has done. Many many tremendous people that were there that I got a chance to meet
0:56
And again, these two breakouts that I did, and there's actually a link right below that's
1:00
just a little clip of one of the breakouts I did if you'd like to see a bit about the happiness starts with gratitude breakout session that I did
1:07
But the most important message is what is the service message? What is the message, the motto if you will, of Rotary
1:14
Service above self. And when you surround yourself with people like that, it reminded me so much of how I
1:19
talk over and over again about how we focus on what we have versus what we don't have
1:24
If we focus on people that want to change the world, impact lives, make a difference
1:28
really really embrace service above self, you can't help but have that rising tide that
1:34
raises all ships. So incredible experience, Rotary and so many service organizations are changing the world
1:42
And when you embrace gratitude and when you understand gratitude in your life, you're
1:46
in a position to help other people. Because as I've said many times, if you want to help yourself, help other people
1:52
Tremendous experience, I'm so pleased to see polio has almost been completely eradicated
1:58
from the world thanks to Rotary and so many other individuals that have helped out
2:02
So tremendous experience, Rotary, tremendous attitude of service above self, and most of
2:06
all it starts with you, it starts with me, and embracing gratitude
2:11
Because by embracing gratitude, you put yourself in a position to help other people as well
2:15
as first and foremost helping yourself so you can do just exactly that
2:18
That's the message for today. Have a grateful day.
