Gratitude Versus Appreciation
May 1, 2024
That Gratitude Guy - Monday Morning Minute:
Gratitude versus Appreciation
Periodically, I get asked me what the difference is between Gratitude and Appreciation.
Webster defines gratitude as: “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.” And Appreciation as:
the recognition and enjoyment of the good qualities of someone or something
So even though they are similar, I define gratitude as focusing on everything you have versus what you don’t have.
We live in such a materialistic world, that it is nice to consistently focus on the gifts and blessings that you have and NOT what the Jones’s have.
When you show appreciation, exhibit gratitude, express thankfulness, or just plain say thank you to someone, you will be blown away on how your mindset shifts to one of abundance.
We could walk a mile a day and cover 365 miles at the end of the year, but we really couldn’t walk 365 miles all at one time.
.
Take it a bite at a time….one kind thought a day, and you will see an immense difference in your outlook.
