▬ About Detroit Sports Nation ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
https://detroitsportsnation.com
In 2010, Detroit Sports Nation started in the same way many a great night has, in a dimly lit bar over a couple beers.
From that one night, where a simple idea to present sports news from a fan’s perspective was hashed out over a table of beer and peanuts to the grand scope of everything that Detroit Sports Nation encompasses today, is simply mind-blowing.
With a strong focus on local teams, Detroit Sports Nation beat writers are dedicated to bringing everything from breaking news to scores and schedules to the masses. Each member of the DSN Writing Team works tirelessly and in their spare time, they do it out of their love of the game; there is something to say about that.

What's good, Detroit Sports Nation
0:11
I am Eric Vincent, your host here at the DSN News Desk
0:15
Thank you for being here. We appreciate your time and support. Fresh off, another Detroit Piston matchup tonight against the Chicago Bulls
0:25
Finished up in a loss, but a very close game, even outside the double-digitist. score
0:30
132 to 118 was the final score, a 14 point deficit. But again, it was a close game really through about three
0:39
three and a half quarters, maybe a little less than half. But the pisses started off pretty good
0:44
It was pretty nippincet-tile game, you know, for the majority of the whole while
0:47
until the fourth quarter got around. Pissons didn't keep the same energy
0:52
and the same kind of discipline that they had through the first three quarters. They weren't playing with the same rhythm offensively
0:58
defensively they weren't really good really the whole game honestly but they were at least able to make up for it
1:04
with timely buckets and you know big shots when they needed them off the rip
1:09
so weren't able to keep that going to the fourth quarter the bull scored 37 points in the fourth
1:14
Pistons only got 26 and it was a little rough to watch
1:18
again it was fun it was only I think a three point deficit by the time the fourth quarter started
1:23
so up until three quarters through the first three just got to a three point deficit
1:28
and pistons weren't able to keep the lead and keep the momentum that they had built through much of the game
1:34
I mean, they were getting some pretty good performances around. This is the first game outside of Killian Hayes and Hamadu Diallo's suspensions
1:43
This is the first game of their suspensions. And the Pistons, for the most part, played pretty inspired, you know, up in the first three quarters
1:50
So got a 22.9 from Jane Ivy played pretty efficient for the most part
1:54
Six and ten shooting, six assists. and pretty pretty fairly good job in terms of expectations of being able to be the primary ball handler with Killian Hayes off the floor
2:07
So he's had a lot of inflated expectations and responsibility. And we'll talk a little bit about that as we keep on talking about the game
2:15
But again 22 points from Ivy 20 point night from Bowie 8 to 19 from the floor 16 from beef stew also went with 10 rebounds quiet night for Sidney Bay Sidic Bay with only 10 points Again the off and on inconsistencies continue for him
2:32
My keep Alec Burke's campaign continues to look strong as he poured in 19 points for the Pistons
2:38
A super efficient shooting night for him as well with 7 of 9 from the floor
2:42
Just love watching to play, man. He's such a good compliment for this team. And what we've seen a lot throughout the season, at least from recently
2:51
was the Pistons closing out with Barks on the floor in the fourth quarter
2:56
The Pistons did something different tonight and tried to lean on Jaden Ivy instead
3:01
We've seen a lot of fourth quarters where he's had to be the primary score
3:07
for the Pistons in the fourth quarter in terms of Alec Bers. Jane Ivy has spent a lot of time as of late over the last couple weeks on the bench
3:15
not necessarily closing out games, but watching Alec Barks perform and close out games
3:20
So in this game, it wasn't horrible in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't the same type of efficiency
3:28
and playmaking and score prizes we saw earlier throughout the game for them
3:34
The passengers don't look like a crisp or clean or established team in the fourth quarter
3:40
They look very unorganized. They go through lots of stretches where they just play a lot of unorganized one-on-one basketball
3:47
where it's either bogey-goal 101 or one-on-one or Jaden trying to get past somebody or Sadiq trying to get past somebody
3:54
Like, it's just very unorganized. They don't run a lot of pin downs. They don't run a whole lot of pick and roll basketball when they need to to keep the momentum going
4:03
They kind of did by the time it got to like a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter
4:07
But by that time, it was too late. So it was really kind of hard to watch them do that in the fourth quarter
4:13
And for me, I feel like these are the kind of games where the Detroit Pistons really miss Kay Cunningham the most
4:20
Having your floor general, having a point guard that is a very good playmaker
4:25
they can get you in spots to score and be productive, I think they're really showing how much they miss him in games like this
4:33
Because, now, granted, Kate is still a young player, but he showed that he could be one of the most clutch players in the NBA
4:40
Even when his lineup isn't super stacked with extreme talent around him
4:46
he still good enough to draw attention away from defenders for his teammates to create layups and shots and opportunities for them And now that he has more help around him unfortunately he not on the floor but with the guy
5:00
like Jalen Dern, with Jaden Ivy, who I think will spend a lot more time off ball when
5:06
Kade comes back, you'll be able to see the real, the real potential for this team in terms
5:13
of what they're looking for. because like with Jay and Ivey play sloppy in the fourth quarter
5:17
I don't hold a whole lot of that against him because when Cade is on the floor
5:22
in fourth quarters and in crunch time or when you need, you know
5:26
the pisses to pick up their momentum, you're going to want the ball to be in Cade's hands
5:30
So like even when he started the year off when J.Nivey really started on a pretty hot streak
5:35
he was splitting a lot of time with Cade. He wasn't the primary ball handler the majority of the game
5:42
And I think that kind of weighs on him at times. being able to have Kate compliment you and have the ability to play off ball
5:49
I think he's going to serve Jaden Ivy better, and I think that's where you're going to see him at his best next to Kay Cunningham
5:56
So, again, Jaden Ivy has taken a lot of criticism for how he's played in terms of
6:02
you know, with his playmaking and some of the sloppy play that he has shown as a rookie
6:06
I don't look too much into it because when Kate is on the floor
6:10
he'll have less responsibility on his plate, and he'll be able to thrive and play a lot more free
6:16
instead of being so focused on being the primary facilitator and ball handler for the Detroit Pistons
6:23
I think that responsibility is weighing on him sometimes. That's what it looks like a little bit
6:27
And it will be normal for a rookie. Like, I don't hold too much that against him
6:32
He's shown that he can be effective. He's shown that he has a lot of promise in a high ceiling
6:37
And I'm still happy that Jay Nivey's on this team. So, you know, these are just the games where it makes me miss K
6:42
He'll be running him. And even going back to Alec Berks, you would see him in the fourth quarter playing as the more methodical guard that would get buckets down the stretch and keep the pistons in the game
6:54
They keep Jay and Ivy. They kept him on the bench for a lot of those possessions and games
6:59
And as a rookie, that can be helpful for him. But I am happy that he got an opportunity to show that he, or at least work towards showing that he can close and play in fourth quarter stretches where the pistons need him to be at his best. best
7:13
And it important for him to go through those games in you know moments like these for a night for a young player like him like him So I happy he got that chance Hopefully we can see a change and a little bit of progression moving forward throughout his rookie season
7:26
There was a lot to see this game. I mean, defense was pretty bad all around
7:30
They allowed 43 points to Zach Levine, shot 15 to 20 from the field
7:35
22 for DeMar de Rosen. He had a pretty big fourth quarter. Vucev gave him trouble in the paint
7:41
even when Jalen Dern had a hand in his face, he still did a good job of, you know
7:46
answering good defense with better offense. And, you know, it was a pretty tough game we watched back and forth
7:52
Again, Chicago hasn't really been at their best this season, but they are a team that's in this division
8:00
They aren't the best matchup for the Pistons, considering how much experience they have in athleticism
8:06
And something that the Piston struggle with is perimeter athleticism, especially on the defensive end with their wings
8:13
So, you know, they kind of had trouble defeated against DeMarter Rosen
8:17
The defending against Zach Levine. Watch them play in transition. You know, they weren't really able to keep up with them throughout the game
8:23
So kind of tough game for the Pistons. Again, considering how young they are, considering the experience of a team like Chicago
8:30
you know, I expect this to be a tough game for them. And considering they did pretty good through the first three quarters
8:35
you know, I'm not going to freak out too much on them on the fourth. But, again, this is what you see and learn and want
8:40
watch from young teams as they grow. So these are the kind of things you see
8:45
This is the kind of growing pages they got to go through to become a true contender in the East, in the NBA
8:52
