Nearly every year when Cube releases its new range of bikes, we ask the question
0:04
are these the best value road and gravel bikes on the market
0:08
Well, they've just revealed their 2027 range, and there's some rather interesting bikes to look at
0:13
So, let's take a closer look. For those of you who don't know, Cube is a German brand that was founded in 1993
0:20
and unlike many big bike brands, it's still privately owned. It's also way, way bigger than many people think
0:27
producing over 1.2 million bikes per year and has over 400 bikes in its range. We're not going to
0:34
look at all of them today but I have chosen some that I think could make excellent choices
0:39
for your next road or gravel bike. I'm going to kick off with this one, the all-new Lightning
0:45
Aero C68X which Team Total Energies have been using ahead of its release at this year's Tour
0:51
de France. So what specs do you need to know? Well this bike has everything that you might expect
0:56
from a Tour de France level bike. In its lightest guise, it weighs under 7 kilos
1:02
This Dura-Ace build weighs 7.1 kilos, not bad for an aero bike
1:06
It also comes with a power meter as standard, the deepest handlebar I think I have ever seen fitted
1:12
to a road bike. And take a look at these Newman wheels. They've got carbon fiber bladed spokes
1:17
and valves that are hidden in the rim. The most surprising thing about this bike though
1:22
is that it costs less than the range-topping bike last year. The price? £7,499
1:30
Yes I know that that is still a huge amount of money but it is quite literally half the price of many of the flagship bikes this was up against at this year Tour de France Half
1:41
In fact, by my maths, this is the cheapest bike currently being raced in the professional peloton
1:46
and it's hard to see where they've made any compromises. Now, before we get on to this one
1:52
over here, let's talk about the Attain. That's the German brand's Endurance come club and training
1:58
bike and I know a lot of people will be very happy to hear that this one has mudguard mounts
2:03
The Attain is available either as a carbon version, the C62 with that number referring to the
2:09
percentage of actual carbon in the carbon fibre. That's high by the way but not as high as the C68
2:15
carbon that's been used on this bike or there's also an aluminium Attain which now has hydraulic
2:21
disc brakes as standard through the whole range. For 2027 there's some welcome updates. All of the
2:26
carbon bikes now come with carbon wheels. There's also carbon cockpits lower down the range than
2:31
ever before and they've still got space for up to 36 mil tyres. There is of course loads of spec
2:38
options to suit a range of budgets but I've pulled out some of my favourites. How about this Attain
2:44
C62 race with a carbon frame, carbon wheels, Shimano's 2x12 speed 105 groupset under two grand
2:52
Let me know if you can think of a carbon bike at RRP that can beat that down in the comments below
2:59
Another one worth drawing your attention to is the slightly higher spec C62 SLX because that also gets the Newman carbon wheels but it benefits from an integrated cockpit and electronic shifting with 105 Di2 for an extra 500 quid
3:16
Oh, and it weighs just 7.6 kilos. And another thing, they all now come with Schwalbe click valves
3:22
something I'm very happy about because I've been banging on about them for years. So it's nice to see a brand
3:27
actually roll it out across their range. Right, we've got the new Lightning Aero for racing
3:34
We've got the Lightning Air for if you want something to win a way off, and the Attain for training and endurance rides
3:41
Cube then also makes this. This is the brand new Agree, which sort of sits somewhere in the middle
3:47
Think of it as a race bike designed for us rather than for the pros
3:52
This is the top-spec Dura-Race equipped model, and just like the top-spec Attain models, it also has the C62 carbon layout
4:00
However, it is lighter, stiffer, and higher performing than ever before. And of course, being a Cube, you still get loads of lovely nice-to-haves as well
4:10
You get carbon spokes, carbon-integrated cockpit, you get a power meter, you get 30mm Continental Grand Prix 5000 STR tyres
4:20
which if more bikes came with those, then I would save myself a lot of cash
4:25
As you can see, you can also fit very clever luggage solutions
4:30
So you can put a power pack or some extra nutrition or something in there
4:34
I going to assume that pretty aero storage although I haven tested that The updated version now also gets UDH at the rear And just like the Attains you also get Schwab clipbrows as standard But what do you think about this paint job Let me know if you like it down in
4:53
the comments below. The final bike or should I say bikes that I want to cover sit in the new road
4:58
category which is the name that Cube gives its gravel bikes. Just like with the road bikes every
5:04
C62 carbon frame bike from the EXC upwards. Now also comes with an integrated carbon cockpit and
5:10
carbon wheel set. Speaking of which, take a look at the wheels on this top spec New Road C62 SLT
5:18
Not only does it have a SRAM Red AXS 64 1x13 speed group set, but it also gets these brand new
5:25
Newman Stream G62 Vanilla carbon wheels. They are super deep and the specs rival far, far more
5:32
expensive wheels. 62mm deep, a whopping 45mm wide, and they still weigh just over 1500 grams
5:39
I really want to get my hands on a set of these, go and give them a try. With most of the tech I
5:45
want to try, it is way out of my price range, but this no-holes-barred bike will set you back
5:51
£6,499. Still a lot of money. Still probably out of my price range, but there is a whole range of
5:58
new road spec options suit a variety of budgets. So you can check all of them out on the CUBE website
6:03
We'll pop a link to that in the description below. So what do you think of CUBE's 2027 range
6:09
And are these some of the best priced bikes of 2026? Let me know in the comments
