84% Of You Don't Believe Wilier's Claims & Why Has No-One Thought Of This Before?
Jan 3, 2026
In a recent poll on the Cycling Weekly YouTube channel we discovered that 84% of you don't believe Wilier's claims about its latest Filante SLR ID2 road bike, we take a closer look at the road bike in question, discuss the new 2026 Specialized Aethos, is it now an endurance road bike?
We also discuss Look's new Keo Vision Pedals, pro cycling transfer news, Rapha's current situation and the news that Lezyne has partnered with Schwalbe's Clik valves which could signify a shift in bike valves.

Breaking news, the French have done something cool
0:03
I have absolutely no idea why no one has thought of this sooner, to be fair they might have
0:08
but Look are the first of the mainstream brands to make pedals with lights in them a reality
0:14
Now the great thing about having lights here is that they use your biomotion to make you more visible
0:20
According to Look, five and a half times more visible compared to a standard fixed light attached to a seat post
0:27
As for stats, they weigh 20 grams, have IPX7 water resistant, 60 lumens output
0:32
and you can either buy them pre-installed onto the pedals, or you can purchase a kit to fit them to your existing Keo Blade pedals for this much
0:41
Are they legal though? Well, I'm going to leave you to debate that one in the comments below
0:46
because in the UK, we have an article in the Highway Code that says pedals must have reflectors fitted
0:54
Are these reflectors? I'm unsure on that one but as most of us know it's rarely listened to I don't think it's ever
1:00
been enforced and I think we can all agree that these genuinely could help to make cyclists safer
1:05
so let me know in the comments below a would you use a set of these and b do you think they're
1:11
legal as for other bike news let's head to the studio and find out right first of all the road
1:17
season is over but that doesn't mean that there's no news from the world tour and potentially the
1:22
biggest news from the last few weeks is that it's official. Q36.5 will be riding Pinarello bikes
1:29
next year. But not only that, Pinarello will also be in their name. Yep, Pinarello Q36.5 Pro
1:36
Cycling. They'll be hoping to be the next Italian powerhouse. So what does that mean for Ineos
1:41
Well, they'll also be on Pinarello bikes, at least for a few more years. But at the moment
1:46
it looks as though Scott, they don't have a place in the World Tour peloton
1:51
Speaking of other teams, Intermarche and Lotto are set to merge resources
1:56
but no news yet on whether that team will be on either Cube or Orbea bikes, or maybe someone else
2:01
We do know that green jersey winner Binyam Gamay will be off though
2:06
He's heading to Israel Premier Tech, or whatever they choose to call themselves, as that too is changing
2:12
In total, 20 men's teams have applied for World Tour status next year
2:16
but only 18 spots are going begging With Intermarche not applying though it looks as though UNO X will be the final team to get the cool up From World Tour to some more down tech now
2:30
and you'll all remember Schwalbe's click valve system that promised to kill off Presta once and for all
2:37
Well, it finally looks like there's been some progress on that front, as Lezyne, or Lezyne, however I meant to say it, has launched a whole host of pumps using click valves
2:47
Now, you might be asking, why is this newsworthy? And well, because I think that this will affect all of us road cyclists in the near future
2:56
The Presta valve is just no longer fit for purpose. Tire volumes are much bigger
3:01
Lots of people are using tubeless, which bungs them up. They can get damaged
3:05
They get seized. I could go on. But in my opinion, they're overdue replacement
3:10
Now, don't get me wrong. There are some positives. For example, it's just about the only standard on a modern road bike
3:15
that is actually a standard. I have used some click valves and I reckon they are better
3:21
They're more reliable, they're easier to use and they allow a higher volume of air
3:25
to pass through them. Now, Lezane adopting this tech, I think could be the catalyst
3:30
for a much wider uptake in the industry. So don't be surprised
3:34
if you see a lot more of these on your group rides soon. Right, other recent new tech releases
3:42
It's been quieter. There was that Van Riesel trainer though. or Van Riesel, god, there was all of them names today
3:49
But only one of those new trainers was actually new, the RCR with Zwift's cog and click system
3:55
It's got an RRP of 749.99 or just under 800 euros, max resistance of 2,800 watts
4:03
a plus or minus 1% power accuracy and an under 56 decibels of noise claim
4:10
Is that good? That sounds quite loud. Well on here it says zero is the threshold of human hearing, breathing is about 10, a quiet room is about 20, 50, so about the new turbo is a conversation, although 60 is then alarm clock so it gets violent quite quickly
4:30
Anyway, we've got one on its way in and if those claims are found to be true then it certainly looks like it could be a strong contender
4:38
I just hope that the power doesn't go haywire when it gets hot like on the last Banneries
4:42
or trainer I used And also why do they put a Zwift cog and click system on it It a great system for sure but it seems better suited to maybe the D100 and D500 But is anyone who spending on a turbo
4:57
really thinking, great, I don't need to choose a cassette at the checkout? Maybe I'm just being
5:01
harsh. Let me know in the comments below. Now, whether you ride a commuter, a road bike
5:08
a gravel bike or a mountain bike, this video has been brought to you by the Insurance Emporium
5:13
If you're considering getting your bike insured or perhaps want to explore another provider
5:18
the Insurance Emporium is worth checking out. They have a de facto five-star rating
5:23
a Trust Pilot score of excellent and a FIFO Platinum Trusted Service. You can cover up to
5:28
six bikes on one policy, all of which can be protected from things like theft, loss or
5:33
accidental damage. Now we all know having anything bad happen to your pride and joy is always painful
5:39
but with an insurance policy you can at least mitigate some of that heartache by knowing
5:44
that someone has your back. Especially when they offer new for old for life so that you can replace
5:49
your bike with a new one of a similar value should it be stolen, lost or accidentally damaged
5:56
If you'd like to check them out then there's a link down below and there's also details on how
6:00
to take advantage of up to 20% off. Also this month we've had a new bike from Villier which
6:09
came with an accompanying trailer which might just be the strangest thing we've seen in the
6:14
last few years. The video department weren't the only ones getting creative though so were
6:19
whoever came up with these performance claims. So this is the new Filante SLR ID2, the brand's
6:26
aero bike and well apparently they've succeeded with great success it's apparently 13.6 percent
6:33
less draggy than its predecessor yep yep that is a lot how how slim was the old bike but that's not
6:40
all villier also reckons that in direct comparisons with five competitor bikes the filante slr id2 is
6:47
said to have an average aerodynamic resistance coefficient that was 2.42 percent better than the
6:54
five nearest and i quote top of the range world tour competitors why don't you tell us which ones
7:00
it is then that you compared it against if it's that good then why don't you tell us and then
7:04
hopefully we can go to a wind tunnel either prove you right or wrong so as we don have a wind tunnel handy please do let us know if you believe Willia claims down in the comments below Maybe I make this a poll
7:20
Right, what other news have we had? Oh yeah, Rafa and EF, they've had a divorce and now it's..
7:26
Rafa's now in bed with Team USA. They're trying to target 10 golds at LA Olympics. It also posted
7:32
a loss for its eighth year in a row so no surprises there oh yes specialized released the
7:39
ethos i know that's a few weeks ago but let's discuss that because i've heard mixed reviews
7:44
on local group rides whether the big s has gone in the right direction right so firstly what are
7:49
we looking at well very similar to the last one some integrated cabling and more importantly some
7:55
slightly more relaxed geometry personally i think that's a really sensible move it's not a world tour
8:01
race bike and so it seems sensible to create a bit more separation between this and the SL8
8:07
It also means that your average Joe rider can ride it around in a more comfortable position
8:12
without having so many spaces under the stem thanks to that taller head tube which I think
8:18
that's a good thing too. Now we sent Cycling Weekly tech editor Andy off to the launch to see if it
8:24
ticked all the right boxes and he did come back very impressed with its 35mm tyre clearance and
8:29
increased comfort. But we will be getting one in for a full review very soon, so make sure you're
8:35
subscribed to the channel for that. So what do you reckon? Is there still a place for nice riding
8:41
lightweight bikes or would you just go for the SLA and have some aero benefit as well? Let me know
8:47
below. And we'll finish with, well this one's good actually, how would you like to save 81 grams off
8:54
of your bike? If so, and you have some very deep pockets and ride Campagnolo, which I'm pretty sure
9:00
no one does anymore, then good news. For just 1,114 euros, you can get more titanium, more carbon
9:08
and even more exclusivity. Yep, Campagnolo's launched a new ultra collection, including a
9:15
carbon fiber chain ring, a new titanium cassette, and new hybrid ceramic bottom bracket. And yes
9:21
we have done the maths. It's about €14 per gram saved. Tidy! Let us know if that makes any sense
9:29
to you in the comments below. Please like, hype and subscribe until your heart's content
9:34
And we'll see you next time
