0:31
tonight a warning is kindly agreed to be our moderator but Chelsea was going to
0:40
be our timekeeper and Jay will take over this time thank you Thank You Trisha
0:51
appreciate it as you all know that you can see we have quite a wonderful group of people here we have 18 candidates
0:59
that have signed up to be here with us tonight and so I would like to explain
1:05
the rules exactly how the forum is going to follow through with each candidate
1:11
and they have already received a letter and probably already know the rules and regulations but I want all of y'all so
1:18
that we're all together on the same type of page each candidate will be given up
1:24
to three minutes for his or her personal introduction after each candidate for
1:30
that office has made his or her introduction comments questions will be allowed from the floor and those also
1:38
all questions will be on a time limit also questions may be directed to one
1:44
candidate or to all question and answers will be limited to two minutes per
1:50
candidate following the Q&A candidates will each be given one minute for a summary or a
1:58
rebuttal and we will go accordingly as and I'm going to give you an example we
2:06
will start with the with the candidates for Supreme Court and to give you an
2:13
idea we have three people here that will
2:20
be candidates for the Supreme Court and there are four candidates whereas down
2:25
the line we have it varies but we are have just about every place covered so at this time
2:31
we'll go ahead and start with mr. Kelton
2:40
he had a good point yeah we do have a time keeper and it's it's like Patricia
2:47
said but Kelsey if you will stand up in the back and he will have two sheets
2:53
paper one will be wrinkled hold up and
2:59
show you that you have one minute left that's the yellow one and then at that
3:04
time when you read and that will be your
3:12
minutes
3:28
Gazza client be here thank you gentlemen for inviting us here and allowing us to
3:34
visit but guys I'd like to start with a video but this is a quote from a guy
3:41
that Jeff Foxworthy which i think is appropriate if you have been arrested for hunting or fishing without licence
3:46
but not for entering and remaining in the country illegally you might live in a nation that was founded by geniuses
3:53
but it's run by idiots
4:07
I have two children grandchildren and
4:16
I'm an active deacon at st. Mark's Church in Houston Texas I served as a
4:22
police officer the City of Pasadena I've served as assistant city attorney I've served at City Attorney's I practice law
4:28
for 37 years in various areas I'm also going to be district courts your honor
4:34
to hear someone say that I've never been a judge but I have flies I was elected
4:40
to the House of Representatives for 16 years where I served as chairman of
4:45
urban affairs and Sartori district did two times and so my last two sessions and civil practices and remedies that's
4:53
the ones that help write the laws regarding our Civil War what do you do
5:00
we need a court the reason many guys we
5:07
need a court that is fair impartial and
5:12
independent and that they believe in the trial by jury they believe the rule of
5:19
law and they believe in our Constitution any time that a court overturned 74% of
5:26
the cases that reach them that were trying that were trials by drilling and
5:31
we've got a serious problem most of the decisions of this
5:38
as fight for the big corporations and the big government all you have to do is
5:43
read the decisions we need to let judges that apply the law and have the ability
5:50
and the wheel to do the right thing I'd like to leave you with this the rights
5:59
of certain authorities the people rejoice ok baby my my name is Jeff Brown
6:33
I'm the newest judge in the Texas Supreme Court I occupy place six on the court I was appointed there last fall by
6:39
Governor Perry to fill a vacancy the way our Constitution works the governor appoints when when when there's a
6:45
vacancy and then that appointee he has to stand for election at the next general election which I am now doing
6:50
down I'm proud to be here tonight speaking to you I believe in a loving
6:56
God the rule of law the US Constitution American exceptionalism and traditional
7:01
Texas values
7:06
just uh just a couple of months ago I stood on the floor of the House of Representatives in Austin laid my hand
7:12
on Sam Houston's Bible and my hero Justice Antonin Scalia of the US Supreme Court administration of the law the oath
7:19
of office communion I swore to uphold the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this state I'm proud to do
7:26
that every day as a Supreme Court justice I'm proud that I've been doing that every day for my 12 year career as
7:31
a judge I served six years as a district judge and six years on the court of appeals before Governor Perry appointed
7:38
me to this bench but my respect for the rule of law began at a much earlier age
7:43
my father was a police officer for 35 years and in our home public service and
7:49
respect for law and order were the order of the day I became an Eagle Scout at the age of 15 I'm an active Boy Scout
7:56
volunteer now my sons are both on the trail to Eagle and it's a very important part of my life my first year out of law
8:03
school I was honored to serve as a law clerk on the Supreme Court of Texas for
8:09
a brand new young Supreme Court judge named Greg Abbott
8:18
I'm very proud to be back at the court as a justice now and I share the philosophy that Judge Abbott took to the
8:25
court when he went there so many years ago I believe that judges should interpret the law judges are not to make
8:31
the law judges are not to legislate from the bench when we interpret statutes contracts and constitutional provisions
8:39
the best thing to do is to stick close to the text of those statutes contracts
8:45
and constitutional provisions because that's how you know the original intent of the folks who drafted though those
8:52
documents it's very important to me it's the kind of judge that I am every day and the kind of we'll continue to be for you place six
8:59
on the Texas Supreme Court Jeff Brown thank you very much our next candidate
9:09
is mr. Joe cool
9:18
I think y'all um thank y'all for having us here tonight and for giving us this
9:24
opportunity to talk to you we all know that Atlanta Tea Party is very important and is the Gateway to further and
9:33
greater political activity in the state of Texas but I don't know of any tea
9:40
party candidate that's been appointed to a statewide office and I don't think you
9:47
do either and so I'm here to tell you that I'm Joe
9:52
Gould I'm running for Supreme Court places my life began at conception
9:58
my life away in a waiting online for a response from healthcare.gov this this
10:09
is a very important election and it's because your constitutional rights are being eroded as we're sitting here
10:16
enjoying some good barbecue and what I mean by that is article 1 section 15 of
10:21
our Texas Constitution the right of trial by jury shall remain in violence in violent unviolated since the year
10:28
2000 74% of all jury verdicts reviewed by Texas Supreme Court and an overturned
10:34
reversed rendered model that's not constitutional that's not conservative and then in
10:41
Romans 13 may not even be Christian I'm here to tell you that the only way
10:47
juries the only way I'm sorry the only way electing judges works is if we honor
10:53
the right of trial by jury otherwise we have lawsuit reform groups that give
11:00
money to not just legislative races but judicial races and we all remember from
11:06
our civics class what's wrong with the branches of government interfering with
11:11
the other branches such as up mourning judges when they should be elected and
11:18
giving money for legislative lawsuit reform to judicial candidates it's not
11:25
right and it's gotta stop I would like for you to support me at
11:31
stanwyck cool calm and cool for Texas calm we have some things going on we've
11:37
challenged the petition of our opponent and it's because there's a Democrat in
11:44
the race and there's some impropriety in the petitioning that could be used as a
11:49
means of getting rid of the candidate by
11:54
the Democrats in the fall and so it's important that we continue this process and then we do touch that fold our
12:02
constitutional rights and uphold the oath of office to preserve protect and defend our constitutions of this state
12:07
and the United States so Elvis God thank you if you have a question in front of
12:29
Canada's can you make your way to the mic please questions for the candidates to their back likely yes if you have a question
12:38
we had a microphone back there in the back at you will be able to speak out
12:44
and mm-hmm just to remind you that when we start this is our first round good
12:50
evening so that the questions that will
12:55
be proposed there will be six minutes and with questions can be given an answer they will be directed your
13:03
question should be directed directly to the individual candidate or to all three
13:09
okay yeah this time I will entertain the e first question and we'll start the
13:15
time tire rolling Canada
13:21
if elected are you prepared to work to
13:27
alter the rules of traditional procedure such that all issues of law are argued
13:35
to the jury except perhaps for argument on admission a bit of evidence that
13:42
cannot be made without disclosing the evidence improperly this is intended to
13:48
make sure that the jury always hears all legal arguments and it is not being
13:54
asked to render a verdict where those arguments are kept from them well I
14:05
think it was now the juries are the arbiter of facts the way that is
14:16
supposed to work that the Court of Appeals should be their final arbiter of the facts and then the Supreme Court see
14:25
if there's any violations of law that's something that I would look at what I am
14:30
prepared to do procedurally would be to look at the Rules of Civil Procedure
14:35
that have been coming out of the Supreme Court placement what I see is that it is
14:41
basically putting the sole practitioner out of business we have just had be
14:48
filing going in all over the state of Texas and I will tell you there will be
14:53
no more precise and it's going to be expensive for any so practitioner or any
15:00
individual to get legal representation when I see that in Florida tied to our right to seek
15:07
justice and our court system okay do we
15:18
have the you'll have a chance for a rebuttal at the end also at one minute don't answer the next question please
15:24
goes to where I have to use one for Jim Brown I wonder what did you mean by American
15:30
exceptionalism well what I mean is that
15:36
American is a special place in the world that we we we have god-given resources
15:42
here that make Texas that make America a special place and our system of laws is
15:48
a good example of that we were the first real strong democracy in the world we
15:55
are the oldest democracy right now and the power here is in the hands of the people and that's what makes America and
16:02
exceptional voice Perry's law against a
16:13
voice you know in their Supreme Court has held that the right to abortion is a constitutional right well the biggest
16:23
faux pas in judicial activism or and the biggest Giudice judicial activist case
16:29
of course is Grobe way with no basis in the law or any of the holdings in that
16:35
case and so the answer is that I'm in favor of pro-life
16:42
whenever I can get it and see it and as I said before my life began in conception and I firmly believe that
16:55
okay is there any as any other questions if not we will let the candidates to
17:02
have one minute for their closing and or rebuttal or whatever they wish to do one
17:07
minute doesn't support the type of
17:13
people that you like one of the things when I was in the house I've got one of my colleagues here at Harvard very well
17:21
tell you the thing that I tried to do was to do the right thing regardless of the cost to you whether it's a big money
17:28
guys or whatever I was also known as it's one of the order that guy wasn't afraid to kill a bad beetle and that's
17:36
what what I did I did that for the 16 years that I was there I wasn't rules
17:42
pulser and I understand that and I will tell you America is an exceptional
17:48
nation but our god-given rights come from God they don't come from the government that our rights came from God
18:05
not from some government that we have and the government needs to be made of
18:11
we the people are not in business for
18:26
well life came up as a topic and I'd like to say that I am very I'm very proud to say that I have been endorsed
18:32
by Texas right to life back in this race I serve on the leadership circle of
18:37
Texas Alliance for life and I'm on the advisory board of an organization in Houston called Lifehouse
18:42
which is a Christian maternity home for a young women who are not married who
18:47
are pregnant but who have decided to keep their babies that's a very important ministry to me that is the
18:57
money that is a money where your mouth is pro-life Oh organization they they
19:05
don't just tell women that you shouldn't get abortions they help women who have decided not to get a voice it's a very
19:11
important issue for me my name is Jeff Wong I'm running I'm running for election the place it's the place I
19:16
currently hold on the Texas Supreme Court and I would very much like to have you good thank you
19:26
I'd like to UM Mitch I'll know that there's only one
19:31
difference really between us and the rest of the world I mean us and the mediocrity that you can find in the rest
19:37
of the world is does the exceptionalism the United States and one of the reasons for that from the 1800's to 2000 is a
19:47
right to a civil jury trial this this Constitution we have is genius we don't
19:52
want in our military heroes don't want to come home and find out that they've
19:58
been defending our Constitution abroad and they come home to find out it's been eroded by 74 percent it's despicable we
20:09
can't accept it anymore we got to do something we've got to maintain our
20:14
constitutions through our sacrifices and you all need to start sacrificing now and let's get something done about it
20:21
thank you
20:27
just to let you all know there are four candidates for the Supreme Court and
20:32
three out of the four showed up here in Llano Texas
20:42
oh yeah yes he is gonna hold up a sign
20:52
and if you are candidate in the position that she's holding the sign up for she
20:57
wants to come up here and take a nice seat it's not a jury seat it's just
21:03
pitching becoming a Miss today okay we're going to go ahead and start now with the Criminal Appeals and I believe
21:11
that we have the four candidates here so we will go ahead and start with mr. Bart
21:18
Richardson my name is Burt Richardson I
21:31
am expanding for place three on the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals was it a kid hearing powder
21:38
buzzer okay my name is Burt Richardson
21:44
I'm a candidate for place tree on the Texas Court of Appeals I'm a senior judge from San Antonio I've been a judge
21:50
for the last 14 years in the state of Texas and the last five years have worked in 40 counties I know what the justice
21:58
system is like in the state of Texas let me give you a little bit of my background I don't have an opponent here tonight and I'd like to tell you what
22:04
the Court of Criminal Appeals does because most people don't know I was in Nacogdoches a month ago and I had a
22:10
group of college students come in college Republican side own up and asked him you guys know what the Texas Court
22:15
of Criminal Appeals is I got one tanker on that his dad was a lawyer he said I think they do traffic tickets the Court
22:23
of Criminal Appeals is kind of the stepchild that the Texas Supreme Court Texas has to hike ports they have the
22:30
Texas Supreme Court and that court handles civil cases the Court of Criminal Appeals handles criminal cases
22:37
the judges on that court right leaders that interpret the statutes and the
22:42
Constitution of our state as I tell people who don't know anything about the court it determines life liberty and
22:49
death in this literally it's the court we're all death penalty goes for the death penalty cases
22:54
go for the first time and it's the court that interprets all of the criminal laws
22:59
in this state and hopefully they interpret those consistent with the legislative intent when they are passed
23:05
my background is I'm from San Antonio I was raised in a military family married
23:11
for 29 years my wife is here tonight we were both raised in families where public service was extremely important
23:17
both of our fathers have passed away there are both veterans of multiple wars there are both career Air Force pilots
23:23
my nephew just got back from Afghanistan and my brother was in Afghanistan I think for the 25th time in his career I
23:30
had selling I had chose another path to
23:36
public service I was a state and federal prosecutor in San Antonio for many years before I was appointed to the bench
23:42
played by George Bush I am board certified in criminal law I have done appellate law for several
23:49
years in my career I have tried many many capital cases I have been at college and law professor for the last
23:56
ten years I'm qualified for this bench and when you go to the polls remember
24:01
the court of criminal appeals is the high court in the state for criminal cases it's an important court it decides
24:08
life liberty and debt for the citizens of this state vote for the most
24:13
qualified candidate I'm writing for place three and my name is Bert Richardson thank you very much
24:24
as tall as Berkeley my name is Kevin Yuri and I'm running for place for on
24:30
the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals and I want item I'm humbled and honored to be here tonight to introduce myself to
24:36
you you know I like to say that we make our plans for our lives and the good
24:41
Lord makes his plans for us and I know for a fact because he's made his plans for my life and that's what's brought me
24:48
here today before me because I graduated from law school as a young young bright-eyed bushy-tailed lawyer thinking
24:54
I was going to be a civil litigator and make a ton of money that was my plan I had a job with a civil firm lined up and
25:00
I got a call from the judge on the Court of Criminal Appeals in 1991 asking me to come to help him draft opinions on the
25:07
court as his briefing attorney and the lawyers in the civil firm said Kevin that's an honor you need to take that job and when you're done you come back
25:14
and you work with us and that's exactly what I did I went to Austin I worked at the Court of Criminal Appeals for a year
25:19
and I got that tremendous excellent experience of working with those terribly great judges on that court
25:25
deciding the most important cases in criminal law in Texas and I went back to San Antonio and became a civil litigator
25:32
and I did that for three years and while I was there I did criminal defense work because of the experience I had at the
25:37
court people brought me some criminal work to do and I did some Appeals for criminal defendants and in one of those
25:44
cases I was very honored to be able to help a wrongfully convicted lady who was
25:49
convicted of theft in in a bench trial and a court in the Barrett County get that conviction overturned because it
25:55
was an incorrect conviction even the prosecutors tried to case agreed with us on that she said she had to try it
26:01
Oceana a persistent alleged victim in the case and so they never thought the judge would say guilty but we were able
26:07
to take it to the Court of Criminal Appeals and the Court of Appeals and get it overturned I left practice simple
26:13
practice though because I knew my heart was called to appellate work and appellate work is what goes on at the
26:18
Court of Criminal Appeals it's different than what happens in trial courts in trial courts you try cases to juries and
26:25
you try to persuade those people that are just like you and me about what the facts are in a case that the court
26:30
feels level you really have to have special skills at interpreting the Constitution and the laws of the state so that you don't go return something
26:37
that the legislature is lawful in past we want our legislators passing the law we don't want the courts doing it for us
26:44
we want our judges to enforce the law as it's written so anyway I left that and I
26:49
went to become a prosecutor in Dallas County where I get a pellet work exclusively for that office and I did
26:55
that until I decided to get married I'm moving to Houston where my wife who's the pediatrician was in training we had
27:03
our first child while she was there I was working for the Harris County DA's office and for the last 15 years I've been an appellate prosecutor in Barre
27:09
County I've got four daughters the wife who's a practicing pediatrician and I'm ready for the job at the court of
27:15
criminal appeals I've had every kind of case you can imagine over 200 fields I've argued at the court multiple times
27:21
I've found I've already that the Supreme Court of Texas filed briefs in the United States Supreme Court and I teach
27:26
prosecutors and criminal and law enforcement officers and I teach victims
27:31
advocates and I'm ready to do the job I just need you to send me there thank you for hearing me well thanks again for the
27:48
great meal thank you for having us I
27:54
know a fair number of you
28:00
warm in Borger Texas little Texas my entire life and I went to law school
28:05
well about college and law school at Baylor I now actually twice a year
28:11
conduct a jury selection seminar for the labor practice program and i likewise
28:17
have a very varied background I have prosecuted cases I have defended cases
28:23
and I've prosecuted murder cases and I have prosecuted misdemeanor cases I have
28:29
defended all kinds of cases but I've also done a fair amount of civil
28:34
litigation which why would that be relevant because it gives a breadth and depth of knowledge and I have arrived
28:42
nearly a hundred jury trials most of them criminal and I differ a little bit
28:47
with some of the other speakers because even though criminal law is what Court of Criminal Appeals does and all that it
28:54
does that trial experience is critical because it is not tried in a vacuum and
29:01
a trial judge has to apply the law to that trial I know better than anyone
29:08
else in this race how those decisions affect the day-to-day practice of law in
29:14
the trial courts and some of our local officials know that the trial is about
29:22
more than the facts there are decisions of law made in every trial I would say
29:27
literally and I think some of you out here will agree with me McAfee for example that legal matters come up in
29:35
every trial almost on a half-hour basis the trial judge makes a decision on the
29:41
law those are the things upon which the appeal is based and I have handled
29:46
number of Appeals have been able to reverse cases myself I have also lost appeals I have argued the law from both
29:54
sides and as a personal background I will tell you but I was because of age
29:59
and my father's lack of enthusiasm about his draft Dean status he encouraged me
30:07
not to join the military however my son is Sergeant Staff Sergeant in the Army in San Antonio and my steps I was in
30:14
Coast Guard in Seattle and I have numerous veterans and my brother has
30:21
been a police officer for over 20 years and we have had some very spirited discussions but I understand the issues
30:28
and I can see both sides and that's what this port needs is someone who will not be in tune to one side or the other but
30:34
can see both sides I ask you for your vote thank you
30:46
hello thank you all very much for having me I really appreciate the invitation I'm
30:52
very happy to have you speaking you fighting this David no and I am running for Court of Criminal Appeals place 9
30:58
I'm the only one here running for that position I need the clerk said I just give you a
31:06
little bit of background I was not born in Texas I was born in the pathetic Naval Hospital because my dad was a Navy man
31:11
and he graduated from the Naval Academy in 1964 when ships were made a wooden handle made of steel
31:17
he raised me to be a very strong conservative Republican I grew up in
31:23
Fort Bend just outside Houston in Shirley and I was never going to
31:28
actually be I'm currently a prosecutor but I was never going to be a lawyer my original idea was I was going to be a
31:34
writer I understood write for fun all the time I would write anything bad stories really and and I went to well I
31:43
went to college and I went there to get a degree in English so I could defer this goal and then something happened
31:49
and Kevin mentioned the word has plans for you and I could not see what his plans were but he had plans for me
31:54
because unfortunately a very good friend line was sexually assaulted and I did not know how to help her I didn't know
32:00
what to do and so I volunteered at the Houston area what is there and I answered the rape crisis hotline and
32:06
that's what I did and I got to hear so many women in crisis I learned so many horrible stories and who so near my name
32:13
is Forrest I realized and I wasn't going to be making a difference by really bad stories so I went to law
32:20
school to become a prosecutor and I went to the United State Air went to the University of Texas School of Law but I use my bat writing but I'm trying
32:27
to teach legal writing there and teach legal research and that's pretty much how I ended up getting really involved
32:32
in doing Creole deals now I got out of law school I went back to Fort Bend I got to work at the town DA's
32:39
office rightly writing Appeals as an intern but when I they hired me all I did trial that misdemeanors or felonies
32:44
but really my first love was it was criminal to us and so I worked I did
32:51
everything every kind of Criminal Appeal there I've done death knowing deals at that traffic appeals done any kind of
32:57
name I'm now board certified in criminal law and criminal appellate law and now widely regarded as well lenient record
33:04
eternal deals as I speak on the court of criminal appeals to the State Bar for the State Bar's advanced rural law
33:09
course I've been doing that server since 2007 I reduced in one of the ward the secrets Marshal award for being just
33:15
that the Texas lawyer Texas lawyer often calls me when they want to know what the significant decisions off with cortical
33:21
fields that's why I think I'm the most qualified person for this for this job and I would ask you another David Newell
33:26
took place thank you very much
33:40
okay we are now opening for questions from each individual if you would like
33:46
that or from all four at this particular time and if you'll go forward and go over to the mic will go we have eight
33:54
minutes in which to to make sure that your question is asked okay okay it's the longest date it has
34:15
been held to be constitutional for it
34:23
and I think it's definitely appropriate I think it's very important to make sure that we enforce it but only on guilty
34:32
people okay and that's what this Court does is determine that but there is absolutely no question that it is the
34:40
law of this thing and should be avoided something I didn't tell you when I was
34:46
speaking to you before is I'm a Catholic and I adhere to the teachings of the Catholic Church and many of you may not
34:52
have read the Catechism but I have the Catechism says that that it does not
34:58
exclude the death penalty and I looked at that hard before I became a prosecutor in fact it said that
35:03
governments have a duty to protect themselves that the people of the government against people who will harm
35:09
them and as a prosecutor that's what I believe and that's exactly the ethical approach that I brought every capital
35:15
case I've worked on and and that's my answer
35:21
I would agree with everyone that everything that everyone is set here it is definitely constitutional it's
35:27
certainly the law of the land I would add though there are definitely vehicles for the court to address questions of
35:32
actually this is to make sure we get the right guy but having done a lot of definitely single are definitely case so
35:38
I can assure you that the process that you go through in order to actually carry out an execution is quite lengthy
35:43
and weeds out so we're pretty kind of confident that these guys are good for the trip so what might you do to remove
36:09
impediments to citizens taking cases directly to grand juries especially in
36:18
cases of official misconduct and who to is your question addressed all four okay
36:33
all right so uh the issue is whether citizens can go directly to grand jury one of the the first answer I have is it
36:40
the grand jury's made up of citizens okay citizens on the grand jury have authority to investigate cases sometimes
36:47
even in the even if the DA doesn't want to and that's why we have a grand jury
36:52
okay so citizens have power through the grand jury and that's my answer
36:58
well I agree that the grand jury has a body of citizens and every citizen has a
37:05
right to make a complaint and have it investigated there's no legal impediment
37:10
to that but they're practical items the
37:19
practical impediments come from the way in which the grand jury is accessed however everybody who is on the grand
37:26
jury that becomes a public matter matter of public knowledge and access to the
37:31
grand jury as a practical matter typically is through a prosecution office however there are also avenues
37:39
about which citizens can make those complaints to different authorities it
37:46
happens in the state that you're concerned that it doesn't happen and I'm involved in cases where it does happen where citizens make the complaint and it
37:54
goes to a grand jury so the mechanism is there sometimes the squeaky wheel has to
38:01
get the grease to get there and if you're not happy with how it works in
38:06
the area that you live then your recourse may be at the ballot with whoever the DM is if he's preventing you
38:13
from getting access to the ground
38:25
you for your fun men thank you again for
38:32
having me I do appreciate this this opportunity speak with you I just hope that you
38:38
check me out my website is newell for judge calm find me on facebook light me
38:43
on Facebook I need all the help you can get because I never imagined in my
38:49
wildest dreams that I would be up here running for the highest court in Texas 100 cases I certainly think I'm very qualified but you know I'm gonna get
38:56
more grass roots it's me and my wife and my folks and we're just driving all over
39:01
the place on statewide raise so I need all the help we can get and I truly do believe that we need good qualified
39:07
people upon the court and I think that that's why I'm right I don't have never saw politics I've never done that but I
39:14
felt that given that we have three different openings and we're going to have more openings in the future we need to make sure we have people that know
39:19
the law know the course is and can be humble enough to make sure that do what's best for the Constitution they
39:26
very much do you and also thank you very
39:33
much the reason I'm running for this position this is because I really think
39:39
that the state all of us want a judiciary a court system that operates
39:45
the way that we all were taught in our civics classes the way we were taught by our parents that the courts were
39:51
supposed to work nobody has an agenda nobody has their thumb on the scale rules are applied and the final answer
39:59
to any of these legal questions is ultimately what is constitutional and did what the legislature passed passed
40:06
that constitutional muster and was the trial conducted in accordance with the law with no agenda other than
40:14
an impartial administration of justice that same thing we've always been taught and always hoped we would have that I
40:20
think we all feel like it started to erode I would ask for your vote for place for thank you good night Richard
40:26
Davis I just want to remind you for
40:34
joining that's the Pikeville in the state it requires qualified candidates that need to be elected I have that
40:42
background I've been a lawyer for over 25 years I've done the very cases at the
40:47
Court of Criminal Appeals handles the question was what do you think about the death penalty I've been involved in over 20 capital X's in my career over ten of
40:56
those have been death penalty cases but it's also important that the judges on that court have the courage to do the
41:02
right thing and sometimes the wrong thing happens in products and sometimes the judges on the court of criminal
41:07
appeals have to step up on a plate and do the right thing and all you have to do is just look about 30 45 minutes east
41:15
of here and ring out michael morton and asking what it was like to sit in prison for 25 years for net killing somebody
41:23
that he was convicted and killed so it requires judges who have qualifications experience my name is
41:29
Burt Richardson I'm running for place three I don't have an opponent here and I would appreciate your vote thank you
41:39
my name is Kevin Geary I'm running for place for on the court from the fields I began my career there 22 years ago as a
41:46
briefing attorney I've been a defense attorney for the last 18 years I've proudly represented the people of this
41:52
state as a prosecutor the summit of the three of the biggest metropolitan areas of this state you name the kind of
41:58
criminal case that it is and I have seen it and I have worked on it and my fingerprints have been on it and I
42:04
promise you I've done my best the entire time to be the most ethical right
42:10
thinking doing the right thing lawyer that I could be during that entire time and I feel called to run for the court
42:17
because the court has vacancies coming up and we need people on the court who understand the history
42:23
that court where it came from where it is today and where it needs to go in the future and I want to say I am that
42:29
person I'm a father I'm a husband I'm a citizen of the state of Texas I'm a seventh generation Texan my family came
42:37
to Texas from Ireland and landed over by in a place called Capano which is close to Galveston between
42:43
galaxies of Corpus Christi and we've been here ever since I grew up in Laredo I played as a kid I'm sorry I've gone
42:50
too long planning in the Frio River and please vote for me Kevin URI place for fourth girl appeals thank all of y'all
43:00
to let you know that there was six candidates for Criminal Appeals and four
43:07
of them are here tonight okay
43:14
you now have mr. Martin Miller for Railroad Commissioner good evening my
43:21
name is Mark Miller and I'm a libertarian candidates or railroad commissioner and I'm not a lawyer the Railroad
43:34
Commission many Texans however may not be aware that the Lilith Commission though initially targeted the railroads
43:43
when it was put into place in 1891 no longer regulates railroads at all
43:48
but is the primary state regulatory agency for the oil and gas business a business that's about 25% of the state's
43:55
economy something very important to the state of Texas I'm a petroleum engineer I started my
44:02
career over 40 years ago in California working for a major oil company I went
44:07
back to graduate school and got a PhD and returned to my Texas roots to teach
44:13
petroleum engineering at the University of Texas for about 18 years I currently
44:18
have a small software company that produces software for the oil and gas business there's not much time tonight
44:26
to talk about a lot of issues but a couple things I would like to bring to life that I think are very important
44:32
with regard to the Railroad Commission the first is transparency the Railroad Commission regulates an industry that is
44:39
pretty narrow and also very prosperous and this causes a lot of Texans to worry
44:45
that the Commission and the commissioners about maybe just a little too cozy with the industry that they
44:52
regulate by the last sunset Commission report to the legislature there were
44:57
some things that were recommended that would have required some additional transparency of the Commission to make
45:04
sure that they were accused themselves appropriately from cases and didn't inappropriately accept campaign
45:10
donations as a springboard to higher office and of course the other issue for the Railroad Commission is regulation it
45:17
is a regulatory agency all right it is it is intended to carry out the will of
45:23
the legislature but it needs to do so in a way that is both simple and straightforward so that ordinary
45:30
citizens can understand regulations and that small companies are able to understand those regulations
45:35
adequately the big companies the exons and mobiles and the the bps they have
45:40
teams of lawyers and things that can take care of that the smaller companies are the ones that have difficulty with
45:46
those regulations some of the regulations have been in play for decades and need a thorough review I
45:53
think you would agree with me that what's needed at some place like the Railroad Commission is people that are
45:58
competent people that are not go seeking
46:04
higher office people that understand small business and can adequately protect the rights and liberties of all
46:10
Texans thank you okay we will now have
46:21
time for is there any questions of mr. Miller bill I just happen to have one
46:34
how would you balance the use of existing energy sources with the development of alternative energy
46:40
sources protections well I'm not sure that's the job of the Railroad Commission the relative mr.
46:47
first of all has no regulatory authority over alternative sources regular the railroad commission only has authority
46:54
over oil and gas operations and I would see no reason why we should diminish any
47:00
of the oil and gas operations but I see no reason where this makes me even would
47:05
need to be involved in the alternative okay is there any other questions mr.
47:12
Miller okay you will have one minute for your conclusion okay I just I'm sorry I
47:18
didn't see you walk up sir go ahead yes what can the railroad commission do to
47:24
bring about new technologies to help the techs get out of the way government have been
47:36
the very poor source of new technologies I'll invest that a little bit more of my
47:42
closing statements but I really do believe it's to get out of the way
47:48
continue closing remarks I it's
47:54
unfortunate that the other candidates for railroad Commission are not here to talk to me tonight I'm the only one but
48:01
if they were here I'm sure we would have heard a lot about keeping the EPA from
48:07
crossing the Red River and about energy independence here's how I feel on both
48:13
of those issues as far as the EPA is concerned the best thing the Railroad Commission can do is to do its job
48:19
competently and efficiently and I'll leave it to the lawyers and the politicians to figure out what to do
48:24
about the legal matter but my job as Railroad Commissioner would be to make sure things run smoothly as far as energy independence
48:32
is concerned the only reason we would be we are currently talking about energy independence is because of the shale
48:37
revolution government had nothing to do with that the Railroad Commission had nothing to do with that that was small
48:43
business operating in an environment in which there is privately held land that
48:50
system needs to continue the Railroad Commission needs to continue to make sure that that system works for Texas
48:56
and all Texas
49:02
he said that he was the only candidate here and there are seven positions and
49:07
for a railroad commissioner okay we will now have agricultural
49:13
commissioner and Tommy Merritt it first
49:26
of all I want to thank all of you for coming tonight I think Liz and I we
49:34
spoke certainly encourage this comment
49:40
attend that we attended most of us could get your vote so Liz thank you for that suggestion but I am from killed work I
49:49
grew up in the kill wore off you heard the gentleman running through our own
49:55
commission he said absolutely right a lot of Austin's at venues or stepping stones I'm running for agriculture
50:02
commissioner because I want serve two terms if you allow me to get elected to
50:09
the second term I would serve them but after that I'm going home or do a good
50:14
job for you I want to be the spokesman the people in Texas does not have a
50:20
spokesman when you talk about water resources water conservation but in
50:27
particular tonight I want to talk to you about appraisal reform I had bills and Robert Tilton and I have
50:34
worked very closely about trying to control the cost of appraisal when we
50:40
were in the legislature I served seven terms and one of my biggest rust was to
50:46
try to get under control and a half weighted pivot Oh bill and we are
50:51
spending to over two hundred and fifty million dollars a year appraising
50:56
property and the Comptroller certified there were at 98% maximum
51:03
so when you spend two hundred and fifty million dollars a year looking for two percent increase it doesn't make sense
51:10
and these appraisal districts are out of control we believe we level the playing
51:15
field on appraisal and now we need to get the appraisal district out of the business of messing with its current
51:22
private product and as a as your representative in the Agriculture
51:27
Department I feel like I will be closer to the ground listening to you about
51:32
trying to control the president's to get our water resources to spend the money
51:38
prudently protect our border and the former federal law enforcement officer and the largest LSD kegs Maiden
51:44
Louisiana the largest heroin case made in Mississippi that was 40 years ago it
51:50
wasn't a lot but it was still the largest cases when I worked in that I want to compliment all these candidates
51:56
for coming driven always I want to thank the gentleman for the prayer if we
52:01
listening to the prayers we pray for us to have wisdom you pray for our safety and you pray for our families because we
52:08
were all worried and we all have to get home and we worry about whether we're
52:14
doing a good job for our families my mother is 96 she saw my political
52:20
photo she told my brother I was too fat than me to lose
52:28
they're happy I'm lucky enough to win this election I want to go home and be
52:34
skinny so hey if there's any questions
52:45
of police I have a question mr. Barrett
52:51
the Department of Agriculture regulates much more than involved more than
52:56
agriculture would you speak to some of that please well let me just say this
53:01
what I know is that Department of Agriculture does not regulate Matt
53:06
Calgary nor does the Department of Agriculture market food safety but what
53:12
does happen in the Department of Agriculture probably one of the most important parts it was probably designed by our founding
53:21
fathers and it was in proverbs 11 verse 1 the Lord of dishonest scales
53:27
but accurate weights are his delight and the Texas Department of Agriculture goes
53:34
to all of the gas pumps and goes to all weights and measures in the grocery stores to make sure that the large word
53:41
is taken care of and I'll make sure that happens
53:48
nobody's any more okay you do have a minute for conclusion well I
53:54
would like to conclude that there are some great people running for Texas agriculture Commission I'm the most
54:01
qualified I believe that the pre previous agriculture commissioners have
54:09
legislative experience I think that you need to hit the ground running with that that you need to work with the memory I
54:16
will grant you that Robert Alton stood up for what he meant right and he and I stood up for what we don't like
54:23
with right together you you pray every day for wisdom as you on the campaign
54:30
we're broke Road when you look around about what
54:35
Texas is going to be like every 10 years we're adding a population the size of Houston getting the message to their
54:43
high 35 Carter what rural Texas is about what is the John Deere tractor cost
54:48
technical vocational technical education I want to add a provision that all these
54:54
children in technical vocational learning and working on a farm or ranch is a good job and those two education
55:05
your mission statement is to create a taxpayer's I don't care how much taxes
55:11
are paid but tell them when they get the education they need to pay taxes they'll very much
55:43
okay we're going to go ahead and continue and I would like to say that
55:49
there are ten candidates for the agriculture commissioner and he was the
55:55
only one that had time to come to Lana so okay now going into the land land
56:03
commissioner and mr. Watts if you'd like to go ahead thank you so much I am David
56:10
once conservative Republican running for Texas Land Commissioner my background is
56:16
22 years of Business and Technology and Human Resources top consulting I am NOT
56:22
an attorney I have a business leader it occurred to me that the kind of things
56:28
companies are hiring before all the time is exactly what our state executive
56:33
agencies need they need to get better and get more efficient and that's the job I'm in every day as an authentic
56:41
conservative I believe that we must aggressively restrain the role of
56:47
government our government will aggressively restrain us and so it is
56:52
our job to restrain government I want to make sure the General Land Office is adhering strictly to its constitutional
57:00
work and so that's very key at the outset now most of us don't know much about what the land Commissioner does
57:07
job number one is to manage Texas public lands about 13 million acres and make
57:14
month then that nice job I like the tease the other fellas running for
57:20
statewide office you thought was one spending I want to make and that's the job of the land commissioners to make money for
57:26
education and the money made flows straight to public education and here's
57:32
an example though of how we need to be on offense as conservatives not just be content to play defense did you know
57:38
that if folks cross the border I don't care if they come from Mexico or wherever they come from if they can get
57:44
here with their non citizen children do you know that by a Supreme Court decision in 1982 called Plyler veto you
57:52
must pay for their K through 12 education that costs Texas taxpayers of
57:57
billion dollars in gear that's been going on since 1982 the land
58:03
Commissioner needs to take a bold role to work with the legislature refocus
58:09
funding of education on Texas children Texas Land Texas revenue Texas children
58:17
that's the right approach if we can get a legislature to do that and the governor to sign it then we'll fight
58:23
that back to the Supreme Court and this time we'll win part of the work of the
58:32
land commissioners also to help preserve Texas history we have the Alamo because
58:37
of the work of the daughters of the Republic of Texas and we owe them an immeasurable debt for 105 years worth of
58:44
faithful service a few years ago though because of concerns about some of the irregularities or concerns of leadership
58:52
at the top the state took away custodianship from the DRT that was
58:57
wrong that is a typical government response but private citizens mess up
59:03
and we're ready to crush you I'll work with the legislature to define a
59:08
framework where we can restore custodianship of the Alamo to the daughters of the Republic
59:17
many have heard of the Alamo and the news even recently the folks of San
59:23
Antonio are working to have the Alamo listed as a UN World Heritage Site if
59:28
you can believe it I'll do everything I can to stop that sort of nonsense
59:38
there is no problem down there with the Alamo that requires the UN Texans can
59:44
handle thank you so much David laws are
59:52
there any questions at this time of mr. Watts we have two minutes for that raise
1:00:02
my question was going to be about the Alamo can you can you talk a little bit
1:00:08
more about that is there something we as citizens can do that's really appears to
1:00:13
be a really sneaky move because it's King almost no publicity when you mention it to people they look at you to
1:00:19
say a little bit of research yes it is true it's going on so if you could help
1:00:25
us out we'll help you absolutely thank you well give that number one get mad about it we deserve to be mad about this
1:00:32
the city San Antonio has essentially ownership of for Spanish mission sites
1:00:37
plus the Alamo Plaza the general Land Office has to Chapel what we think of as
1:00:43
the Alamo the general land office seems to be supporting this which is makes me
1:00:48
dismayed at that effort they view it as simply some sort of tourism designation that's not the case it's a it's a
1:00:55
horrible invitation for the UN to influence how we preserve the Alamo so it's it's happening it is kind of
1:01:02
sneaky and under the radar we need to call the city of San Antonio call the general Land Office and you know here's
1:01:09
one thought I'll leave you with that there's a book UNESCO publishes a site managers guide for managers and world
1:01:16
heritage sites in the foreword the opening paragraph the head of unit in 2002 you may be the same fella lol
1:01:23
now but the head of UNESCO said the fundamental belief of this system of this World Heritage Program is that
1:01:29
these sites belong to all of us meeting all nations no way amongst the Texas we pay for it in blood
1:01:43
I'm pastor Irving light and I'd like to ask you if you will continue that fight
1:01:49
not only for the Alamo but all of the public parks that are in this state of
1:01:55
Texas yes certainly the constitutional duty of the land commissioner is for
1:02:00
public land and that is not Texas Parks and Wildlife but I'll use every opportunity I have to raise awareness
1:02:07
and speak out we need that know about it and we need to get mad we need to get busy good question
1:02:15
okay if there's no further questions at this time if you'll go ahead Oh Roy you
1:02:21
need to get up there quick well my homie Martin's been bad but your legs are gonna hurt me stole my thunder
1:02:26
oh okay I work for parks long after 30 years yes I never got we've never done
1:02:31
with help from the Land Office yet getting funds would you join with those people trying to get enough additional
1:02:39
funding to keep our parks going and I would sure take an interest in the parks and water I think the funding the Texas
1:02:47
Parks and Wildlife falls under the sort of the arm of the governor and but I'd be a real champion I love the national
1:02:53
parks I love the state parks and you have a friend whatever landmarks you need friends yes indeed thank you for
1:03:00
your work okay for your closing mister yes yes so
1:03:06
let me say there's sort of an elephant in the room and that is that there's two Republicans in a Republican primary some
1:03:13
of you know who my opponent is a big name I'm not a bush and David wants
1:03:20
Texans do not believe in family political dynasties we can appreciate
1:03:26
the things the bush is done but all around the state I hear we've had enough of the bushes for now
1:03:34
we need new leadership from outside the system I have no connection to Austin I have no connection to DC I work for you
1:03:42
that's the way it should so we can all appreciate some things the Bush family is done but we need new blood new
1:03:47
leadership we need bold leadership not a temporary sort of placeholder that is angling for a higher office a great
1:03:59
career I want to go do this work and do it in an outstanding way and then I'll
1:04:04
be quite happy to go back to make some more money in my world career on the side so thank you all so much his Lots for Texas dot org lots for
1:04:13
Texas dot or David Watts and really appreciate you that give me a few minutes this ago and indicated that he
1:04:26
is leaving from here to drive straight to Beaumont to be another meeting tomorrow but he did not want to pass the
1:04:33
flannel Tea Party okay the next would be
1:04:41
for Attorney General mr. Tom glass I'm
1:04:47
Tom glass I'm a libertarian running for attorney general I'm running because I love the Constitution it's designed to
1:04:56
protect Liberty I love America and Texas which were conceived in livery and I think all of those are in danger of
1:05:04
being gone if we don't do something quickly about it the status quo will not
1:05:11
hold we've often heard it said if you keep on doing what you've always done you'll get what you've always got
1:05:17
I think those people are optimist I think if we keep on doing what we've
1:05:23
always done the status that the trends were on is we're going lose our prosperity as we're going to lose our Liberty and I think the way the
1:05:30
primary way we're losing it it's because the federal government continues to grow and grow and grow beyond the bounds of
1:05:37
the Constitution the fundamental problem we face as a country is that no one is
1:05:43
enforcing the supreme law of the land I'm running for attorney general that
1:05:49
position in Texas is the chief legal officer of Texas and I believe the chief legal officer of Texas should honor his
1:05:55
oath to the Constitution and when he seized the supreme law of the land the pilot in Texas he should take every
1:06:02
action possible within the limits of hidden power of his office to make sure that those violations of the
1:06:09
Constitution about federal officers stop
1:06:16
some people say that you know the the way we are going to save our liberty in
1:06:22
our constitution is by going to the Supreme Court I think nothing can be
1:06:27
further than the truth in fact the current occupant of the off of this office of the Attorney General Greg Abbott says I go to work I sue the
1:06:35
federal government I go home ladies and gentlemen I don't know about you but I
1:06:41
didn't notice the Supreme Court saving our Liberty lately in fact the most prominent case that Greg Abbott took
1:06:46
recently in the Supreme Court was to try to stop the unconstitutional Obamacare how did that work for us it didn't I
1:06:55
to paraphrase Ronald Reagan about government the Supreme Court is not the
1:07:00
solution it is part of the problem they are one of the I went late in life to
1:07:07
law school I started at 45 we went at night with my company paying for it and
1:07:13
I finished when I was 50 years old and one of the things I was shocked when I went to constitutional law class to
1:07:19
learn is we didn't study the Constitution what we studied in reality was the way over the last century the
1:07:26
Supreme Court has gutted the limits on federal power that that was designed into the custom
1:07:31
to the Supreme Court is not our friend and in fact if you're in the Constitution they're not supreme if you
1:07:38
look at the Supremacy Clause the Supremacy Clause says that the it is the Constitution and laws in pursuance
1:07:45
thereof the supreme it's not the federal government nowhere in the Constitution does it say who the final arbiter of
1:07:51
constitutional meaning is but right after this Supremacy Clause in the very next paragraph it says who they expect
1:07:57
to support it they require every person who takes the of that becomes a member of the government whether it's state or federal
1:08:03
any branch law enforcement military to swear an oath to support the
1:08:09
Constitution I pursue that most of you have a car I'm out of time so let me go ahead and take questions okay at this
1:08:17
time we will entertain any questions for mr. glass yes yes how do you propose to
1:08:26
stop the federal government is forcing us on a daily basis yes you enforce the
1:08:33
supreme law of the land in Texas if something racist Obamacare okay they say
1:08:40
that you have to pay a tax or a fee if you don't purchase a private product
1:08:46
from a private individual completely unconstitutional if the feds come in which in the branch of the feds that are
1:08:52
going to do this and to try to enforce that as the IRS if they come and say you
1:08:57
have to pay or we're sending you to jail and that's not in pursuance with the
1:09:03
Constitution they're at the act that they're taking is null and void the term for what I'm talking about is comes from
1:09:09
null and void it's called nullification it says if you feds you can gauge in an
1:09:15
unconstitutional act and you're not void you're not operating under proper law that means in all likelihood you're
1:09:21
violating Texas law the IRS if they come and seize your assets because you didn't pay something that's unconstitutional or
1:09:28
engaging in theft and they should be arrested by our law enforcement and tried and convicted in our courts
1:09:38
that's the Giro notification in general in honoring your oath to the Constitution enforcing the Constitution
1:09:45
is a spirit of resistance to unconstitutional acts it is a it's a
1:09:50
reliance upon independent judgment reading the text for yourself thinking for yourself producing your own
1:09:57
judgement about what the founders intended and then taking action to honor your oath to the Constitution defend it
1:10:03
that's what nullification and of course I'm talking about is okay we have time for one last okay I love what you're
1:10:10
saying and agree with you wholeheartedly my question to you is just what mechanism do you seek to resist the
1:10:16
federal government of this issue thank you you're saying will the state need to stand between the federal government and individual are you going
1:10:23
to call out the Texas Rangers to stand the preeminent federal troops well yeah
1:10:28
yeah did the answer to this is there another term used for this concept that the founders envisioned Jefferson and
1:10:35
Madison in particular they use the word nullification and they also use the word interposition interposition stands for
1:10:41
the concept of the state official interposing themself between the federal tyrant and the citizens to protect them
1:10:48
I don't know about you we were the feds come to try to get my guns for instance I don't want to do it all by myself up
1:10:54
against it I do want the Texas Rangers in Mayas constitutional Sheriff on my son and I want the full weight of Texas
1:11:01
law enforcement in the people of Texas standing with me to try to stand against the Constitution and I that's why I'm
1:11:07
running because I want to be the person that as in a key position in the state of Texas will embody the spirit of
1:11:14
resistance encourage our local constitutional Sheriff stirs resistant unconstitutional work with the governor
1:11:20
to get that work with a law enforcement within the attorney channel and push back on feds thank you
1:11:33
thank you one of the questions people ask me is why don't you run as a Republican well I used to be a
1:11:38
Republican and I went to the state convention in 2008 and I was appalled at
1:11:47
the way as I watched over time I can't get in good promises from the guys that were running for office they would tell
1:11:54
me what I wanted to hear but I ended up feeling like I was Charlie Brown and they were Lucy because they always
1:12:00
pulling that ball out from underneath a they never delivered on the limited government Republicans have been in power for more than twenty years every
1:12:07
state like the elected office and I ask you are we do we have a smaller government and more limited government
1:12:12
today than we did 20 years ago we do not are we less than dead in Texas than we
1:12:18
were 20 years ago we are not is the Constitution honored war today in Texas was 20 years we are not and so I've
1:12:25
decided just like the people who left the Democratic Party and started a new party the Republicans so many years ago
1:12:31
to try to get their country in their constitution back I'm now working at a new party that is designed to do that
1:12:37
the Libertarian Party I hope you will join me in that fight to get restore our
1:12:43
liberty and our Constitution because we have a country to save
1:12:50
and Yvonne I will say that there are five candidates for the office of
1:12:57
attorney general running we will now go to the governor and we will have mr.
1:13:04
bell blower everybody you know we're about to get a lot more libertarianism
1:13:11
to thrown at you but so I'm Robert Bell
1:13:16
and I am a recovering Republican I'm
1:13:27
with mr. glass in that I wasn't Republicans and I got tired of the lies
1:13:33
form you know limited government and
1:13:39
then they just keep infringing encroachment choking Democrats don't
1:13:46
seem to be doing much better at that and said that they're worse so my goal for
1:13:51
governor is to leave you all alone let you live your lives
1:13:57
live your loved ones and do what we can to be the number one stands we have
1:14:12
Cathy hourglass what can I say in three minutes well let's see
1:14:18
just give me a show of hands sir who's comfortable with America dying and taking Texas with it and Wendy Davis is
1:14:24
Texas governor I don't you mean takers on that let me try this who's okay with America dying
1:14:30
and taking Texas with it and Greg Canada's Texas governor setting you better no it's not I'm Kathy glass and
1:14:37
I'm going to be your next governor because I've got a plan I throw away what America doesn't die or it does it
1:14:42
doesn't take Texas with it but we've got to have a leader to do this what is the
1:14:47
problem well Washington is broken the two-party system is corrupt and broken neither will fix itself it cannot be
1:14:54
reformed from within if we're going to save our Constitution our liberty and our country we gotta charting the course
1:15:00
away from Washington outside the two-party system we don't have a governor who would has a plan who has a
1:15:06
vision of this federal tyranny that dance destroyed us and is coming at us
1:15:11
and even more a governor with vision and a plan to defeat that tyranny and the
1:15:18
guts to see it through I'm not alone in this race have all three I'd like to tell you about my plan for Texas
1:15:24
Independence no it's not secession and its nullification it's a way that we
1:15:29
it's a multi-faceted plan but I'd love to take more about and I look to you more about nullification and what it is
1:15:36
and how it works but you have to have a leader at the top they can lead the way who understands it who gets a listen I'm
1:15:44
that person how did this fall to me how did that happen I can't be glass has the weight of the
1:15:50
world on my shoulders because I want to be Texas governor because it is the most
1:15:55
powerful office on the face of the earth anyone who doesn't see it that way
1:16:01
shouldn't be seeking the office in these days with this tyranny coming at us we
1:16:06
have to work together because we can defeat it but we can't do this alone my
1:16:12
plan with Texas Independence has many facets but he looks toward that day when
1:16:17
Washington is not just broken but collapsed and everything we've come to
1:16:23
depend on from Washington good 40% of our Texas budget it's gone don't have a functioning currency what
1:16:29
do we do how do we survive what we can ness is part of it I'm not turning my back on
1:16:36
no we're taking our country back and we're doing it one state at a time
1:16:41
starting with Texas and with me is Texas government but as you've joined with you
1:16:50
we've got a big fire on our hands we can do this but we have to work together and
1:16:55
we have to have the right leadership with vision plan and guts okay we are
1:17:13
now opening we have four minutes for questions from the floor please I would
1:17:20
like to direct my question to Kathy in spite of what this way this may sound I
1:17:28
do appreciate what you're talking about a great deal and I can support that my
1:17:34
question is if it comes down to you Greg
1:17:45
Abbott and Wendy Davis and you
1:17:50
successfully take 30% of the vote or 25%
1:17:58
of the conservative vote and leave Greg
1:18:04
Abbott with 25% and Kathy Davis because I know the Democrats
1:18:12
they're coming in here real strong the branding all our guns and all our money
1:18:17
and so if we're not careful here we're going to end up with Kathy Davis and I
1:18:28
think that could be about as dramatic a mistake as we could possibly make I want
1:18:35
to know what your solution is my solutions to vote for me may be the leader because it doesn't matter we
1:18:41
gather but Wendy Davis it doesn't matter we're going down we're losing our Liberty it doesn't matter I'm
1:18:48
the only one that that is talking this way so I guess I must be the only one who sees it Greg Abbott Spock about forty
1:18:54
sixty million dollars in the bank we'll find out in a few days that tells you all you need to know about hemming that's not good nobody would forty
1:19:01
million dollars gives it except they know he is bought in paper and he will do what they then will get a good return
1:19:07
on their investment so we're going down does it matter how fast we go down how far we hit the bottom when this thing
1:19:13
collapses I'm offering a plan a plan that will work a plan that we if but we have to take this step Greg evidence for
1:19:20
Steven have water through prop 60s were stealing their land through the eminent
1:19:26
domain he is against our Liberty we will lose it in a way or another on the owner
1:19:32
and offering a realistic opportunity to not lose our Liberty and so I'm saying
1:19:38
vote and let me add this to in a serious three-way race 51% is not the magic
1:19:46
number it's thirty four thirty four percent that changes the dynamics on all
1:19:52
that turns everything upside down so there is not paths that I can't win
1:19:57
this and take this thing but I know I am doing what I'm supposed to be doing so I
1:20:03
don't even think those thoughts about what happens if this sum is amiss I know as long as I do part I'm supposed to be
1:20:09
doing and I know than I am and I do the best job I can the results are not up to me I just
1:20:28
would like to know what you would pardon anyone who was convicted using alternate
1:20:36
currency because that's one of the ladies in the future that we can kind of get out from under the Washington DC
1:20:42
juggernaut is by using silver and gold and becoming actually financially
1:20:47
independent and liberals like Charles Schumer have actually said that if you use an alternate currency you should be
1:20:54
considered a terrorist and yeah things such as Bitcoin gold or silver and I
1:21:01
just wanted to know why if you see that as kind of a way that Texas can actually
1:21:07
pursue its own independence may I ask who you're directing your question to
1:21:13
libertarian candidate for governor mr.
1:21:21
Bell mr. belding okay no problem with
1:21:33
using alternate forms of currency just learned about Bitcoin it's pretty
1:21:39
interesting Ron Paul has his own it's actually doing very well in the marketplace there you want to make some
1:21:45
money check it out my 401k is all stock
1:21:52
it's mostly gold and silver because hey I'm young enough right now let be the
1:21:59
price was going up and still going cuz I don't see how using gold or silver or
1:22:07
anything else is going to you know we used to barter with the cows chickens so
1:22:14
I don't see a problem the person is willing to accept in this payment sure
1:22:23
Texas governor actually has limited partner powers but I get your main point part of my plan for Texas Independence
1:22:29
to take care of an enforced seat what happens when we don't have a functioning currency and part of that is well the
1:22:36
constitution says two things about gold and silver and statuses states shall not accept anything other than gold or
1:22:43
silver as payment for dead well we do that all the time you can start enforcing that property of Texas you
1:22:48
know it's gold its silver but it also says that it's fake you're not pointing its own money other states are cutting
1:22:54
around that by saying this private entity over here is minting the Texas
1:23:00
Lone Star Coin and that's what we are going to use for currency here so that's
1:23:05
exactly what we have to foresee and workaround and it's where another power of the governor in Texas is line-item
1:23:12
veto even the president doesn't have that power yeah that's pretty powerful if I see an agency that has enough money to go
1:23:19
around and prosecute people for using long term occurrences I'd say that's an agency's got too much money
1:23:24
thank you each of you now have a one-minute stomach
1:23:36
long reagan said their Trump's of a point in time in space and beyond time
1:23:41
and space which whether we like it or not spells duty duty that before left words
1:23:46
you don't hear too much about anymore but I'm all about duty and nope nobody likes it now but I bet those minute Elmo
1:23:53
didn't like what they had to do but they knew their duty and they did it I said I know I'm doing fine supposed to do and
1:23:59
that's why by the minute Elmo I'll never retreat universe menu I mean this room long-term I'm not withdrawn oh not
1:24:06
flinch I will not stand down I was stood up to send up the federal government leading nullification and yes it may be
1:24:12
at the Alamo wouldn't that be a historic event that once again
1:24:19
we are doing what Texans have shown that they have they can do we can do it again
1:24:25
we can face down a federal time and change the course of history comedian
1:24:41
George Carlin used to say and when it's asked was we don't have a bill of rights
1:24:48
we have a bill of permission is that anything that can be taken away from you it's not a right it's permission I'm
1:24:57
here to fight for our rights so no one can take them away from this my rights
1:25:03
to our guns all rights to our land no I love Texas I've been here from 89
1:25:14
when my family moved here so and I haven't left I don't want to leave yeah
1:25:21
so Roberto
1:25:32
and we're just almost coming to the conclusion we only have two more areas
1:25:38
but I would like to let you know that there are 10 candidates running for governor okay we now have one candidate
1:25:46
mr. Wade Brown from the for the US House
1:25:55
good evening everyone my name's Wade Brown I'm running for a US House against our current incumbent Mike Conaway I'd
1:26:03
like to start off with thanking the organizers proponents together it takes
1:26:08
time and energy to do that none of those candidates would have the opportunity to do this this something
1:26:13
like this wouldn't put together by by people who are dedicated to doing things like that so I appreciate it I'm deeply
1:26:20
grateful to be able to be here I would like to also introduce to y'all my mom and my dad it's John Kay Brown and show
1:26:29
them the honor that they deserve there were wonderful parents for my brothers and I
1:26:38
Samuel Brown he's currently a freshman Texas Tech and Elliston military my wife
1:26:45
Sarah I've been married to for 22 years could not be here this evening that she was spending time with our other three
1:26:50
I've got Abigail who's 15 and she's in ballet this evening Claire who's 13 and she's she's a manager for a junior high
1:26:57
basketball team and Holly age 9 who just kind of is there so does my family
1:27:04
couldn't be here but I thank you so I was Sam for coming with them and I'll
1:27:09
damage the reputation at the Tucker's by saying mr. Leon Tucker and his wife and my mom and dad go way back
1:27:15
they worked for GTE together years and years ago and and so we actually have
1:27:20
some closure people in the area time goes quit when you're when you're doing something like this so I hope you'll ask
1:27:27
me a bunch of questions about this about this I'll tell you one running I'm running because we have a House member
1:27:33
he's not a bad man I wouldn't put the finger at him and say there's something wrong with his character but I'll tell you this it's a
1:27:40
fact he's voted for over three trillion dollars of debt limit increases since he's been in office now that's just a
1:27:46
fact that's not including the the most recent piece of legislation that had to
1:27:52
do with spending which is the bipartisan Budget Act also there's something that's
1:28:01
even more important than that the thing that got me running the first time was I was in my my campaign actually began a
1:28:10
very unusual place it began in Djibouti Africa that's where I was deployed I was
1:28:15
I was there as a Marine Corps major in at the time the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff an admiral by the name
1:28:22
of Mike Mullen sent out loud in front of everyone our national debt has become
1:28:27
our greatest national security threat when the senior-most officer of military officer in our in the land says that it
1:28:34
means we have a problem and I begin it was going on but we have something even a bigger problem right now frankly
1:28:39
and that is and I don't mind saying it out loud I don't think you do either we have a president who is a socialist
1:28:47
he is a socialist let me quote brocco bamaca my individual
1:28:54
salvation is dependent upon our collective salvation that's a quote
1:28:59
they said more than once ladies and gentlemen the import of a statement like that is that he believes that each one
1:29:05
of us is a part of his collective and that his role therefore is to save us
1:29:11
and to save himself so we're in a very weird a dangerous state as a country in
1:29:16
a very very very crucial time in our history the incumbent unfortunately he's
1:29:24
been there for five terms he's refused to bring up articles of impeachment against even people like Eric Holder
1:29:31
he's refused to to consider since Europe we just got to have look at us look at
1:29:39
us in this room we're Texans we're Texans and we need to stand up for ourselves and we need a representative
1:29:46
who will go up to the Capitol building and stand for us in a bold way so I'm
1:29:54
going to close my comments there please ask me questions I have lots of specifics I can discuss with you and
1:30:01
thank you okay we have two minutes for
1:30:06
questioning and who is the first do we have a question bill I want regarding the NDAA the
1:30:17
National Defense Authorization Act there's two sections and Natta still they're valid and I've had conversations
1:30:23
with a congressman about them that the provisions allow the indefinite
1:30:29
detention of US citizens for whatever reasons are no reasons by the President
1:30:35
of the United States what would you do to suspend those provisions well of
1:30:41
course what sus provisions become law it becomes very difficult for a congressman to take in sort of individual action but
1:30:48
you speak to a bill that I've addressed in writing on my blog because you know I can talk a lot about my qualified but
1:30:55
those of you who have taken the time to do a little research you know that I'm a major in the Marine Corps Reserve and I
1:31:00
spent over a dozen years on active duty that I've deployed three times and then I'm a combat veteran and the NDAA had
1:31:07
several problems mr. Hussey one of them was that it did give grant to the
1:31:12
president when another authorization for the use of military force that allow him
1:31:17
to indefinitely detain people at his discretion it's written that way in the bill ladies
1:31:23
and gentlemen mr. Conway voted for that bill he voted to give that kind of authority to this president why because
1:31:31
it was tied to defense spending when our our congressmen when is our republican-led house going to stand up
1:31:37
and force bills to be distinguished basically if is this a defense spending
1:31:43
bill or is this an authorization for the use of they're a force so thank you for the
1:31:48
question I think what you know I would like to think that that we can take an action against everything that's going
1:31:54
wrong up there the way to overcome something like that is like you have to do in our house
1:31:59
135 members you've got to build a coalition of like-minded constitutional conservatives who will will basically
1:32:06
introduce legislation to undo to undo the NDAA as it's written that's the way
1:32:11
to go about doing it that's that's the SD option we have as a representative
1:32:17
okay this will be the last question and you have one minute to answer would you
1:32:23
take up the initiative of term limits for congressman I think we've got way
1:32:29
too many people up there that are way too long and then act in their own interest and not an hour so I completely
1:32:38
I completely agree with premise and we have people that have been there too long but no and I'll tell you why I don't think that I'm not going to spend
1:32:44
energy on term limits it's a very simple ladies and gentlemen the situation that
1:32:50
we're in as a nation if you look in this room again you know we intend this look at ourselves as not being very powerful
1:32:55
but we have become almost cynical but there's one thing I type there's an assumption I think I can make about you
1:33:00
and that is that you're here because you haven't given up on your country you haven't given up yet you're still
1:33:06
willing to fight now what does it have to do with term limits well I'll tell you it has to do with term limits until we all until we change our culture until
1:33:14
we change our culture and we get enough people involved so that you don't have to worry about a term limit you have enough people who are paying attention
1:33:20
to vote people out that's the answer if you make the Constitution to just expel
1:33:26
people from office you're asking the law to do what the framers wanted the individual citizens to do so okay
1:33:35
very quick question very quick answer I don't want to leave you just stand there okay
1:33:42
bipartisan budget and as we've seen this last thing that cut past we had our own
1:33:49
veterans benefits taken away for those disabled veterans what would you do what
1:33:54
could you do well obviously craft legislation that reinstates those things
1:33:59
you know one of the reasons that those things you have the Defense sequestration that recently happened most people don't realize that that was
1:34:05
part of something called the Budget Control Act of 2011 the Budget Control Act of 2011 basically not only approved
1:34:12
additional humongous multi-field in excess of trillion dollars of debt limit increases but it also set up
1:34:19
automatic cuts to per defense spending who would vote for such a thing
1:34:24
well the incumbent did Mike Conaway the fiscal conservative as he calls
1:34:31
himself again I have nothing against his character I don't understand his voting pattern and the bottom line is when you
1:34:41
we all believe that I think that one of the primary reasons that the federal government is in existence and why we as
1:34:47
states all banded together was so that we could share the responsibility of our defense so naturally I'm going to be in
1:34:55
favor of making our defense the best in the world that includes taking care of the troops so I think that's a
1:35:01
responsibility that we have and it's a sacred responsibility just saying that cuz I've worn the uniform but because that's just the way
1:35:08
it is it's the truth ladies and
1:35:15
gentlemen one of the questions it's asked and it's a valid one is how can you hope to win Mike Conaway has spent 1.2 million dollars in the last election
1:35:21
how can you hope to take on this guy as five-term incumbent I have a very simple three-step plan but it requires your
1:35:28
participation not even a lot of your participation just a little bit the three steps are be one bring one and
1:35:35
give 11 it be a voter come out and vote again bring a voter a week ago it did
1:35:41
not vote last time between Chris Jones and I last time we had over 20,000 votes in this district if we pull those
1:35:48
resources together if the constitutional conservatives come out again we'll have over 40,000 votes that's enough for a
1:35:55
majority the third thing is to give just $11 for the 11th district and do it
1:36:00
right now do it today before you leave this building if you can give $11 for this campaign it's not
1:36:07
a lot but when you've got 20,000 people who are willing to vote for someone besides the incumbent if they each give
1:36:13
just a little bit that's how that's how we have to take our country back not through a massive sacrifice of an
1:36:19
individual persons but through a little bit of sacrifice working together so I appreciate your support I thank you for
1:36:27
hanging out this long into the evening I will stay here as long as necessary to talk to as many of you as want to talk
1:36:33
to me about any of the issues or my own points thank you very much
1:36:39
okay we are in our last category incidentally there are only two people
1:36:44
in the US house running and that is mr. Conaway and mr. Brown we now have the
1:36:50
last area it's called a US Senate and we have three candidates and we'll have at
1:36:56
this time first is mr. Mac I don't I
1:37:05
like you Lockwood I talk I like to visit connect a little bit my name is Chris
1:37:11
map and I'm 53 years old I was born and raised in Texas I have four children one
1:37:18
is in the military today one served in Fallujah came back in one piece I couldn't be any more thankful I'm gonna
1:37:26
tell you why I'm running and I'll tell you a little bit more about me about I want to tell you why I'm running that's the most critical part just like my dad
1:37:36
taught me and your fathers teach your sons and your grandfather taught you
1:37:44
just like my grandfather taught my dad we have one obligation in this country
1:37:51
if you do not serve the military your obligation is to go both your obligation
1:37:58
is to research that candidate your obligation is to pull your resources support that candidate and go both pull
1:38:06
the lever get out the pen punch the button whatever it takes and then after
1:38:11
we vote we hold our head up high we hold our chest out and we went and did our American duty and then we go back to
1:38:19
paying our taxes raising our families watching our businesses working on our
1:38:24
future we go back to what life is we go back to all the things that takes to
1:38:31
make a daily life work we expect our representation to go to Washington to go
1:38:38
wherever they're supposed to be and to fight for us and watch our backs while we live our life and we do what the
1:38:45
Constitution says we have the opportunity to do and that is we have the opportunity
1:38:50
succeed or fail on our own we're not guaranteed the outcome of life but our
1:38:56
representation has failed us my voting apparently has not quite worked out the way I would like for it to my opponent
1:39:03
is John Cornyn these two fellows are not my opponent these two fellows wanted to
1:39:08
see the same change I want to see we might tackle it differently we might handle it differently but the bottom
1:39:15
line is this country is headed for a cliff we're in the most perilous position I've ever seen in my life and
1:39:20
I'm not going to give it up for my kids and my grandkids just because a
1:39:26
socialist communist ik approach is being taken in this country and our leadership
1:39:31
is being quiet and they're not standing up and fighting here's what I will tell you if you love 21 hours of Ted Cruz and
1:39:39
green eggs and ham standing up and telling you this country is on fire the worst legislation was coming down the
1:39:44
pike I will tell you if you like green eggs and ham you will love me Sam I am
1:39:52
my name is Chris map I'm a candidate for US Senate I come from the ground floor
1:39:59
wife I've had a job since I was 16 I was out of school the tenth grade I have no
1:40:05
higher education everything I've done I've done on my own I've got a lot of college hours but my hours are my hours
1:40:12
our technical schools my orator technical trades and we need more of that today I would appreciate your vote
1:40:17
on Oh No mark the fourth
1:40:27
thank you hello my name is Rochelle retired lieutenant Carl and I wanted for the United States Senate I'd like to
1:40:33
echo some of the things here but first thing I want to do is I'm gonna thank me to bring out for being a Marine the
1:40:42
first thing they do is they talk about honor first then they talk about the job and we can do that never schools - we
1:40:48
don't need there's Ram religion down our kids but we can talk about honor I appreciate that I want to thank miss Dawson miss Carlson
1:40:55
is Ellis mr. Davis when I run around the GOP I find out who really runs the GOP and that's grandmothers so thank you
1:41:01
ladies if you want to take our country back that's how to do it right here is
1:41:07
what you ladies doing I appreciate and thank you Lana for that I want to talk a little bit about myself when I talk about my opponent I'm talking about my
1:41:12
top 5 I'm really sure and I'm not from Texas I apologize I was born in
1:41:18
Pennsylvania in a girl in a rural area industrial area I mean I made it here as quick as I could I got a bachelor's in
1:41:27
astrophysics with the pilot training I fought on three different continents under four different presidents flying
1:41:33
fighters my first combat operation was in Nicaragua in 1987 when we actually killed godless communists I kind of
1:41:41
bring that up to my little buddies and they kind of get a little cold apart I'm serious but actually I might kind of be
1:41:48
serious a little bit but anyway I've been around and I want to add what mr.
1:41:53
mr. Toole had to say here's why we are great I've been around I've been around the world many times and everywhere I go
1:41:58
I heard phrases for us the most foreign study document in the history of the
1:42:03
world outside of religious texts is the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights for two very special special
1:42:08
reasons on top of your ability to have a civil trial is that the federal government may never take power that we
1:42:14
do not just lick yield to it never been tries the floor goes back to Greek Romans they tried that much but Caesars
1:42:21
took power and they never gave it back so that we are the experiment in this the second one is our unattainable
1:42:27
Bill of Rights I want to make sure everybody understood the Senate has no power to take it Congress has no power to take it the
1:42:34
Supreme Court has no power or the president even if all of those 500 people get together said we're going to
1:42:40
take the fourth amendment they legally have no power to do so there are only the supreme power and what we have yield
1:42:47
and ratified I'd like you to read article five and the tenth member everything they're doing to violate our
1:42:53
Bill of Rights is illegal and it does require nullification I thank you governor's for talking about that why I
1:43:00
don't love it well let me let me step back I'm a small business owner I did
1:43:05
get a work a couple of years in a PhD in an educational program why I'm running against corner for three reasons he did
1:43:11
not stand up against Obama he has not set up against the first second fourth fifth sixth eighth ninth tenth 14th and
1:43:17
27 minutes that are gone article 1 5 of 10 gone that needs to be stopped he did our own opponent is big government
1:43:24
spending he voted for every bill to increase spending every debt limit increase in every expansion to remove
1:43:29
your bill rights including the NDAA what I got a amount of time but I'm going to
1:43:35
talk a little bit later if I can about my top five but the last one is that this man violated his oath of office and
1:43:40
if you violate your oath of office your domestic threat to the Constitution and that is what I'm standing up against
1:43:46
John Cory I was an officer in the Air Force I made
1:44:02
my living as a computer professional and I'm best known as the constitutional
1:44:09
historian and the founder and president of the Constitution Society whose
1:44:15
website is Constitution dot org on that website I've assembled almost all these
1:44:22
significant works on constitutional history law and government if you have a
1:44:28
constitutional question you can find the material on that site you need to decide
1:44:36
the question the office for which I am
1:44:42
contending is critical it may be the
1:44:51
case that the unit the US Senate and the Congress makes a decision that triggers
1:45:00
another world depression perhaps far worse than any we've seen before and you
1:45:08
remember the last time that happened it led to a global war which this time
1:45:14
would probably be nuclear the states are huge and looking at what is happening in
1:45:24
Congress now you have to ask yourself what are the odds that they're going to
1:45:29
get it right and what kind of people do we need to elect to that office who
1:45:37
might get it right now if you go to my website John romanette you'll find
1:45:44
something you won't find on most of the candidate websites specifics most of the
1:45:52
candidates advised by computer fight campaign professionals will just give
1:45:57
you broad generalities the campaign consultants will tell you don't get specific all that will have
1:46:04
will get you is criticism and not much support well I happen to believe that at
1:46:12
this time in our history we have to appeal to the intelligence of American
1:46:18
people if they don't rise to that challenge then they will suffer the
1:46:23
consequences as will we all but I have to at least do my part
1:46:30
by offering specifics and what you will find there is a fairly long list of
1:46:36
legislation these are bills that are ready to go all I have to do is change
1:46:42
the dates and silence drop them in the hopper they're ready to go they cover most of the issues that
1:46:48
confront us today have you ever wondered why anyone hasn't just just stood up to
1:46:56
new gun control legislation why they don't just repeal it well the repeals
1:47:01
are there go to that website and see what other candidates besides myself
1:47:07
need to be doing we will now be open for
1:47:20
questions and we have six minutes in which to have questions and answers okay
1:47:29
bill I'll go again
1:47:35
polls show most voters don't think government works what would you do to
1:47:40
fix the underlying structures and systems and addresses all over sir I
1:47:49
think I agree with you and this is where part of my issue in senator Gordon is outside of advice and consent
1:47:54
the Senators job other than protecting Texas and making sure they stayed out of our waterways making sure gas and oil is
1:48:00
on our own and an enforced reporter is he asked the Senate the senator has to
1:48:05
lead in social issues so he needs to stand up and talk about what central control does to kill and if you wanted a
1:48:13
great model of what the government is trying to accomplish central control over the people just look at the education system it's gone
1:48:19
from first to the 1960s to the worst while spending the most so if you're going to go from first worthwhile
1:48:24
spending the most viewed incompetent here doing it intentionally we just don't understand that control kills
1:48:29
creativity curiosity innovation and motivation just the foundations of our
1:48:35
success so when they're trying to control they will destroy it so we need to have a senator that is enough to
1:48:41
evangelize social issues be a historian of social this was like some of these gentlemen are and step out and oppose
1:48:46
this agenda then stand up for the law one note central government the United States when you stand and look at
1:48:53
territory and you go sir you are about to take an illegal vote I want to make sure you understand what you were about to do you are voting against a client
1:49:01
you may not take the Bill of Rights you might compose an amendment that goes with 2/3 and 2/3 that goes out to the
1:49:08
states or 3/4 ratification but what you're about to do is believe vote and the constitutional crisis is probably
1:49:13
what needs to happen at the Senate level my approach is slightly different than others I believe the crisis at the
1:49:18
federal level Dwayne storm was fantastic man you might want to have a chance to look at him his
1:49:24
approach is more from a state working through the legislation lateral up that way so these guys have proposals
1:49:31
to they're great
1:49:52
do you know that the word no never killed anybody we need to say no a lot
1:50:01
more not we need to simply not give up
1:50:08
and compromise our convictions we're spending too much we're giving too much
1:50:14
so we have a nation of takers is taking drugs no it's not
1:50:26
among the bills on my side in our include large number of structural and
1:50:32
procedural reforms which I'd like you to examine in some detail for example I
1:50:40
have a better approach to trying to balance the budget then a so-called balanced budget amendment which would
1:50:46
not work it is a procedure by which the budget is developed in stages that prim
1:50:54
makes it easy to block but balanced
1:50:59
budgets eight states along the way that's the way to get it done one of the
1:51:06
key reforms that are needed is to review all the legal tender acts which make
1:51:12
Federal Reserve notes legal tender for the payment of debts but this needs to
1:51:17
also be matched at the state level do you know for example in the state of Texas there is no statute declaring
1:51:25
anything legal tender and it would be very helpful if there were so we need to
1:51:32
work with Oh official that else Layton stinketh of government to restructure our government
1:51:42
our economy and everything else so that it is becomes manageable to the extent
1:51:49
that it can be manageable and our limits to how manageable it is most our
1:51:55
opponents seek to do things that imagine that they are more capable of managing
1:52:02
our public affairs than in fact they are some things have to be left to take
1:52:07
their natural course we now have one
1:52:17
minute for research research for US
1:52:23
Senate I'd like to tell you why I am different I'm not a lawyer I'm not a politician I'm a scientist and I can
1:52:31
tell you why that solar power will never work and I can tell you mine exactly that these green energies or not I can
1:52:39
tell you also a while the warming is a lie and it is a useful white powder in the street to cause intercity dictators
1:52:46
also my oath is written in blood I lost my first lost was about 23 and then
1:52:52
London my friends burned to death and so 23 other my friends seven hundred and
1:52:58
thousand people died for the Bill of Rights it's written in blood you can't you just can't go and take it away we fought the civil war to expend to extend
1:53:04
to build rights to everybody so these are also written work and we need that we need to take it that way the other
1:53:09
thing is I'm not a rich man I'm not a millionaire and I don't take any money I don't take any PAC money campaign money or corporate money never
1:53:15
will they let people have fun me or mom and pop giving me gas money so I can hold my wife Heidi and Heidi around that
1:53:21
time and you can find me if you're not going
1:53:26
to vote for me I asked you to look for somebody other than our current senator I asked you to look for stole crisper
1:53:33
dawn there people out there and how you can win how you can cuddle it is you can do two things that I agree with with
1:53:39
this is how we're going to take power away from the millionaires and the power brokers is your inbox hey here's this
1:53:45
read research going forward go to this website take a look right here's dawn north wing
1:53:50
there's an alternative will force the runoff we're not going to beat him in the primary that's not the objective the objective is to fulfill runoff so we can
1:53:57
have a conversation and we can we can defeat you you know a my heartburn and I
1:54:10
wound up take my very top three platforms because it's hard and upsetting like this to talk about
1:54:15
everything you want to talk about one of my car on the break back very top this
1:54:20
is god bless america there's got to be trying to back around god there's no county we're done to
1:54:26
spending is out of control we're printing money an alarming rate we're taking the same money we're paying
1:54:33
for the debt that was created by the printed money that we just printed 1929
1:54:39
will be a bump in the road friends the reason I really am running is because we
1:54:44
have two choices I see it 2014 16 are the last stands for conservatives as I
1:54:50
see it in our generation I will also tell you the two choices are not very pretty every household America has it
1:54:56
everybody has a briefcase their money has a gun case the gun case has a negative effect but we will protect our
1:55:02
Liberty at all cost the briefcase means you get involved and you make that difference before you have to think
1:55:08
about the second alternative number two entitlements they have to be done with there's too much and I have to stop
1:55:14
right here but the last one immigration I am an absolute no amnesty guy I'd
1:55:20
appreciate your vote Oh mark
1:55:30
let's suppose by some miracle that I got
1:55:36
elected and forgot it could happen
1:55:43
then what okay I would introduce all that great legislation we which again I
1:55:49
invite you to study and urge other candidates to also adopt it I don't care
1:55:57
if they copy my stuff I don't have a copyright on it but the problem is that
1:56:04
if I were to do that I would be immediately isolated in the Senate no I
1:56:12
would return my phone calls all right that's the way things work in Washington
1:56:18
so electing me would only be the first step it would the solution would then
1:56:28
depend on everyone else gang after every other member of Congress and of course
1:56:34
the President to take supportive action on the things that I am proposing or
1:56:41
that might be proposed along the same lines I don't claim to have all the answers are that perfect answers the my
1:56:50
proposals or the beginning of a conversation but I run them by a lot of people a lot of experts and most of them
1:56:58
say that I'm far far ahead of anyone else in the field it's time for the rest
1:57:04
of the country to get caught up
1:57:14
I would like to say before petrusha closes as standing up here I would like
1:57:20
to say that I think we had a very very good forum with all the candidates that
1:57:26
they came up here I think we should give them a great I would like to stay in
1:57:39
standing up here and I have stood in some of these places before but I want to say this is one of the best audiences
1:57:46
I have ever seen in a long time I'd like
1:57:54
to thank all the candidates again we know you have given up a lot of your time and resources to get here and we
1:58:01
appreciate it a great deal do not leave until we get the room cleaned up you may
1:58:08
turn your cellphone's back on you're adjourned
