okay sorry we'll take a little thing it's getting ready here hey everybody this is Charles Morgan editor of coin
0:26
week happy Tuesday it's going to be a busy week for us here at Queen week I'm
0:31
gonna be doing many streams and preparation for great auction that's
0:37
going to be happening on March 20th this is the sale of the collection the personal type site collection of mega
0:44
collector D Brent Polk we lost Brent last year a very sad story he was
0:52
a passionate consummate collector well-connected in the industry every
0:58
coin dealer every respected numismatists author anybody who's anybody in the u.s.
1:04
numismatic scene at the national level was well aware of Brent's passion for
1:09
coins as meticulous devotion to building
1:14
an amazing one of the store coin collections of all time and over the
1:20
course of several auctions stacks Bowers with Brent's and his father Mac the
1:27
family dia sessioned most of the family
1:32
coin collection with the exception of two notable pieces that's the 1804 child's dollar the finest 1804 dollar in
1:41
existence and also the 1822 five dollar gold coin one of three known and the
1:47
only one in private hands ever two are at the national news matte collection the Smithsonian it's the only way you
1:52
can finish that set just by having that coin and only the polk family has it at the current moment both those coins
1:58
would have sold for record prices but the family put a reserve on and that was that met and that is the way it goes if
2:05
you want the big coins you have to pay the price that the seller wants for them if they're not motivated to sell them
2:12
and the coin stay where they are as you know the Whitman Expo that was scheduled
2:20
for for this week later this week was unfortunately canceled because of the
2:27
corona virus outbreak and that's okay the numismatic marketplace is
2:33
resilient and we have a robust online presence with auction houses and coin
2:39
dealers and I think everybody wants to get out on the road again and to meet and greet with collectors and to have
2:44
that personal connection and that camaraderie we have have dinner together after the show and actually see these
2:50
auctions in person but it is best for the health of everybody I think if we sort of do what we can do to make sure
2:56
we don't get sick and that our friends and our colleagues don't get sick and I respect that
3:02
I've got in the mail all the catalogs this is quiet a call this is what stacks
3:08
Bowers will be offering and you many of the bids have already been placed I've placed a few minutes myself be honest
3:14
and so there gonna be some coins that are sold some paper - sold some great tokens and pieces of Americana if you
3:22
haven't checked out stacks powers website as of yet and you are in the market to place some bids you have these
3:28
catalogs tools to choose from and they're all available in digital PDFs or you can go straight to the auction page
3:33
of course this is masterpieces of United States coin H part 7 this is the coins I'm going to discuss today several and I
3:41
mean several this can be a lengthy stream guys 20th century coins for this collection if you like modern coins you
3:47
will like my insights there's also we will cover this later this is the masterpieces of United States paper
3:54
money in part 6 this will be the first of the two sales that are conducted in chronological order there's the Larry
4:01
Ness collection of Indian peace Mendelson man did I like that John W Adams sale that sacks bowers held a few
4:07
months ago with some of John's Indian peace medals what a cool rose Americana
4:12
medals all sorts of stuff great sale of course you have rarities night which is always the highlight of a nice auction
4:19
you get to see the greatest coins in the US catalog for sale March 2020 paper
4:26
money at auction the US currency there also you have the Richard Jewell ratio
4:31
Morgan and making collections more named collections in a very thick catalog for
4:38
stacks powers catalogs I love because they are very literary have tons of juicy information the
4:46
cataloguers spare no expense I had sharing with you little tidbits of
4:51
information historical facts trivia things that you didn't know and I didn't know when I released I've been compiling
4:58
data and coins for almost a decade now for my own personal like files my own
5:05
encyclopedia and I always go through these catalogs with a fine-tooth comb to
5:10
see if there's anything that I don't know already and more often than not there's tons of it in fact actually it's
5:16
funny I mention that because on my desk right now I was going through some back
5:21
issues and moving things around here back issues of olden businesses from the 1980s and when I I have to clean up my
5:29
office every now then my wife does not let me keep millions of books and so what I ended up doing is I haven't going
5:35
through old periodicals not collectible ones that real ones relax and when I find pages of stuff I want to hold on to
5:42
that I want to learn more about that I want to put in my my archives my files I rip them out throw the rest of the way I
5:49
don't need all that ads and stuff and uh and then I go to town on this when I have a few minutes I add it to my list
5:55
of things to know and and all of my writing and in the streams I do it's helped out tremendously most valuable
6:03
thing I've ever done for myself is to just keep track of everything I've learned so that I can always fall back
6:08
on it because you don't remember everything croak so nice I certainly don't let's get into some of these coins
6:14
let's start looking at what exactly I'm going to be looking at at the sale I'm
6:22
gonna be honest a few of these coins that bids on so you bid me out that's fine I'm not gonna bid you up I've
6:29
already put my numbers in if the high bid is a number and I have a bid on it that's it I'm not going any higher it is
6:35
uh I'm not a rich man so this without further ado let's get into this our first coin is the coin of
6:45
the 20th century when you are somebody getting into the Hobby for the first time you are always interested in
6:52
finding out about the 1909 s the D be sent and so with this you know
7:01
this is there are four mint marks you look for when you're evaluating whether
7:08
a 1909 svvv cent is authentic most of them have that slanted S on the midmark
7:15
you see this one and this one has that lower mint mark placement it's like sort of parallel to the bottom of the two
7:21
nines it's a really great piece and I'll see if I can show it to you in more detail you have just a stunning color
7:30
all throughout here and when you look at the reverse look at that it's just
7:35
really nice I try to see if I shrink it a little bit but you have you have the
7:44
one set the VDB also in the back another way to tell if it's authentic is if the
7:49
the B has a slanted crossbar so anyway the current bid on this coin is $3,800
7:56
this is the Louie elias berg specimen he needed this coin to complete his set a1
8:02
of every coin struck by the United States Mint and this is rated M at 66
8:08
red-brown that's all you know it has turned a little bit but what a great
8:13
piece Mary there you see it Brent Polk collection pedigree Elias Burke pedigree it's a great coin this
8:21
has been in Polk possession for a number of years the last time I was offered at public auction was in 1996 so current
8:31
bid 3,800 against an estimate of three to four thousand dollars number two
8:36
we're looking at a 1919 Lincoln Cent and
8:42
so for this coin you have an MS 68 red flaming red coin and this coin has been
8:48
off the market for more than a decade and previously this was part of Jack lees collection and his Lincoln Cent
8:54
collection Jack Lee is famous for his love and Morgan Dollars put to the best
9:00
Morgan dollar collections ever assembled and so this is from his Lincoln Cent
9:05
said he liked Lincoln's as well and you know 1919 that's a that's a year where
9:11
they're about almost 400 million Lincoln sensor made that year and so when you
9:16
start looking at early dates you know the ones and the first I'd say from 1909 to 1930 you know that's your early date
9:23
period and the scarce ones tend to be the san francisco issues with the
9:28
exception of the 14 d which is uh kind of scarce by the 1919 one fairly common
9:34
but you don't you don't see these coins and 68 you just use really you know moving on 1960 this is a lot seven zero
9:42
one nine the 1960 small date cent so this is the coin the kicked off of
9:47
collecting frenzy this is the coin that launched coin world magazine brought tons of people into the market the mint
9:55
basically decided very early on in the year that they were going to make some changes to the master and the die was
10:02
swapped out and the hubs were new hubs are made and the new dies are made there for new coins are made and the newer
10:09
ones had larger digits for the date an easy way to tell the difference is that
10:15
the the small date has thick stocky digits you see the one sort of like a
10:21
kind of like a rectangular domino and also the swoop of the nine and six are
10:27
tighter than they appear on the large date so this is an MS 67 red with a
10:32
population of 21 with only a single plus in that red category let you see the
10:39
reverse of that coin really nice you know a little bit of you know starting
10:44
to turn here you know these these these planets are not you know are not pure
10:51
copyright so let's move on to a 1913 s
10:57
type one buffalo nickel this is my favorite date of the buffalo nickels which is a misnomer should be there the
11:04
Indian Head or bison nickel because buffalos are not American Hamill but I love how the fields of this type
11:12
one and rustic look I mean this is just unbelievable especially on the reverse
11:17
it really comes out really comes out and look at all the luster this coin has this 1913 s the 13s is the lowest
11:27
mintage of the 13s it has Denver beat by a few million coins two million one
11:33
hundred five thousand was struck San Francisco and of course the type when you tell the difference is the buffalo
11:41
or bison is standing on the mound here five cents and the midmark are elevated and this would wear out fairly quickly
11:48
and the minute was basically compelled to make a real quick adjustment they
11:54
basically put an excerpt of line where the mound was to give the five cents and
11:59
the midmark more protection they also sort of lessen the granularity I think
12:06
or whatever you want to call this this the field what's going on in the field here and I'll show you that in the next
12:12
coin we will look at so this is a MS 67 it's got a nice color really beautiful
12:17
luster and it's a cat coin with a population of 33 with 85 ms 60 days the
12:23
finest and only 11 and ms 67 with a gag sticker nun finest it's at a carpet of
12:29
2800 in his estimate of 4,000 of 5000 so it's in a great price point right now
12:35
all right moving on this is a 1919 s Buffalo and this is as you see and type
12:42
2 and remember what I was talking about that sort of rustic look in the fields gone it's pretty much gone I when the
12:49
type twos and now you see basically more of a base in here to give them relief more room to to so be struck up you can
12:57
see it again on the reverse and less rustic looking it's more sort of mirrored nice Bowl and so this one has
13:04
great color really great color and you know I'm not paper the 1918 s should be
13:10
a tough issue okay you know I said 7.5 million coins were struck that year but
13:16
most of them entered into circulation 1918 and 1919 this is completely
13:22
coincidence a very bad time in America there's a major pandemic then the
13:27
Spanish flu which of course did not originate from Spain at all originated here and we sent it there and people got
13:33
sick and actually more soldiers more American soldiers us were succumbed to
13:39
the flu than actual fighting just sad to say of course the times are different I
13:45
think that we are currently in a better position to deal with section thing at least that's my that's my hope going
13:52
into the next few weeks moving on this is a lot number seven
13:57
zero three six a 1943 B Jefferson nickel and this one is a stunner M s 67 plus
14:05
full steps so full steps become kind of harder to find later in the series
14:11
because the hubs and dyes do not exchange the full step information and
14:18
therefore the coins cannot be impressed with it unless the dyes are extremely
14:23
new and yet a very very lucky set of circumstances but with a fifty six percent copper 35 percent silver and
14:30
nine percent manganese alloy that we use was used during the war years it was
14:35
much easier to strike well-defined versions of slags design can you see the
14:42
steps fear in the reverse beautiful bald collar on this coin hard to hard to not like it if you like
14:48
Tony again you see that Pope certification you know for the original
14:55
collection when it was sold it was 1792 to 1838 essentially so when you see
15:01
these 20 century coins with this great pedigree you know these coins are gonna be special sacks of ours actually it's
15:08
funny they yesterday this coin to be about a hundred to three hundred dollars but knowing the modern point market as I do there's no way okay you're going to
15:15
get this going for a hundred and three hundred dollars currently sitting in a bid of 1,300 and I don't think that's
15:21
the end of the road on that no no moving on let's go to a great coin
15:28
here 70 49 lost 70 49 no I often joke that Mercury dimes are
15:35
with gold cat stickers there's one of a gold CAC sticker but but usually I'm
15:40
talking about Rattlers you know the way the grading standards have sort of adjusted especially for the Mercury dime
15:46
series so this one is MSAC seven full bands CAC
15:52
gold label and this one is great I appeal and the only thing I can say the
15:58
only thing that I think I agree more or less with PCGS on this this you see the
16:03
bottom of the screen there there's like a little hit there the cheek it's like mostly concealed it's like right here
16:10
mostly concealed weapon sewing but it is there and then you see the reverse here
16:17
Cystic gorgeous nor is this coin gorgeous clean mmm anyway
16:24
that one has a estimate of seven eight hundred dollars in the bids belong pass ads at 3200 next coin this is from the
16:32
just having fun collection I remember in this auction was offered by Stax powers in 2011 but a lot of great Roosevelt
16:37
dimes they sold for bananas money they asked to make this is going to be about a five to seven thousand dollar coins
16:43
currently sitting at 3400 so it's below bid and the only thing on this coin is you know it's a little bit dark spot
16:49
right here but Tony's remarkably beautiful all throughout like really
16:55
nice and yeah a little bit on the spot here a little spot there but yeah that's that's the lady sin stone you can't you
17:02
can't predict but yeah so this is a great Roosevelt dime and you know we'll
17:10
see how it goes on the that set moving on to quarters and this is a remarkable
17:16
piece this is a lot 71-62 we're looking at a beautiful ito named s 67 CAC saying
17:24
Liberty quarter 20s is one of the key dates of the series it's really tough to
17:30
find this in full head and I'll show you how much of a head this one has and see
17:35
the front of the back there the head of this coin is almost completely there it's like just a little bit of flatness
17:41
there but you know as much of the details are gonna get on a coin it doesn't earn that designation it's just
17:47
got great here it doesn't color and there's only nine examples
17:53
full head at 66 so this is 67 without it you're not paying the 17 year
17:58
80 grand you'd have to pay for one with a full head so this is a this is a great Buy
18:03
I think card bends $5,500 TAC population of six by the way and a 67 and I don't
18:11
know if any on that color like that move out of Washington's love Washington
18:16
quarters so here's her 32 D Washington quarter an MS 65 plus on paper the 32 D
18:25
and 32 s would be the keys but when it actually comes to Jim coins that's when the D really sets itself apart there's a
18:33
piece of just population of five points in ms 65 plus with only two finer at ms
18:38
66 and this is an example with a great toning on it so you still see that satin
18:44
that's satin finish you blow that up a little bit and you still see it there you know a little bit
18:50
of die polishing marks but this is a really nice coin just some marginal
18:55
contact works throughout the reverse is equally pleasing maybe more so depending
19:01
on your taste and toning and again look at it and you look at the holder you can really see how flash it is and so anyway
19:09
this coin has a current bit of $11,000 it's a fifteen thousand eighteen
19:15
thousand dollar estimate and again they're only two fighter and those are in ms sixty-six very tough date to find in gem another
19:25
quarter oh man this is the gorgeous coin current bid of 1,800 dollars on this nineteen no 46
19:33
this is a lot 7231 ms 67 a plus kaq again gorgeous Tony they're two ticks on
19:41
the obverse that I've seen you know there's one here you know this one here there's a long ones I think are really
19:47
visible usually you see these quarters they get scuffed up here they get scuffed up here they get hit really bad
19:52
in there it's not uncommon to have some stuff going on here so this is a this is a nice coin and MS
19:59
seven plus and you know the reverse was
20:05
equally good actually I would say even more stunning I love this this ribbon of fuchsia at the bottom of a coin it's
20:12
really a standout piece oh I love these Turner these Washington quarter Turner's around you're unreal
20:19
and so anyway here we go the pre-sale estimate it was 2,000 to 2,500 and it's
20:24
currently at $1,800 all right moving on a few years there is a lot number 72 43
20:33
another beautifully toned George and you got a 60 stepping tack on this one and
20:40
you know if you think about it folks it's got a 420 current bid again I said
20:47
420 I'm not going to comment on that but for affordable coins with spectacular I
20:53
appeal and a poke pedigree you don't really get much more affordable than
20:58
this I mean this is a collection with many many million dollar coins in it but
21:04
he like this coin enough to take it take a chance on it add it to his collection of washing quarters he had a great eye
21:11
for it and this is coin just just dazzles and you know it's anything that you can get
21:19
with this pedigree at this great that this color for under a thousand is a bargain
21:25
here's another coin man full disclosure
21:31
I might bid on this so this is a lot seventy to eighty seven this is a 1964
21:38
the final year this 90% silver circulation strike Washington quarters of course they were made in 64 and 65 I
21:45
believe because they did a date freeze so while they were making the clad 65s
21:51
they were trying to keep you know to plena SH their stock of silver planets
21:57
and add the clamp allegiance to circulation and so you got this this coin here there's no way to tell which
22:04
64 was made in 64 which one was made in 65 other than if you actually got them
22:09
delivered in 64 you know they were made 61 but once the double mint sets kind of
22:15
moved away we went to that lat Playa film packaging you started to see in real diminishment and the number of
22:22
coins from the 60s so that had the Tony that you saw from the Doublemint sets
22:27
and this coin is very very seldom seen in color like this look at that
22:34
unbelievable unbelievable now last coin was 420 and it looked great this coins like under that it's
22:40
like $100 cheaper CAC sticker ms 66 and you go find me 66 Washington quarter
22:47
from 1964 this kind of color and and get it for less money than this one's going
22:53
for and you you know found something truly remarkable so anyway this is a
22:59
great coin absolutely great coin great price right now I think this coins like a five or six hundred dollar coin easy
23:06
you might even find like some dealers asking for $1,000 or more for a point like this because you can't you can't
23:12
just replicate it you cannot replicate coins like this and get them through the system and get this kind of deep rich
23:19
original doing you just can't do it all right let's move on here's a nice Franklin for those sophisticated typeset
23:26
collectors not the rare estate to find full belt lines and not the highest grade you'll see but it's still quality
23:32
coin this is a 1957 with the MS 66 full belt lines see if my blow-up will show
23:38
the bowlines and it won't won't me see if I can move it here hold on a second
23:43
there you go really cool it's a full belt line again nice nice nice color all
23:51
throughout and you know good price right now you're looking at $650 further this
23:58
coin with an estimate of 500 to a thousand bucks and again tag sticker
24:03
poke pedigree alright let's move on now here's a rarity a real genuine rarity
24:10
1964 Kennedy half-dollar special mid set specimens 67 plus we don't know really I
24:18
mean there's no real great confirmed reason why these coins are
24:24
different why they were struck there why they exist this has got some of the tell-tale marks of the special mid-set
24:31
or specimen I would say a variety there's like that dangling for others on
24:38
the reverse you see right click over there the reverse you see some thigh
24:45
polishing lines around the of and so there are Diagnostics that are apparent
24:51
I think the National numismatic collection has these coins in their holdings sent directly from the mint I
24:59
think we know the reason we know about them is because these coins are parent and we were able to study them in The
25:06
Misfits this were able to study them and notice that they were different you also see that the sort of that age is
25:11
different then on your standard 64 so we're looking at an opening bid here 42,000 an estimate of 60 to 80 grand on
25:19
this coin very significant piece and the last time this was sold according to a
25:25
US tax was in 2010 so be interesting to see if this one hits it's opening bid or
25:31
reaches its estimate but that's a significant point folks here's a nice toner not as rare yeah clearly this is
25:39
an MS 67 or specimen 60 I'm sorry specimen 68 so this is a special mid set
25:45
point from 67 one of the things that makes us different is your typical special men set comes in that plastic
25:51
holder they do not typically tone like this and this one is a nice toner front
25:57
and back really beautiful I love color our coins and here you see it in the
26:03
holder with without the light exiting the new lots of that color and you see
26:08
it on both sides so this is a really nice piece and you know 1.8 million
26:15
special men set half dollars were struck not many of them have color like this or available in this high grade move Ananda
26:25
where I love to be the I dollars so I'll tell you a little bit about these coins
26:31
and health scares they actually are in this color having collected at the very
26:36
highest level like dollars I can speak really in depth about these coins so the
26:42
72s is the first $8 silver this is the blue pack Ike's the first ones that
26:49
actually come nice the 71s is our abominations the mint felt so probably
26:55
so bad about the way they turned out that they included a cya card and the blue tint and the packs that say that
27:02
these are struck just like circulation strikes and they didn't have hits and bag marks and stuff like that but I
27:07
think collectors did not like that and as such you see the men shifting gears
27:13
and you see a much higher emphasis on quality control and you know with this
27:21
we're looking at a coin that is you know much clearer
27:29
you know satin finish the works and with with that being the issue you you have
27:37
many more coins making the grades of 67-68 you run the mill coin you're going
27:42
to get out of a pack is going to be a 67 66 67 and then I would say about 15 or
27:49
20% may qualify for 67 68 and very few
27:55
were gonna get 69 but this one has great color just beautiful color nice luster
28:01
and at 68 I would say that this in my opinion with this kind of color is
28:07
probably about a five or six hundred dollar coin and we'll see how that goes like I said you can find finer but if
28:14
you're looking for just pure I appeal this coin is great I peel you know that nice cobalt few show line around those
28:22
little rim and sort of pull off color I guess you call it and then you see here again you know just like a little galaxy
28:29
of color around the face so there's that one then we move on to lot 73 one two
28:37
this is a 66 plus 1974 PC just very reluctant to give higher grades in 66 on
28:44
70 for circulation strikes for some reason some of the finer ones I know have sort of a lacquered coloration or
28:51
our lacquered kind of I appeal layer or whatever you want to call it on the surface and they have this aqua color
28:58
and this one has it throughout I don't think this is one of the nicer 66's I've
29:04
ever seen to be honest with you it's okay it's middle of the road for me I've
29:09
seen finer 66's but this they get the CAC sticker at 66 and it is 66 plus they
29:16
estimate 900 to 1200 population of 12 I've held and know the finest and that's
29:22
a 67 that was some James CEOs collection then in the collection of Troy Weaver and Troy Weaver sold his set as probably
29:29
the finest of like dollars I think ever built and so folk wasn't privy to the
29:35
Supertop specialist coin for this date but he put a really nice one in his set
29:41
moving on to 73 thirteen this is a beautiful rainbow tone 1976 d-type to
29:49
the type twos have the thinner lettering they were also released than the 1976
29:56
special mint sets or mint sets set of the 75 s which have the bicycle coins as
30:01
well my opinion is Denver for the circulation strikes always struck that our clients in Philadelphia and the
30:09
finest Denver outlet for the Bicentennial came in the 1976 type twos
30:15
so getting an MS 66 isn't like incredibly difficult but overall it's
30:22
hard to find these coins without lots of hits here and the moon there's no place
30:27
to hide the hits says a little bit of finger printing going on here which has toned out over the years you can't can't
30:35
conceal it but it is part of the character of this coin and you see that one dollar United States of America and
30:43
then you see how lustrous the 1760s can be really nice coin this is the kind of
30:49
coin that I know dealers who specialize in like dollars are definitely gonna look for play some bids on and find a
30:55
retail customer for you can beat that middleman IP suggest I mean science
31:00
powers up this cleaners gonna go between 50 and $100 but you know seriously the IKE dollar market is way
31:07
more sophisticated that's not they're not simply looking at coins and the grades on them they're
31:12
looking at the overall eye appeal color and all other factors including the earliness of the dye state and so for
31:20
the premium coins you can throw all the price guides out the book the serious Ike dollar guys will go high on these
31:27
coins they have their own internal dialogue about what they think these coins are worth and you will see a lot of competition for coin like this and
31:34
here's 1976's Bicentennial dollar and ms 68 oh god this issue makes me cry I tell
31:42
you a little personal story my uncle who lives in North Carolina collects coins
31:48
he got into it I think my grandmother collected coins and every year she would buy set from the mint for herself and
31:56
one for him and I remember several years ago I went down and he was just showing me his coins and this is when I was
32:02
already a published author and a big-time Mike dollar collector and so I
32:08
was going through his coins looking at his mint sets and everything he had an original 1976 three coins silver set
32:15
right and and what I mean by original is that it was purchased when it was issued
32:21
and it was not manhandled or thrown around it was like a third tenth owner I
32:27
had it and it basically had been in its envelope and it had been sealed for all
32:34
that time and from the time I looked at it to the the time it was bought he
32:40
might have looked at it when he got it thought I was neat prettier way and that Ike dollar and that kennedy half were on
32:47
real unreal the Kennedy half graded em s 68 and so did the Ike dollar and it
32:57
broke my heart and a great at em s 68 because I could not see a flaw in it not
33:03
in the obverse and not on the reverse the only thing it had going against it
33:08
is that it had that sort of contact discoloration you see when a coin is
33:15
touching that plastic a long time and so I asked around I
33:21
asked everybody I asked sophisticated collectors I knew I asked dealers and I
33:26
asked leading figures in the grading industry what should I do with this coin and they said if you get it conserved
33:35
and probably go up I was as convinced as the finest one that exists or that was
33:40
found as of yet and so I had it conserved and I think that just like Gore just lost her in head was lost when
33:48
it got dipped and although it retained it same grade and her you know got rid
33:53
of that discoloration it just lost something I ended up selling it I think I sold it for the equivalent of 1500 or
34:00
2000 dollars worth of coins that's another sophisticated like dollar collector definitely wanted it and a few
34:06
collectors really vying for that coin and I was hoping that I would have the coin that broke that ceiling that's 68
34:12
ceiling butter but alas I did not PC just now has a solitaire or two at 68
34:20
plus I have not personally seen them NGC claims a 69 but man this coin is tough
34:26
to find higher than 68 and again it's like there's nowhere to hide scratches
34:31
and especially here on the moon that's where they always appear this coin did not catch I don't know if it why I
34:38
wouldn't have not in the grading room attack but it is certainly a quality
34:43
looking 68 currently it's a bit of 340 there was a time and these are going for four or five hundred dollars so let me
34:50
interesting to seeing what people will end up ponying up for this lot 73 1 4 s 1976 ass from the Polk collection
34:58
I believe these coins are part of the Foxfire collection be honest with you that a collector or dealer Richard
35:03
Burdick helped the Brent put together I think you miss every single one of these coins are from that collection I know
35:10
Brent had his own collecting interest but he did have representatives throughout the industry throughout the year cell phone bill coins build his
35:18
collection because let's see into a certain level I think you can't let it be known that you're interested in coins
35:23
because it's very hard to get fair pricing at that point and the last coin
35:29
I'm going to preview from the century second-last penultimate coin is
35:35
a lot seventy three one five this is a 1981 d susan b anthony dollar and ms 67
35:40
nice cobalt color oh man this looks like so it's like neon lights to me what a
35:47
nice-looking coin I mean that from the color standpoint and so this coin has an
35:55
estimate of two to three hundred dollars the eighty-one DS are a little tougher to find nice and the peas but the eighty
36:01
one essence are the hardest to find nice there is a solitary MSC c8 and NGC
36:08
holders and I don't think FPC jess has graded anything over sixty seven for the state and this meant current bid again
36:16
at four twenty and no comment there and the final coin I will talk about just to
36:22
show you what kind of collector brent was there are some lots in here that are not what you would expect on certified
36:28
coins he had modern commemorative coins he collected capital holders with nice
36:33
sets he had some vintage albums with some circulated coins and he also
36:38
collected silver eels and here's a complete set of circulation stripe American Silver Eagles dated 1986 to
36:46
2017 many of them are directly from US Mint sealed boxes and they're in ms69
36:52
and you see them here direct from sealed
36:57
boxes I guess brick want to put these together because he a fan of numismatics
37:03
classic numismatics rarities and also you know wherever that took him anything
37:10
they meant put out he's interested in that's a certain degree so you can have all the money in the world and buy
37:16
anything you want and still find joy and getting the you know basically these
37:22
little bullion coins so that's a current bin is seven hundred dollars and you're
37:28
getting thirty four coins with that and it's just a cool little thing that I
37:33
just wanted those to point out before we left so anyway that kind of sums up my
37:39
thoughts my feelings about the Pope collection it's going to be great auction great opportunity if you
37:46
love moderate points there are so many coins in this club the Sun I didn't bring up I basically made a decision
37:52
when I was breaking down all the Lots I like that I just wanted to give the 20th century coin a fair shake you know
37:58
really talk talk them up the collection has quite a number of 19th century coins
38:03
that are equally as amazing many coins are even rarer there's a million dollar coin in this sale and I didn't bring it
38:09
up not that we shouldn't but because I wanted to keep this on the 20th century
38:14
stuff I ever loved 20th century coinage I think it's really beautiful and it makes me remember like when I started
38:20
collecting as a child the local coin shop had giant blow-ups of Mercury dimes
38:26
and buffalo nickels and when I think of coins I just think of it as early 20th century coins and having those junk boxes or
38:33
they'd have the Liberty nickels and the buffalo nickels and and looking through them and grabbing all the different
38:39
dates and not knowing anything about rarity or which ones their keys just like oh I don't have this one I don't
38:45
have that one oh there's one I don't have and so I just like I just like looking at those coins it's just that
38:51
takes me back anyway I hope you guys have a good week I'm glad and give you about 20 30 minutes or however long the
38:57
stream is of coin fun you know it's a time we're really more concerned about
39:03
other stuff but we do need some time for ourselves and decompress from it all and I'm gonna keep talking about coins we're
39:10
gonna have another stream tomorrow Hubert and I are gonna be writing different content because I'm covering
39:15
different topics there's more to talk about at the Stax power sale and I definitely want to cover some other
39:21
things I think are cool they should know about I just maybe even the story is that that stories are cool and we're
39:26
gonna try to keep this up as long as we can and you know sue mning we stay we
39:32
stay able to beyond me here so for coin week for the entire staff I hope you
39:38
guys have a good evening great dinner with your family enjoy your time with your coins and we'll see you
39:44
soon and a few days I'll announce so I'm gonna have a collector Q&A where I will
39:49
try to go in without prepared remarks and just answer your questions I think on coin week in the next next
39:56
day or two we'll post the schedule the topics we plan to discuss so there's a particular stream you might want to see
40:02
you'll know when we're going to do it police thought one shoot to do it and we'll see how it goes
40:07
so for coin week I'm Charles Morgan and I'll see you soon and thank you for
40:13
tuning you bye bye
