Download our android app for job oriented courses https://clpsheldon.page.link/x3kb In this lecture, I have discussed briefly, how to decide the minimum space required for a staircase. Before designing a staircase, the first thing we must do is to decide the size of the Riser & the size of the Tread. If we need to design a staircase for a residential building, the minimum size of the riser should be kept 6’’ to 7.5’’ or 150mm to 190mm with a minimum tread size of 10’’ or 250mm and the minimum width of the flight to be kept between 3’ to 3’6’’ or 0.9m to 1.1m. On the other hand, if we need the staircase for a commercial building, the minimum size of the riser should be kept between 5’’ to 6’’ or 120mm to 150mm with a minimum tread size of 12’’ or 300mm and the minimum width of the flight to be kept between 5’ to 6’ or 1.5m to 1.8m.
