Download our android app for job oriented courses https://clpsheldon.page.link/x3kb In this lecture, I have discussed briefly, how to decide the minimum space required for a staircase. Before designing a staircase, the first thing we must do is to decide the size of the Riser & the size of the Tread. If we need to design a staircase for a residential building, the minimum size of the riser should be kept 6āā to 7.5āā or 150mm to 190mm with a minimum tread size of 10āā or 250mm and the minimum width of the flight to be kept between 3ā to 3ā6āā or 0.9m to 1.1m. On the other hand, if we need the staircase for a commercial building, the minimum size of the riser should be kept between 5āā to 6āā or 120mm to 150mm with a minimum tread size of 12āā or 300mm and the minimum width of the flight to be kept between 5ā to 6ā or 1.5m to 1.8m.
