Sabino Canyon Walking Tour - Tucson Area Virtual Treadmill Walk - 4k City Walks
Mar 19, 2025
We are in Tucson for a couple days and we love to hike. Luckily Tucson has a ton of outdoor activities to explore. The trail to Seven Falls one of the great hikes near Tucson and is just on the edge of the city and very easily accessible. This virtual nature walk starts above the falls and I take you back to the shuttle bus stop. It's about 2.7 miles long.
The shuttle bus requires a ticket but takes you from the Visitor Center up to the trail head. You can walk that as well but it's out on the flat and if it's hot out, I'd recommend the shuttle.
I love filming these virtual walks for you all and I love getting feedback so please leave a comment with your thoughts. The next walk will be a proper City Walk in Tucson. Cheers and keep on steppin' -H

hello Walkers and welcome to Arizona we are in can Sabina Sabino
0:15
Canyon a Coronado National Forest at the Seven Falls I should know that I
0:21
memorized it and now I'm totally drawing a blank um and we're just going to do a
0:26
little nature walk today beautiful beautiful day Desert Canyon here outside
0:31
of Tucson in fact we can kind of see a glimpse of Tucson in the background
0:36
there excuse me and uh it's just going to be uh I
0:41
don't know how long it's going to go we're going to find out I'm going to flip you around
0:47
here my name is Henry I'll be your proxy Walker today your virtual travel guide your
0:53
co-discoverer emphasis on co-discoverer I'm gonna flip you back around oh one more
1:00
one two three there we go and this is the Seven Falls this is
1:06
where we hiked up to it's not running right now but apparently last year it
1:11
was almost hard to get up here and tons of swarrow cactuses and um other
1:19
cactuses Chola cactuses I think they're called just
1:25
beautiful thank you to our patreon supporters uh I got a new supporter just
1:30
the other day uh links below you can also buy me a coffee ko. fi.com link for
1:36
that or PayPal of course not necessary um what I really appreciate in addition
1:42
to that stuff is your comments I love getting comments you guys the uh I love
1:49
interacting with you it's one of the biggest advantages of this channel one of the biggest
1:55
surprises and things that I enjoy and as we walk down this canul and I might
2:02
mention a few things a few close-ups maybe
2:07
um and what else do I normally say oh yeah it's about 53° here I think that's
2:15
12° Celsius but dry love these
2:23
big um swaro cactuses super fun
2:37
this is a popular Trail uh you can take a shuttle up from the
2:42
base uh cost $8 and you get to skip a mile of walking along the
2:50
flat there and then the trail system actually goes up makes a big loop couple
2:56
of spur trails that sort of thing
3:08
love the texture of the Rocks morning morning morning excuse me
3:17
are you GoPro oh I'm just uh filming for a YouTube channel City walks nice yeah
3:24
you too thanks
3:32
my son down there by that water has taking the road last
3:56
traveled morning morning how are you
4:03
morning go
4:15
ahead we're actually in a Wilderness Area right
4:22
now which means you can't bike up here or do a lot of mechanical stuff
4:37
I was also noticing earlier uh groups of folks groups of hikers and having a great chatty time
4:43
and the sound really bounces around in these rock walls look at these awesome
4:55
SAR it's on the one hand the noise is a little bit much in a natural surrounding
5:01
but people are having a good time out on the trail so it's hard to argue with that you
5:06
know and everybody gets to enjoy these shared public
5:13
lands the way they know best or you know what they find their
5:19
own Joy look at
5:26
these beautiful I don't know how long is going to go um took us about an hour and a half
5:33
to walk up so we may not film the whole Trail um or maybe we will we'll see
6:40
morning morning
7:15
it's
8:04
isn't it cool to see like this Forest
8:09
of sarrow and then this is I think the Chola maybe or maybe it's a different
8:15
one I don't really know my cacti cactuses I think sorry I'm going
8:20
swing around I think this might be the cholo I'm probably getting that name
8:26
wrong too but let me know in the comments section I do do love a gentle
8:31
correction want to get the correct information out there this
8:39
one very cool love it and then over here we've
8:44
got the skeleton of one kind of interesting to see that
9:06
the striated striations striations in this rock here
10:50
pardon me
10:59
love the Shadows creeping
11:06
down I didn't mention the time or the date it is the 6th of January early
11:16
January and about 11:00 a.m.
11:54
I think I'm going to just uh take a second here and
12:01
put on a wide angle
12:10
adapter how does that look a little
12:16
better all right a little wider anyway
12:32
swing you back here we going to go on a switch
12:42
back we'll get back down towards the creek level I do like
12:49
these high up views though they are pretty
14:21
the temperature I mentioned earlier was what was on my phone but I think it is cooler it's probably about 10° fhe
14:27
cooler in the shade look at these awesome sorrow
14:36
here look at these guys over
14:42
here that
14:48
cool morning good morning excuse
14:53
me all right
15:39
I don't think it's going to take us an hour and a half to get back we're making good time here we
15:47
stopped on the way up a few places get photos and uh take off layers that sort of
15:52
thing
17:10
look at that view up
17:16
there make a left turn here I do that
17:22
to I try not to swing this thing around too quickly it can be disconcerting if you're on a treadmill doing your workout
17:29
or rowing machine or something walking at home uh so I try to do it slowly or at least
17:36
give you a heads up that we're going to make a turn or something
18:03
look at these little ends here it's kind of neat little fruits
18:10
maybe or beginning of a new
18:16
section then you got these big prickly pear patches and we get prickly pear up
18:21
in Montana but nothing like that size at least I haven't seen it that size more
18:28
about the size of a silver
18:42
dollar hi there hey how you doing good
18:48
thanks oh they sorry that's all right my bad no worries
19:08
these giant rocks
19:16
here very cool I love the way you know the flooding and flash
19:23
flooding has uh carved out this rock and these Canyons
19:29
I some of it's this Granite looks like a lot of
19:36
quartz and then you get up into the redder darker stuff
19:42
now here is a tricky Wicket this is it I
19:52
think looks like I took a little side route
20:02
look at the the light I think you can see
20:11
it just checking for smudges oh there we go hopefully that
20:18
wasn't too too bad the whole time
21:03
[Music]
21:08
look at this well we'll you'll get up here a little bit and see it nice pool
21:13
where we stopped on the way down big steps big steps
21:28
you get the light peeking through the Peaks down into the valley floor
21:51
ahead some residual water down in here that pool I was talking about
22:18
definitely a lot of foot grabbing rocks in this part of the trail
22:33
luckily and I'm not getting sponsored by this or anything but I got this new I've gotten
22:39
this new DJI osmo pocket 3 and I am just loving it and I like to give them a
22:47
shout out because they really it's not the it's not a camera that does
22:54
everything but what it does it does really well and I'm stoked about
23:00
it especially for the price point it is a little pricey but you know you have to
23:07
pay for quality and given the quality I think the price point is more than fair
24:21
oh I also wanted to mention that they have a nice little Visitor Center at the trail
24:26
head uh bathroom coffee cart volunteers to give you
24:32
information a bunch of different traal Bes in addition to this one oh look at
24:37
that oh so
24:43
nice uh just it's super easy access uh
24:49
you do have to pay you have to have a either pay a day fee or have a pass we
24:54
have a national parks pass so we used that
24:59
we get so much value out of that Parks pass it's amazing um and such a benefit
25:06
to the public to have the parks and the pass if you live in a
25:13
place that's with an easy access of national parks and national monuments and National historic sites often times
25:21
that pass will work for you morning good morning how are you good how are you today very good yeah
25:28
yeah
25:39
people on the trail are almost always happy I I'll tell you something look at
25:46
that beautiful foliage here in January oh look how the
25:52
oh look at that all right so look at how those um sarrow are back lit a little bit they've got that edge light on them
25:58
I think you can there we go isn't that
26:04
pretty
26:12
cool I'm going to take this wide angle thing off
26:38
oh very cool so beautiful
27:35
oh there's a little arch up here kind of in that distance behind
27:42
that Center swarrow there you go you see
27:47
that see if I can point it out again here in a
27:56
minute morning how are you
28:15
thanks all right just behind that little throw that last little knob on the left
28:23
there maybe you can glimpse a little daylight through it pretty cool
28:30
whoa no worries it's about there little above that finger
28:37
point
29:38
morning morning hi
29:54
there morning hi there
30:57
oh excuse me morning good morning how you doing good thanks you
31:57
oops
33:55
you can see this used to be a series of little steps and let the water through
34:00
it looks like maybe a bunch of them have gotten torn out over the
34:06
decades tumbling rocks forced by flash floods or any kind of water really will
34:12
do it look at this love that those
34:22
Sentinels beautiful
34:37
you can definitely see how you would want to do this walk in the morning or
34:43
evening so that you have the benefit of the shade especially as the weather warms
34:50
up right now though it's very pleasant look at this green
34:58
green branches very
35:05
cool and then the purple of this Cactus too let me see if I can get in
35:12
there wild
35:48
nice tunnel of maybe these are mosquit trees and
36:31
hi there
36:37
hello so I'm not I'm not sure how I'm going to edit this out but there was a gentleman uh taking a leak next to the
36:43
trail so if there was a gap in the video that's why I don't know if I
36:49
accidentally got that on camera or not um hopefully
36:55
not not that kind of Chan
37:35
hi there thank you
37:54
sir hi there morning
38:46
there oh man I admire the people that can trail run these Trails seen quite a
38:52
few people doing that this morning I think fewer as the day warms up
38:59
but that is a level of Fitness that I've never
39:05
achieved which is fine
39:52
[Music]
40:05
that
40:35
for
41:18
they do warn that in wetter periods of the year or Seasons or years you because
41:25
of all these creek crossings you're liable to get wet feet so either bring
41:30
some sandals or hi there hi we uh hiking wet
41:54
feet hi there
42:27
for
44:30
this bit of this Trail is really nice and Sandy very easy the whole Trail is
44:36
really um quite achievable quite doable I haven't felt like we still got
44:42
a ways to go but I haven't felt particularly stressed or out of
44:48
breath it's been really nice of course I'm at a lower elevation than I'm used to so that
44:54
helps um I think especially if you had a set of trekking poles or walking
45:01
poles most people would be let me repas that most uh able-bodied
45:08
people would be uh not have too much trouble with this Trail
45:29
h
45:52
no you want a picture like that
45:57
yeah but they said she been very um Cooper and there was no
46:15
alcohol it's interesting to get Snippets of people's
46:21
conversations wonder what the full story is
46:32
so in the morning the bus the little shuttle bus runs every 15 or every 30 minutes I
46:38
guess and then in the afternoon it goes to an
46:43
hour and at least this time of year hi there this time of year it's done
46:48
at I at 4:45 and so you get plenty of
46:55
opportunities and honestly I think it's only another mile or so down to the visitor center and parking
47:01
lot so even if you were to miss it you'd have a fairly easy
47:06
walk back to the
47:15
cars get down into some proper trees I think these are mosquite trees
47:20
but I really I don't know these green ones I'm not sure what they are
47:43
nice breeze coming through
48:43
hearing some interesting bird songs foreign to my ear really
48:49
pretty do like picking those out birds are amazing creatures and
48:58
beautiful and there's so much about them that's interesting but uh I think the appeal to me is just
49:05
being able to identify and and pick them out little guy
49:11
there not particularly good at it but I do enjoy trying
49:59
thank you all right
50:37
there's a mother and kid off to the left in the
50:43
uh riverbed here just having a little exploration of their natural
50:50
surroundings and I just I just love that I think that's great we used to do that a lot with our kids more Melinda doing
50:56
that um but it's such a wondrous experience
51:02
as a kid to be able to discover things and as adults honestly pretty pretty cool to do that's
51:10
one of the reasons I do this channel
51:18
honestly here's a gate up here of I think they close when the trail
51:23
conditions are unsafe oh and Tada here is the trail head at least
51:33
no that's not true it's just a rusting spot
51:41
sorry hi there maybe an
51:47
old spot for the shuttle bus but now they've
51:53
closed off this road to vehicles
51:58
all vehicles I guess and now we got a little ways to go
52:03
before we get to the actual uh shuttle stop and then of course the trail head as I mentioned
52:11
starts at the um at The Visitor Center in the parking
52:16
lot but you can take the shuttle
52:41
Look Back Down out the canyon and some big mountains in the
52:47
distance very cool topography in some houses um very
52:52
cool topography in this area um kind of the low rolling desert and then these big
53:00
mountain ranges jut up big naked Rock um beautiful colors especially in
53:08
early morning and evenings
53:43
this incline I try not to do inclines on these walks
53:49
because I end up huffing and puffing quite a bit and I don't think anybody I wouldn't
53:55
want to hear it so I assume others don't either but sometimes it can't be avoided
54:02
and I'm setting a pretty good Pace
54:07
too look at this walk through the Sorrows love
54:15
it such a cool experience and a good
54:24
workout we're going downtown this afternoon to get some local food and
54:30
explore restaurants and shops and that sort of thing see what there is to see and uh hope my legs are going to be
54:37
a up for another walk hi
54:48
there I'm sure I can rally for at least a short one
55:31
there are people walking on that dirt road but I kind of like this
55:37
Trail a little more amongst oh look at these flowers here I not really flowers
55:45
but fruits maybe traveling Mel would know
56:53
and we can look back up the canyon where we've from once we've come I
57:01
guess almost to the base of that Peak I guess not to the peak itself
57:07
of course but down below kind of where the two V forms there
57:16
anyway I think it's I want to say 3 miles or 2.7 miles
57:22
there and back another 2.7 so that's what we will have
57:28
done on this
57:39
walk it's just such a joy to be able to do this and to share with you
57:47
guys thank you for allowing me to n away um I've been doing a lot
57:54
of uh this thing called a five minute journal or gratitude journal and I've
58:00
been doing that just in my mind all these wonderful things that we get to experience and to be
58:07
grateful for one of the things of course is the
58:14
ability to share this stuff with you and the feedback the feedback is just
58:21
wonderful love the comments not every comment makes it through the YouTube
58:27
filters which is probably a good thing but the ones that do I reply
58:34
to you see the sparkling
58:39
rooftops of uh of Tucson Suburban Tucson out there
58:59
okay gang this I think maybe I was supposed to go to the right there yeah I don't
59:05
want to go off Trail here this is the actual shuttle stop shuttle stop number
59:11
three um and a place where several a couple
59:17
different Trails take off I think um we did the Seven Falls Trail thank you guys
59:22
for joining me I love sharing these with you as I've just said and get a chance to do them myself so thank
59:28
you for joining me thank you for your comments subscribing all that fun stuff we will see you again possibly from
59:34
downtown Tucson probably from somewhere else or possibly from somewhere else until
59:40
then keep on stepping
