4K City Walks - Livingston Montana USA - April 20 - Suce Creek Road - Virtual Treadmill Scenery Walk
Mar 17, 2025
It's still too snowy to hike the actual trail but we take you along the access road to the Suce Creek trail head. The views of the valley and forest are wonderful and the sounds of early spring are delightful. We see no bears, which is good because I forgot my bear spray.

good morning walkers and welcome back to
0:09
Paradise Valley Montana
0:11
today is April 20 it's about 9:00 a.m. I
0:15
would say it's about 35 degrees
0:18
Fahrenheit maybe 2 degrees Celsius 1 to
0:21
2 degrees I'm not sure cuz I can't get a
0:24
cell service here we are starting out at
0:28
the Seuss Creek Trailhead the Seuss
0:31
Creek Trail goes up there loops around
0:33
and then back down to Sue's Creek and
0:36
eventually goes into the absurd
0:38
bear tooth wilderness area we are not
0:42
gonna walk that way I walked up there
0:43
yesterday with my son and it was
0:45
beautiful but very snowy and probably
0:47
not quite ready for a city walks quality
0:50
walk also I forgot my bear spray and
0:54
this is a prime time for grizzly bears
0:58
to be out looking for food and I don't
1:01
want to surprise them I want to let them
1:03
know that I'm around and they will try
1:06
to avoid me I was yelling I walked up
1:10
here and I was yelling hey bear coming
1:14
through all the way up just to let them
1:17
know because they don't want to be
1:18
around people and I don't want to be
1:20
around them at least without something
1:22
solid between us we are going to walk
1:26
down the Seuss Creek Road this goes
1:29
through some private property we are in
1:31
the National Forest right here but then
1:34
the road cuts through some private
1:36
property easements but there is a right
1:39
away so we can walk it we can bike it
1:41
you can ride a horse or you can drive
1:44
just a little business let's
1:46
housekeeping I guess leave us a comment
1:50
if you like this or if you think we
1:52
should be doing something better or you
1:54
have a preference or you want to share
1:56
something a personal story or how you're
1:59
using these videos share with your
2:02
friends that's always helpful and is
2:05
makes it possible for me to continue
2:07
doing these it'll give us a light thumbs
2:11
up kind of thing hit that Bell and
2:13
subscribe the Bell lets you get notified
2:17
whenever we release a new video we're
2:20
trying to do at least two a week we were
2:23
up to three but the current restrictions
2:26
are limiting that a little bit our
2:29
ability to go out and film what else
2:32
Oh current situation in Montana I think
2:36
there's about four hundred and thirty
2:37
total positive corona cases there are
2:42
have been unfortunately 10 fatalities
2:45
which is very sad but compared to a lot
2:49
of other places I think we've been
2:50
getting off luckily lucky in large part
2:54
I think because the government shut us
2:57
down and imposed a lot of his
2:59
restrictions early on and tightened
3:02
those as they thought it need to be done
3:06
and I hope that we will continue until
3:09
we have enough testing to guarantee that
3:15
we won't have a second round here I
3:18
think we will have to open up some time
3:22
obviously but for now until we can get
3:26
do it right I think we should should not
3:28
that's my personal opinion what else it
3:33
is a beautiful day here no wind which is
3:37
obviously pretty unusual you can see
3:40
this is the road and the road is not
3:44
quite as legally open but you can't get
3:47
up here in a car just yet
3:48
in fact we'll pass a couple places where
3:51
people tried unsuccessfully it also is a
3:57
little bit slippery four-foot footing
4:01
and so I'm trying not to eat it like I
4:05
did a couple years ago in Livingston
4:07
hurt last year maybe
4:09
when it was super cold and I stepped on
4:11
somebody's got a lot of spruce up here a
4:17
lot of Aspen that haven't started to bud
4:19
yet so you can tell we're up much higher
4:23
than in town where the trees are
4:25
starting to come out the grass was
4:26
growing even seeing some flowers and
4:31
then we have a lot of willow down in
4:33
here and these little creek bottoms this
4:35
is a place where someone tried to come
4:37
up and it looks from all this snow out
4:39
to the side
4:40
looks like they had to dig themselves
4:41
out I've been there there are in this
4:55
area all kinds of awesome creatures
4:58
which hopefully we won't see including
5:02
mountain lions which I have never seen
5:05
one in the wild black bears and grizzly
5:08
bears which are starting to come out and
5:12
we would like to avoid those there are
5:16
also deer which I saw a couple on the
5:18
way up
5:19
I saw squirrel which are actually
5:22
surprisingly with all the trees and
5:26
forests around here I don't see a lot of
5:29
squirrels
5:31
there are elk which I haven't seen for a
5:34
while there are moose which we hope not
5:37
to see because they're one of the more
5:39
dangerous animals up here they are big
5:43
massive animals and they of a tenancy
5:46
that charge
5:52
a lot of dark-eyed junco I've been seen
5:54
this morning these are little birds
5:56
about the size of a sparrow we've seen
6:13
some black cap or no Mountain chickadee
6:16
sorry beautiful spring day and up ahead
6:23
we will have some pretty spectacular
6:26
views back down to Paradise Valley and
6:30
maybe even of the hog back that we hiked
6:34
a couple days ago last week it's funny
6:40
how slowly time is passing in these days
6:46
things happen so quickly that seems like
6:52
7:05
if you haven't checked it out check out
7:06
our other YouTube channels traveling
7:08
they'll also to be found at traveling
7:11
know calm and social media and then
7:13
amazing nature relaxation therapy which
7:17
is just ambient nature sounds and scenes
7:19
and then that's half of it and the other
7:22
half is wildlife footage set to music
7:27
relaxing music here's another spot
7:57
someone pushed their luck which wasn't
8:02
here yesterday when we walked we parked
8:04
down below and walked up and this was
8:07
certainly not here so this is fairly
8:09
recent can say they slipped off almost
8:14
to the side and had to cut a bunch of
8:16
branches and stick some stuff to get
8:18
some traction
8:42
it's pretty slippery
11:21
that is Paradise Valley down there and
11:24
you probably can't make it out but one
11:27
of the ridges on the other side of the
11:28
valley is Hogback that we want when
11:38
these uh there's a big aspen grove over
11:40
here and in the summer and the fall it's
11:44
absolutely gorgeous and has this really
11:47
sweet smell to it
11:51
moose and other animals love to forage
11:54
in there in fact I saw some moose
11:57
droppings earlier and I forgot to keep
12:01
an eye out for them so I'm not exactly
12:04
sure where they are but you know that's
12:08
pretty exciting stuff
12:20
I'm really envious of the people that
12:23
have places down in here this little
12:28
Valley so secluded quiet
13:23
if you have any questions about this
13:25
area or about Livingston or Paradise
13:27
Valley please let me know in the
13:30
comments below I'll do my best to answer
13:32
him Warr about visiting Montana my wife
13:35
is a travel writer and blogger and she
13:40
knows pretty much everything you need to
13:42
know traveling mill and in fact I think
13:47
she had to go down to California for
13:51
family reasons and I might send her a
13:54
camera today so she can do some more
13:57
City walks she picked up some slack for
13:59
me when my knee was injured so maybe
14:04
we'll get some variety here Yellowstone
14:11
is currently closed the park and it's
14:15
been interesting we've been talking
14:16
about what that means for the animals
14:19
that live there and now that they're not
14:20
seeing the influx of people and traffic
14:25
I've been reading a lot of articles
14:27
online about other areas that have seen
14:30
a lot of animals coming into places in
14:35
their parks where they would not
14:36
normally come into that's encouraging to
14:39
see give them a little breather
14:57
really cool value up in here the light
15:01
on the hill is beautiful
15:36
somebody's put a excuse me
15:40
vertebral vertebral column here and
15:43
forced her to sign it said Road easement
15:46
through private land lease or please
15:49
stay on road next half mile so we've
15:53
been about a half mile so far I'll put a
15:55
map or I'm sorry a link to a map below
15:58
showing you at least where the location
16:02
of the trailhead is you can follow the
16:04
road if you'd like
16:28
it's like somebody's dog found a big
16:31
stick and left it here see some tooth
16:34
marks on it a lot of people walk their
16:36
dogs up this road
16:46
a lot of great color in here with the
17:01
greens and the whites and the Yellow Sun
17:31
some dead trees in here with a lot of
17:34
holes that are used by flickers and
17:41
woodpeckers and even owls as little
17:43
homes if you like owls this organization
17:53
called explore org has teamed up with
17:56
the owl Research Institute to have some
17:59
nest cams webcams on a variety of owl
18:05
nests I think they have great horned
18:08
long eared and possibly another species
18:13
that's up in your Charlotte Montana and
18:18
the owl Research Institute is a really
18:20
great organization minimal if any
18:24
government funding all private and they
18:26
do long-term field studies of owls
26:02
cattle great here for those of you that
26:05
aren't familiar with these they are
26:08
places or structures that they've
26:12
created that cows can't get across
26:14
because their hubs won't stay on the
26:15
bars but that you can drive across so
26:18
you don't need to put a gate that has to
26:20
be open and closed this is a wonderful
26:30
view of the valley and out to Paradise
26:36
Valley where the Yellowstone River is I
26:38
think we're gonna end here excuse me
