Will Trump being "very angry" at Putin and Zelenskyy impact tariffs and Russia-Ukraine ceasefire?
Apr 2, 2025
Donald Trump has said that he’s “p*ssed off” at Vladimir Putin and ready to unleash massive tariffs on the Russian economy.
It’s a U-turn for the US President and an unexpected show of support for the Ukrainian President, Volodomyr Zelenskyy.
He said in an interview with NBC News on Sunday night that if Putin blocks a ceasefire deal in Ukraine, he’ll slap Russia with secondary tariffs on oil – and isolate countries who buy oil from Russia from doing business with the US.
Trump slammed Putin for attacking Zelenskyy’s credibility – which is slightly surprising, just a month on from essentially attacking the Ukrainian president's credibility himself.
He says that his anger could “dissipate quickly” if Putin “does the right thing” and gets in line to agree to a peace deal.
