President Trump touches down today at Stansted Airport – one of Greater London’s less glamorous terminals – for his second state visit. It’s the result of months of negotiations, and an unprecedented security operation, but for Keir Starmer it will be a relief to at least change up the headlines. Partly in an effort to stem protests, Trump is being kept far away from central London, and is set to be greeted by the Royal Family at Windsor Castle. And while he may be able to temporarily divert the media’s attention away from the government’s myriad crises, there are significant risks involved in the state visit.
