Why Brits are hoarding cash and not investing in stocks
Fears over falling stock prices are prompting UK savers to avoid investing and instead park their earnings in cash. According to online trading platform IG, three in five savers believe retail investing is to risky, despite government and leading industry figures encouraging Brits to increase their exposure to the stock market. Over 70 per cent of people credited disclaimers as deterring them from taking the initial step away from cash and benefitting from the long-term wealth building opportunities offered from the stock market. Brits were also shockingly unaware of the impact inflation has on cash savings and its ability ultimately eroding the amount saved, by weakening the purchasing power of money.
