Kemi Badenoch made an apology to the City this week in a bid to restore the party’s relationship with businesses. In an interview with City AM, Badenoch said: “The Conservative party is the natural party of business." She added that she is “sorry if at any time over the last 14 years we did not seem like that”. The Tory leader sought to build trust with businesses by trying to restore the party’s credibility on the economy, telling City AM that the Conservatives are now “the only party that is talking about fiscal responsibility and trying to get spending down rather than just increasing it a little bit more slowly”.
