Hi, I'm going to show you how to make the most delicious sweet cheese kugel
0:05
If you're using raisins, and I strongly recommend that you do, put them on the bottom of a colander
0:10
Boil your noodles only to the minimum amount recommended on the manufacturer's packaging
0:16
Once you drain the water from the noodles, pour the noodles and the raisins back into the large pot
0:22
or a heatproof large bowl. Put the butter pats into the noodles and mix it up. It should melt
0:29
within a couple of minutes. If your butter is still really cold from the refrigerator
0:35
that's fine. Just cut it into smaller paths and let it sit in between the hot noodles. It will
0:41
still melt quickly. You can put the paths of butter in between the noodles and just let it
0:50
sit for maybe 30 to 60 seconds then give it another stir
1:08
To make the custard crack all six eggs put them in a bowl and whisk it just lightly so that the yolks start merging with the whites
1:17
While the order here does not necessarily matter, I like to first whisk into the eggs
1:38
the vanilla, the milk, the brown sugar, the cinnamon, and the salt
1:47
Once that's fairly mixed together, I like to add in the cottage cheese and the sour cream
1:59
and then whisk it thoroughly. Some people like to put this entire mixture into the blender to get it to be really smooth I don find it necessary and I find it to be annoying because then I have a blender to wash
2:30
I like to just whisk it like this and I like seeing the curds of cottage cheese
2:34
While you can't feel the texture, I like seeing it in the kugel. But that's my personal preference
2:40
Then you're going to mix the noodle and raisin mixture into the custard
2:45
or you can pour the custard into the pot with the noodles
2:49
It doesn't really matter. Just get it all mixed up. Pour the mixture into a greased 9 by 13 inch pan
3:15
Try to spread all the noodles out so it's more even in the pan and fully immersed in the custard
3:28
To make the topping mix all the dry ingredients together and then stir in the melted butter If using corn flakes that you crushed yourself do it by weight Weigh out the amount needed for the recipe and then turn them into crumbs Just mix it together with a fork I like to do this
3:45
part while the noodles are boiling. Sprinkle the cornflake topping all over the top of the kogol
4:30
Bake it for about 45 minutes. The edges will be slightly pulling from the sides and the center will not be jiggly
4:41
Let it cool a little bit before cutting it. Enjoy
