Welcome to day seven of the 30-day mixed
0:03
media card challenge using craft
0:05
supplies you've got at home. If you want
0:07
to find the others, look on the screen
0:08
for the link. Look in the description
0:10
below or just take a look on my channel.
0:12
But today, we're going to be making this
0:14
card here. So, let's get started.
0:19
I'm just going to use an ordinary piece
0:20
of card that's folded in half or a card
0:23
blank if you prefer to buy them. And
0:25
we're just going to use some pages from
0:27
an old book. Now, my advice here is look
0:30
for old encyclopedias, old travel books,
0:33
old gardening books. They have some
0:36
great pictures in them and lots of text
0:39
obviously, but the texture of the paper,
0:42
the color of the paper, having it aged
0:44
is great. And then just cut out some
0:47
sections and then try positioning them.
0:50
So, you can see all I'm doing here is
0:51
laying them out. But the real attraction
0:53
for me here with this page that I cut up
0:56
was the flower pictures. I think they're
0:58
just glorious. They're just so nice. And
1:02
it's going to make such a vintage card.
1:04
And that's what I'm going for here. So,
1:08
play around with your arrangement before
1:12
and adjust it. Move them around. Do what
1:15
you want to do with it. And then it's
1:17
simply a case of gluing them on. Now,
1:19
I'm not going to use my trusty glue
1:22
stick. I'm going to use a PVA base glue.
1:26
Now, you could just put them on with a
1:28
glue stick. That's absolutely fine. But
1:30
I recommend the PVA glue approach. This
1:33
one's labeled up deccoage glue, but it
1:35
really doesn't matter. Is because you
1:37
can stick it down and then you apply the
1:40
glue over the top as well and it just
1:43
seals it all beautifully and it gives
1:45
you a really nice finish and you're not
1:47
going to catch the edges and neither is
1:49
anybody else and pull them up. So, just
1:52
keep putting them on where you want them
1:55
and doing the layout. If you're enjoying
1:57
this video, please give me a thumbs up
1:59
so it spreads to more people and keep
2:04
So, as you can see, I'm very liberal
2:05
with the glue. You want it all over
2:08
everywhere. And you've also got to think
2:11
about what you want underneath and what
2:13
you want on top to make sure you glue
2:14
them on in the right order, which can
2:17
sometimes be a little bit of a
2:21
So, let's just put this one on down
2:23
here. So, I've just left a little gap at
2:24
the top. I'm going to put my little
2:26
header across. And then just leave it
2:28
all to dry. Before you do anything else,
2:31
you want it dry. And then you can
2:33
embellish it to your heart's content.
2:35
You might do some freestyle drawing. You
2:37
might glue some more things on. Or you
2:39
might do like I'm doing here, which is
2:40
just stenciling some small flowers on.
2:43
It's just to add a little bit more
2:45
depth, a little bit more interest.
2:48
They're not really really in your face.
2:49
I'm just doing them in black, but you
2:51
could go bright colors. But as I say,
2:53
I'm looking for that vintage feel on
2:55
this card. I'm not going to put a
2:56
greeting on it, but I'll put a link on
2:58
the screen so you can print off my free
3:00
greetings if you want them. But I'm
3:02
going to leave it like that because I
3:03
think that's perfect to send to a friend
