2:12
i'm a founder of c-sharp corner and everybody welcome to the show
2:18
um if you are joining us first time welcome to the show if you're joining us back welcome back
2:25
to the show um you may already know if you're coming back this show is all about you and today
2:32
we are going to talk about web 3 there's two topics i want to talk about today is one is a
2:38
web 3 and how do you become a web 3 developer it's an interesting topic and i'll tell you why
2:46
is important if you are a software developer. And then second topic I really want to talk about is David tweeted out yesterday that
3:00
I think the students and kids should learn programming in high school or even junior school
3:09
Junior school means eighth grade, ninth grade. Do you have to read the second
3:15
So we're going to talk about two topics today, Web3 developer, and then when should you start learning programming
3:26
So, yeah, I'm here in Philadelphia outside. It's nice summertime here. It's, you know, 80 degrees, nice outside, a little bit hot
3:35
I still have COVID, but it's going away, looks like. Line is going down every day
3:43
So everybody, welcome to the show. ICMD, Deepak, Ishika, welcome to the show
3:49
Also, you guys can ask any of your questions, anything about career advice, anything about
3:54
jobs, anything about consulting, startups, your own problems, community, anything you have, any questions you have, feel free to ask your questions here
4:05
This is, you know, two-way show. If you ask more questions, I will try to answer those questions
4:11
Feel free to jump on. and topic can be anything it doesn't have to be programming really it doesn't have to be
4:20
anything else but my background is uh you still hear simon you still hear noise on my computer
4:30
i thought i muted it out shouldn't you shouldn't see here oh because from the camera i see i will
4:38
move this of it how's that let's see how's this this is better hopefully because I moved my laptop
4:49
now from all right so sounds good so I have Deepak here ishika welcome to the yeah software
4:57
engineers are joining from office yeah so bunch of these things we can type any questions you have
5:02
anything about this during this uh you know working from home working from office all that
5:09
so first thing first how many of you really know anything about web3
5:16
if you know anything about web3 let me know post your comments i have written an article already
5:22
on c-sharp corner what web3 is and there's a few more articles coming up on web3 and
5:30
little background on web 3 so you know if you look at the history of web you know a bunch of
5:37
people expert they have broken down into web 1 web 2 web 3 web 1 was early days when there was just
5:44
like html text pages online it was nothing much web 2 is when it's like images videos social media
5:52
So right now we are kind of going through the last page of Web 2.0
5:58
And now Web 3 is coming, knocking the door. They're calling it Web 3
6:03
So what separates Web 1, Web 2, Web 3? There's an article, What is Web 3
6:08
In the C-sharp corner, as Simon is sharing it here, you can learn what does Web 1, Web 2, Web 3.0 really mean
6:16
and the reason right now we're talking about web 3 is because the technologies involved in web 3
6:22
now kind of start growing so there is a big demand of web 3.0 developers and this demand will continue
6:29
to grow and i'm not saying you know you're just going to go leave everything and start jumping on
6:35
web 3 but this is something you want to think about let's say you want to learn something new
6:39
and you want to change your job to something exciting carrier you want to get something new
6:44
that's probably something you want to look for is web 3. So web 3 obviously involves a bunch of technologies
6:53
One is blockchain. Second one is, you know, obviously special web and also 3ds and metaverses and decentralization
7:05
The decentralization is the foundation of web 3.0. So, yeah, look at more on that
7:11
What today I want to really talk about is how do you become a Web3 point developer if
7:16
you want to become or how do you try to become or start jumping into Web3 right now
7:24
I don have any slides or anything So if you have any questions I want you to really you ask me any questions you have But before I go with Web3 let me go back to the question
7:37
a question David had other day. And I want you to really get involved
7:43
And I want your view on what you think of that. So David tweeted out other day, maybe Simon
7:47
you can load this, his Twitter account. And he said, what is your thought on what is your thought on
7:56
Can you make the screen bigger, too? It's hard to see. Yeah. What is your thought on the students should learn computer programming in in junior school
8:08
Junior school is really. I think fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth grade, sixth, seventh, eighth grade here in the U.S
8:15
so what do you think what do you think that should student learn programming
8:22
in like a 6th, 7th, 8th grade I tweeted out for me
8:27
I don't think so right when you are a young student your goal should be not
8:33
just focus on you know computer programming think of that as computer
8:37
programming is it's one thing it requires is time consuming so you need a lot of time
8:45
right it's just because there's so much to learn it's like a different programming language it's
8:50
a different language it's like learning any language um so when you're learning a new
9:01
language it requires a lot more time it's not something you can just do it as you've been doing
9:06
for past years that's why i personally think i personally think that students young students
9:13
should focus on more their physical health mental health communications social rather than too much
9:23
into being like a coding and math and all that and why sure we can create genius kids but
9:32
personally I feel like there has to be a physical and mental growth before your intellectual growth
9:39
right before your knowledge or your your your education growth that's what my view is on
9:49
what do you think simon what do you think you think kids should start learning programming in
9:54
sixth grade what do you guys think so yeah post your comment what do you think when should students
10:01
should start learning programming all right money said something so yeah uh so that's my view on it
10:09
and it may be because of my background you know i grew up in a village and doing you know it's not
10:15
like i was a big athlete i was not an athlete but i thought i want to become an athlete so it all
10:20
depends on background too right so your background uh it plays a major role here as well uh obviously
10:27
every programmer thinks that everybody should be you know even even like big companies like
10:31
microsoft and google and facebook and they're all kids for coding coding for kids coding for kids
10:39
what they have an agenda okay when businesses are promoting coding for kids is totally different
10:46
because businesses need more programmers in future so based on that they want to create
10:53
more programmers. They don't care about kids' health. They don't care about
10:57
if they are successful or what. They want to create more programmers
11:01
so they can continue working for them. And that's really this Growth Mindset Show is all about that
11:07
You can be a great programmer, but are you happy in your life? Are you successful
11:11
in your life? Have you achieved what you want to achieve? If you
11:15
are happy, you are making good money, you like your job, programming, that's awesome
11:19
That's great. But not everybody's happy doing coding, but they do because this is a job for them
11:26
This is, and that's, that's the problem. So some people love problem solving
11:33
Some people love being programmed. That's great. But when a company says, oh, coding for kids, bring these five-year-old kids to learn coding
11:42
Well, that's, I don't know. I, that's not me. I'll just keep all kids away from computers and devices and let them just go have fun, go in the rain, go outside, play sports, do whatever else, but not to be on computer
12:00
To me, I think it's computer sitting with them is less physical and that creates a lot more problems in the long run
12:10
You can be a genius programmer, but if you're not healthy, it's going to affect your whole life
12:15
It's going to affect everything, not just your personal life, but everybody around you
12:19
It's going to make everybody's life not so healthy. So that's how my view is on that
12:26
All right. Looks like Manish and MD and everybody agrees. Simon, I'm not sure
12:31
He said no, not at all. I'm not sure what that means
12:37
So anyway, so that's my view on that. So David, I covered your question
12:42
He said I should talk about this. I'm talking about it, that programming should not be for kids
12:47
Sports should be for kids. Programming is something you can always learn
12:52
Here's the good part, right? So if you want to become an athlete
12:59
you cannot just go and become an athlete after a certain age
13:04
If you want to become a tennis player, you cannot just say, oh, I can be 35 years old
13:09
and become a world-class tennis player. I don't think so. This is not how it works, right
13:14
Because physical abilities are, stop growing. You're physical. You as a human being, human beings reach their full potential physically
13:24
probably around, I don't know, 25 years, say. So that time is your top
13:28
That's when you are at the top. So anything physically you have to do before that to become successful
13:36
So that's kind of view on it, right? So programming, yeah, you can start programming at 25
13:42
and you still be a genius coder. Nobody's going to stop you that. For example, there's some sports, golf, for example
13:48
chess, shooting. You can still learn even when you're old, but there are certain things you cannot
13:53
because you're just physically not capable of it. So that's my view on it
13:58
You can always go and become a programmer. And I've seen a lot of people
14:03
they learn programming when they are adults. They're 35, 40 years old
14:08
and that's when they learn programming because they like programming. you can always learn it
14:13
You don't have to go to college for being a programmer. So, all right, Simon agrees
14:20
I mean, I would not learn coding at an early age. Yeah, so everybody agrees
14:25
All right, good. We should bring David on the show and we should debate on him in that
14:29
because he thinks, not only him, a lot of people who are programmers
14:33
they think that kids should start learning from early days. And it's not their fault
14:38
It's how they are brain fed by these large companies. Okay, it's a pity and sad that when companies pushing agenda that oh coding for kids, and
14:51
then we as you know either MVP or like oh let bring a bunch of kids and learn they should know about coding yes maybe in high school because that when they start thinking about their
15:02
career what they want to do so maybe high school is a good age because and when i say high school
15:09
i'm thinking about 9th 10th 11th 12th grades maybe 10th is 11th is a 10th is a good time when you
15:15
start thinking about that okay i'm not going to be in any sports but i'm gonna i like programming
15:22
i like computers that's where that's probably a good time not before that and even at that time
15:28
i would stress too much on that because even in college i talk to everybody who goes to college
15:34
and a lot of those kids don't even know what they want to be in college they'll say i don't know
15:38
first semester we're gonna see second semester we're gonna see and many of them then they change
15:44
because initially they are basically told by their parents, oh, you're going to become an engineer
15:52
You're going to become an accountant. And I'm talking about the U.S. I'm not talking about India
15:56
I know in India you don't really change. Whatever your parents decide and your job is
16:01
that's where you focus on more. But here in the U.S., I see many young students
16:07
they go to college and the first two years they change totally. And I would say that number is probably 50%
16:13
50%, if not more. You know, I may be wrong, but I'm just guessing based on
16:19
I don't have data on it. I'm just guessing based on people I talk to
16:25
I had this, you know, bunch of people. I'll give you an example
16:29
I have a young girl. She was working for me on marketing side and social media
16:33
She said she will go to college for accounting and then end up staying away from accounting
16:40
Then I had other guy. he said he'll go for business and they went to sociology somebody went to politics it all changes
16:46
so uh yeah so that's the problem is right so parents here so that's another thing is that
16:55
you know if in the long run you don't do what your really interests are then chances are you
17:03
won't be happy you may make good money you may make good living but when you go to work in the
17:08
morning you'll be like oh no again I have to go to work again and when you're ready to leave you're
17:14
like let's leave work so when you see this way oh I have to go to work again and oh yes four o'clock
17:21
let me start looking at my watch four oh I almost ready to go home that's a sign that this is this
17:28
job is not for you if you are ready to leave and you don't want to go to work in the morning you're
17:35
not happy when you wake up that that's a sign that you know this job is going to be miserable
17:41
for you if that's what you continue to do uh and i'm not saying you can go and leave job because
17:47
obviously there are certainly a lot of limitations as you know growing up in india i know exactly
17:52
if you have a good job being a programmer even though you don't love it you're still going to do
17:57
it because it's a good living for you and that's fine nothing wrong with that so all right so far so good so let's talk about web 3.0 and you know there's another article
18:12
written by one of our mvps on web 3.0 programming languages top programming languages so to become
18:21
a web 3.0 developer if you want to become a web 3.2 developer you have to obviously know
18:28
a programming language, which is by default, it's like prerequisite. It's not even an option because you are going to become a developer
18:37
You're going to, you know, so you have to know a programming language
18:43
And then let me text. Somebody's texting me during my show. Just a second
18:51
uh sorry about that yeah i keep getting text on that so i had to kind of
19:07
so yeah so this is another article written by one of our mvps for spain and he wrote that
19:14
you know top programming language for web 3.0 so first requirement to become a web 3 developer is
19:20
you have to be a programmer or developer so it can be a web developer and the reason you need
19:26
a one of those programming languages and there's more programming language it's not just one as
19:30
long as you know one of the one of the popular programming languages uh doesn't matter oh come on
19:38
I am live okay somebody's texting me um sorry um so yeah so first thing is you have to have a
19:56
programming language understanding and working experience it can be c c++ java rust python
20:04
Solidity, C-sharp. So that's something you can, you have to have that
20:17
It can be any, JavaScript is one of them. The reason you want is because you're going to work with one of the blockchains
20:23
So when you think of a Web 3.0, it's not a one area
20:27
Web 3.0 is like being a developer, right? You can be a developer
20:31
What kind of developer? You can be a front-end developer. You can be a backend developer
20:35
You can be a full-stack developer. And then, in front-end, you can be a React developer
20:42
You can be an Angular developer. You can be a Blazor developer. You can be an ASP.NET developer
20:46
You can be a JavaScript, CSS, UIS, UX developer. Back-end, you can be writing in Java
20:52
You can be writing in JavaScript. Node, you can be writing in C Sharp
20:56
You can be writing in anything. So there's so many options out there. So that's when you think of Web 3.0
21:01
So Web 3.0 is even bigger than that. So Web 3.0 includes blockchain
21:07
Web 3.0 includes, you know, this metaverse, which means virtual reality. This means 3D graphics and animations and videos
21:19
And it also includes spatial web. It also includes AI and machine learning
21:25
It includes digital assets. So it's like a big washed area when you think of Web 3.0, right
21:33
So you can pick and choose what your interests are. So if you are a front-end developer, you may end up building a front-end web application
21:42
where in the back end, you may end up using one of the blockchains, right
21:48
So that means to work with a blockchain, you may just be using the APIs
21:52
or you may be writing a smart contract on that programming language that blockchain supports
21:58
So there is a blockchain, for example, Ethereum. If you want to write a smart contract on Ethereum, you need Solidity
22:05
But if you want to write, say, I don't know, a smart contract on a, you know, Binance, you can use Solidity for that
22:15
You want to write on Algorand, you can use Rust and Python and other language for JavaScript for that
22:19
If you are doing a Stratus Stratus is one of my favorite because you know it you can write your smart contract in c sharp so it the same like any other discipline web 3 is a very big big big big
22:35
think of big ocean here you have to pick your area what you want to be you can be a back-end
22:40
blockchain developer right and just writing blockchain code and c++ that could be one area
22:45
other one could be you are building an nft marketplace when you say nft marketplace nft
22:52
marketplace means a website or an app where you can people can upload their images and their
22:58
digital assets and you can create nfts from that that means now you're building like a website like
23:05
any other website but the data and the transactions and all that will store on a blockchain
23:12
So this point is that there's so much to learn. So first thing you need is a programming language
23:17
Then second part, you need to decide what area in Web 3.0 is your skills are or your experiences or your interests
23:26
So if you want to become a, you know, back-end developer, then you will probably learn these one of the core programming languages like C++, JavaScript, and Rust, and Python, or C Sharp
23:42
But if you say, I want to become a front-end Web3 developer, then you just need a lot of web front-end development experience with some back-end API calls, right
23:51
Or you may just be in a team where you're doing the front end and somebody doing the back end and somebody's doing the metaverse in 3D part, right
24:01
So Unity, for example, Unity is a big part of this whole metaverse
24:07
Unity or any or one of those languages, tools and languages that will let you build these virtual worlds, right
24:15
So unity if you are a good unit developer, you know how to create these 3d assets and also
24:22
You know have animations in all the games you would create a lot of games. There's a lot of gaming
24:29
Applications are part of web 3 right now So there's so much out there. Yeah, go ahead and read that article. But if you want to become
24:38
Web 3.0 developer, I know I'm saying million things here, but you have to pick and choose what your interests are
24:43
and you don't have to know all of them right this right now obviously you can know all of them but
24:49
you don't need all of them to become a web 3.0 developer then other part of web 3 also comes
24:57
right so the the good thing about web 3 right now is that there's going to be a big demand of jobs
25:05
and they're going to be high paid jobs because there's not too many developers out there so
25:10
So that's going to be a good thing in coming time. If you ask me, I can already see
25:15
Purushwetam, welcome. Purushwetam, welcome to the show. Yeah. If you ask me, if you're trying to learn something new and exciting
25:23
that's something to look for. So with that said, hopefully that helps you
25:30
like if you want to become a blockchain developer, right? So you've got a bunch of key areas right here
25:35
One is programming language. Other one is blockchain. Third one is special web and 3D and metaverse and Unity
25:49
Unity, again, obviously, you can use C Sharp as a language as well in there
25:53
Fourth one is you can create NFTs. So NFTs are also part of programming, but you can create on any blockchain
26:01
And depending on the blockchain, you'll need a different programming language. so anybody has questions so far that kind of covers our you know brief show today um
26:11
obviously i didn't want to spend too much time but i'm writing an article on this i'm writing
26:17
a detailed article on it's taking me forever um how to become a web 3.0 developer uh that article
26:25
should be coming on c sharp corner soon and i don't know sometimes takes longer time to write
26:30
articles. With that said, so that covers our today's topics. Ravi Kanth, welcome to the show
26:38
If you guys have any questions about career or jobs or community, anything, feel free to ask
26:45
your questions because this show is all about you. My goal is to help you out. If I can answer
26:50
any of your questions, that'll be good. In the end, let's do a few things we want to
26:57
do a little bit house cleaning here. This show is every week, 12 noon
27:07
Then we have a bunch of conferences coming up, right, Simon? You want to share some of the conferences coming up
27:11
and some events coming up? Oh, so before conference, we are starting C Sharp Corner chapters
27:19
in-person chapters. So there are going to be a bunch of announcements
27:24
in your local city. watch out and look for announcement on C Sharp Corner website
27:30
as well as in social media that there's a bunch of chapter events
27:34
coming in different cities. Besides that, we are bringing a few in-person conferences
27:43
And they're going to have conferences and these events are going to happen every month almost, if not multiple times
27:49
multiple events in a month. But one of the exciting conferences coming up is C Sharp Corner
27:55
annual conference. It's in October and this year we have made it even more exciting
28:02
If you know the history of C Sharp Corner annual conference, it's one of the largest. We used to do
28:07
that in Delhi only, but this year we are planning in five cities. So you can look at that. We are
28:14
starting with Cheney. So a bunch of speakers are flying in from U.S. and Europe and there's going
28:21
to be local speakers as well in India. So you will see the list of speakers coming up soon
28:26
But our goal is we're all going to fly to Chennai. From there, we're going to have a conference there
28:32
Then we move to Hyderabad, then Mumbai, then Jaipur, and Delhi. In Delhi, we're going to have a grand finale for the conference
28:40
and also the MVP part of the conference there as well. So if you are a C-sharp corner MVP, you will get invitation to come to Delhi
28:52
And if you're familiar with the MVP program, you get free hotels and we cover the expenses of travel, I think, and a bunch of other things
29:00
So check out that. If you need more details, contact the MVP group on WhatsApp and other places
29:08
With that said, I think that covers today's episode. Thank you so much for hanging out with me on this Friday
29:15
Everybody have a good weekend
