Indian Missile Test Illuminating the Bay of Bengal Night Sky
May 13, 2026
The Indian armed forces recently test-fired a long-range missile from the Abul Kalam Azad Island in the Bay of Bengal. Although there has been no official statement from the Indian government on the test, experts believe it is likely to be a K-4 or a sophisticated system from the Agni series. The launch came at a time when a Chinese special surveillance ship, Yuan Wang 07, is stationed in the Indian Ocean. The Chinese ship, which is mainly capable of tracking satellites and ballistic missiles, has been operating in the region for the past month. The whole thing appears to be a display of military power and a growing competition for strategic surveillance in South Asia. It is believed that India is trying to verify its defense capabilities and missile technology superiority through this test.
