Hey everyone and welcome to Bourbon Bites Whiskey Reviews with a gaming twist
0:17
I'm Clifton and today we are doing a blind Larceny Barrel Proof Flight
0:23
So this is a continuation of last week's stream. Last week, I actually did a blind Elijah Craig barrel-proof flight
0:31
That was interesting. I'm not going to spoil it. If you missed that, go check the replay over on YouTube
0:37
That should be posted now. But today, we're going to do Larceny Barrel Proof, which is, of course, another three-batch
0:43
release from Heaven Hill. It's new as of this year. This is the first year they have done Larceny Barrel Proofs
0:49
And I know that there's been a few other YouTube channels that have done this. Notably, It's Verbonite did it last week
0:54
I purposely did not watch their video because I wanted this to be fair. I didn't want to have any
1:00
outside influence because like I said, I've not had any of these except the A. So this should be
1:04
very, very interesting. So I hope you stick around and catch that. Of course, if you missed
1:09
Electric Craig last week, that's always something to catch up on. Let me know, have you guys had any
1:13
of the Larceny Barrel Proofs? Literally, the A batch was the only one that showed up here in
1:18
Southern California. I never saw the B batch. I saw the B batch of Electric Craig Barrel Proof
1:22
but not the Larceny B-Batch. So just curious which one showed up in your area and when
1:27
because I was fortunate enough, Fred, who's a viewer of the show and patron, he actually sent
1:32
me a sample of the B-Batch, the B520. This is 122.2 proof. And the good folks at Heaven Hill
1:39
did send me a sample of the Batch C. So they did send me that. They didn't give me the shirt
1:45
but they gave me the sample of Batch C. So these two of the three were graciously provided by
1:51
supporters of the show. We can call Heaven Hill a supporter of the show. Sure. Why not
1:55
Let's go on with the blind fight. All right. So we are on our bourbon number one. Now
1:59
I could have done like last week and named them after characters from a video game, but that got real naughty real quick. So these are just one, two, and three. So yes
2:07
it's not the most ideal thing, but I didn't want to say A, B, and C because A, B, and C is confusing
2:11
because we're talking about A batch, B batch, C batch. So I did one, two, three. So you guys will
2:15
know what's what after I go through the first time, but let's go ahead and try the first one here
2:19
So, cheers, you guys. Ooh, you know, nutty. I get nutty on this first one Now as always the first pour is never really the most telling of a bourbon The first pour of the night you got to go into a second one to compare So I will say the
2:40
first pour, I'm not upset about. And I think this is actually very good. Let's go on to number two
2:45
I guess I go through a little quick the first time, but then I'll let you guys know what I'm drinking. Hmm. Two falls a little flat on first impression, still gets a little bit into that
2:56
not quite nutty, but it's almost like a dusty, like a dustier sort of, sort of like a bait
3:03
like a pie or something. Well, dusty in terms of whiskey normally applies to it being a vintage
3:07
whiskey. However, I'm talking about the not as great dusty. I'm talking about the, um, like a
3:15
your grandmother's attic dusty. I get a little bit of note of that, which it, it can be good
3:20
but with this one, it doesn't seem that good so far. So I don't know. Two is not really
3:25
impressed me on first sip. Again, this is just first sip. I'm going to taste through these several times. Then move on to my third larceny barrel proof. I almost said the larger crack barrel proof
3:34
So, okay, so apparently the Patreon notification doesn't work because I haven't seen it yet, but I do see your notification here on my phone. Sugar Kitty has pledged $5 on Patreon. Thank you
3:42
so much, Sugar Kitty. That means we're up to like, what? Are we at like $197 on Patreon? Holy crap
3:47
We are at $197. That means if someone else joins at the $5 tier tonight, again, no pressure
3:53
support what you can. We will be over $200 a month. I am so excited for you guys. I really do
3:59
try to do a lot for my patrons. So if, if, again, if we don't, no big deal. So glad to have you
4:04
Sugar Kitty. But, um, we do have a lot of fun on Patreon. At the $5 level, you get our monthly
4:09
hangout, um, which we just did this past Saturday. And at the $10 level, you get our weekly hangout
4:14
which happens every single week. So, so glad to have you on for the ride here, Sugar Kitty
4:18
and I hope to see you at the next monthly hangout. So back to the whiskey
4:26
Number three. Oh man, you fighting. That one is hot. That one's hot. It's not as sweet
4:36
I don't think. I think it definitely comes across as like the proof hound. I don't know for sure if it's the highest proof, but number three, that's hot. I mean, it's not bad. It's very flavorful
4:46
it's like a big flavor shot it almost tastes like an elagicic barrel groove it hits in that
4:50
territory even though it is a weeded bourbon instead of a rye like rye in the mash bill it
4:55
it it it kind of hits hot let me go back to one that i tried the other two one is super it like the biggest flavor punch it not a proof punch it doesn drink like the hottest one It a flavor punch Really really sweet Almost like you walk into a bakery you get a fresh
5:13
like, Danish, like a cherry-filled Danish. It's not really cherry, but... Or more like a... I almost want to say like a cheese Danish, but I only want to say that because
5:23
it doesn't really have a fruitiness. It just has a sweetness. So it's like a sweet cream on a freshly baked baked good
5:30
And of course, there's a wheated bourbon, right? It's going to have those baking notes
5:34
especially if you're very familiar with freshly baked wheat bread. I definitely get that on A a ton
5:40
So I'm very, very curious to see now that I've revisited A. I do want to go back to three
5:45
I said A. That's why I feel like if I said A, B, and C, it would be so confusing
5:49
So number one is maybe number one so far. Let me try number three, though
5:54
number three is right there with it hits you up front with the sweetness it does have way more of
6:00
an alcohol burn but for me being someone that's like a proof for i'm okay with that i i don't mind
6:06
a really hot drink however though ah man that's that was a tough one so i will say
6:12
one and three in this lineup are very very close let me give two a second shot let me just give
6:19
another shot. Going back to two after trying both of them, it does have that sweetness
6:25
It's actually sweeter than the first two. The burn is more on the back end of number two
6:31
whereas like the third one, the third one, the burn was at the tip of the tongue. Number two
6:35
it's sweet, but it's like a sweet like frosting sweetness. It's not really necessarily the baked
6:40
good sweetness. So it depends on what you like. If you like the sweet vanilla, like if you're
6:43
someone that would just eat the frosting off of like a like glazed donut, you would just eat the
6:47
glaze before you eat the donut, you might like number two. However, I don't think it's quite as
6:53
long of a finish. I think it's more subdued, not necessarily like in flavor, just like overall
6:57
experience. It's just like compressed, you know? Stanley, I was going to highlight your comment
7:02
but I realized I'm not on stream yet, so I can't highlight it. Thanks for the samples. I joined your Patreon. Forgot last week. Congrats on hitting 200. Stanley, of course, thank you for entering
7:10
the giveaway, first of all. I appreciate all the support I get from you guys. Stanley, thank you so
7:14
much for becoming a patron. I see that now. Thank you so much. Oh, I missed RunRev, too. RunRev
7:19
you became a patron. My Patreon notification must be broke. Only the Super Chat notification
7:24
works. So I apologize, RunRev. Thank you so much for joining. And of course, Stanley
7:30
thank you for joining. I'm very, very excited to have you guys there. But Donnie did mention
7:34
that we are at 27 patrons Oh my god you guys a month Oh I gotta do something special with this So we think of something for hitting the 200 a month we gonna do something special for patreon supporters so thank y for joining here tonight that awesome number one and number two
7:48
are the closest number three is the hottest but i think number one and two really do have something
7:53
really special going on so my order believe it or not is one two three number one is my favorite
7:59
number two is my second favorite very very close and number three is not quite my favorite for the
8:05
night. So let's go and look at the results, shall we? I don't have any predictions because I really
8:09
don't know. I think my last place may be A, but I could be wrong. Anyways, with the results
8:14
I'm wrong. Oh, wow. Well then, my number one was A120, which is the first larceny barrel proof
8:24
release, like nationwide release ever. That is surprising. I honestly did not think, when I tried
8:30
it, I don't feel like I fell in love with it, but I don't know. Again, when I tried it, I was also
8:36
comparing it to Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. This time, I'm just trying it compared to Larceny
8:41
There's no rye competition that's kind of outweighing anything, but I will say, A is very
8:48
good. And if you're someone that likes A, the C batch, C920, came in second place. C920 is very
8:55
very similar to A. It's a similar proof. A batch is 123 proof, the rest are 122. So there's no
9:00
difference in proof. However, my least favorite of the night has to go to B520, which is the second
9:07
release. Sorry, Fred. I know Fred gave me the sample. So I will say they are closer than Elijah
9:12
Craig Barrel Proof. So if you missed my stream last week, I did like all three Elijah Craig Barrel
9:16
Proofs of this year. Those were vastly, vastly different. These are all really, really similar
9:21
I think that just the B batch burns a bit more than the A and C. So I guess the end result here
9:26
is they're all pretty good. If you're trying to pick one, like if you have access to all three
9:31
which more power to you, you're amazing. I don't have access to all three. I think if you like an easier sipper
9:37
especially when you expect that from a weeded bourbon, go with the A or the C. Those are like more traditional
9:41
like what you would expect from a weeded, even at Castron. Are they like well or foolproof level
9:46
Maybe. Maybe that's a different stream for a different idea. Brandon just mentioned barrel proof some different distilleries
9:50
Maybe we can do that. We can do a barrel proof weeded night. I think I did something similar in the past, but we can do another one
9:55
With that, thank y'all so much for watching until next time my name is clifton this is bourbon buys whiskey reviews with a retro
10:01
gaming twist cheers you guys
