Revolutionizing Rocking chair Slat Assembly

For decades, managing slat assembly alongside lower rungs was a challenging but a doable task. Now, with the introduction of taper-locking slat joints, the process has been transformed. This innovative approach allows me to focus on frame assembly first, then effortlessly pop the slats into place later. A curved block ensures each slat is bent just the right amount, preventing breaks from over bending. The tapered tenons slide in easily, remaining loose until fully seated. Mortices, routed with a tapered bit at a 6-degree angle, are curved to match the back's contour, and the slat tenons are steam-bent to this precise curve. While it sounds complex, the process is surprisingly quick—though not without its challenges. This method combines efficiency with precision, elevating the craft of slat assembly to new heights.
