Bandsaw Precision: Crafting Bold Miters for our Crescent Table Base

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the bold joinery and technical finesse behind our signature Crescent Table bases. These curved dining tables demand complex bent laminations—each 8" wide and 2.25" thick—and miters too large for our table saw sled. Enter our 1937 Yates American light-duty band scroll saw, a workhorse that still delivers precision. You’ll see how we tackle these oversized miters and how a light sanding is often all it takes to make the glue joints disappear. We also introduce a second, more compact base for a bistro table using a full coopered joint, also cut on the bandsaw. Both bases rely on deeply embedded threaded rods epoxied in place—ensuring a rock-solid bond.
