Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes Recipe
Ingredients: 1.5 pounds ground beef, 1 medium onion (chopped), 1 green bell pepper (chopped), 1 cup ketchup, 1/4 cup water, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon mustard, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 6 hamburger buns. Instructions: In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat. Transfer the beef to a slow cooker. Add chopped onion, green bell pepper, ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir everything together until well combined. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 3 hours. Stir occasionally if possible. Once cooked, the mixture should be thick and saucy. If it’s too thin, remove the lid and cook on high for an additional 20-30 minutes to thicken. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve the sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns. Optional: toast the buns lightly before serving for extra texture. Makes about 6 servings. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Enjoy your easy, flavorful sloppy joes straight from the slow cooker!
