How to upload a video to YouTube from your phone
0:02
That's what I'm going to walk you through step by step in today's video. To upload a YouTube video from your phone, you're going to need two different apps
0:08
The normal YouTube app and also the YouTube Studio app. To get started, we're going to open up the normal YouTube app
0:15
And at the bottom of the screen, in the middle, you're going to see a plus icon
0:19
Click on that and click on upload a video. Here you're going to see your camera roll
0:23
Scroll down until you see the video you want to upload and then click on next
0:28
Okay, so here we have the video. If we want to add a thumbnail to the video, we can click on the image right here and choose
0:35
the thumbnail. So this is a video we're uploading for our personal finance channel called Greater Than Enough
0:42
This is the thumbnail that we want on this Amex credit card review video
0:46
And then here we're going to want to add a title. The next thing we want to do is fill out the description
0:50
So we can click here to do that. We did all of this previously in Notion
0:55
That's what we use to manage all of our content. If you want to learn how we use Notion to manage a lot of our business, the content
1:01
creation process, write Notion down below in the comments. So what I can do now on my phone is I can open up Notion
1:08
Then I already have the video opened up. Here is the description here
1:12
And so I can highlight all of the description, like copy, go back to the YouTube app, paste
1:23
There's our description. Then go back. And then right now you can see the visibility is unlisted
1:30
That's what I recommend doing because we're going to go and add a few other things from
1:34
the YouTube Studio app. So if it's unlisted, only people with the link are going to be able to view this, not
1:40
anyone on YouTube. It's not going to be public yet. Then the next thing is not made for kids
1:44
So our content isn't for kids. So that's why we have it marked that way
1:48
And we can also add it to a playlist. So this is a video related to credit cards
1:54
We would add it to our credit card playlist. So that's all you're able to do here within the YouTube app
2:01
We're going to click on upload. And then set uploading to your videos
2:06
Now we want to get out of the YouTube app and open up the YouTube Studio app. If you're watching this video, I imagine you're just getting started or thinking about starting
2:13
a YouTube channel. If you want our help creating your channel, coming up with video ideas, recording, editing
2:19
and publishing your first video so you can start to grow on YouTube
2:22
We just launched a new YouTube course for beginners. If you're interested in learning more, check out the link in the description below
2:29
Okay, so from here, you can click on content. And then here's the video that's in the process of uploading right now
2:35
We can click on that. And then we can click on edit, the little pencil icon
2:41
And so here you're going to see a few more options. So click on the more options down below
2:47
And so here we want to fill out the tags. So tags are less and less important as time goes on because YouTube understands everything
2:53
you say in your videos and the title and the description, everything else
2:57
But we still like to fill these out to help in any way for YouTube to understand what
3:02
our content is about and where to show it on the platform. So we also have that in Notion down below
3:08
Okay, so here are the tags. And the one thing you'll notice, we have a bunch of phrases and they're each separated
3:13
by a comma. And you're going to see why that's important in just a second
3:17
So if we go back to the YouTube Studio app, and then we paste all the tags, you're going
3:22
to see each of them is separated, each of the phrases that are related to this video
3:28
And that's what you get if you write everything out and separate it by commas. It's really easy to pass from one note taking app into the YouTube video
3:37
And then that is all in more options. And then what we can do now is save
3:44
So the one thing right now, so visibility is pending, the video is still uploading
3:49
If I wanted to change this so that the video is public, I can click on the pencil icon
3:53
again, and then go to visibility and set to public. Or what we like to do in general is we get everything all set, maybe one of my colleagues
4:02
wants to watch the video, make sure there's nothing wrong, anything we need to change
4:06
any last minute comments, then we're going to schedule it. So we could say, hey, let's publish this on Friday, the 5th
4:13
Okay, and then choose the time. So for the Figco videos, we usually publish pretty early in the morning
4:21
So let's say 7am. Okay, so August 5th at 7am local time
4:27
And then there we go. And then now you can see right here in visibility that's been updated, save
4:35
And there we go. So we successfully uploaded a video to YouTube from our phone
4:38
There's a couple things you can't do from your phone that you can from a computer, such as adding cards and end screens
4:44
If you want to learn how to do that, check out this video up above. And if you want to see all of our other YouTube for beginner videos, such as how to record
4:50
and edit from your cell phone, check out the playlist below. Hope to see you in those and future videos
