So today I'm going to show you how to upload videos on YouTube from your phone
0:02
So it could be on an iPhone like this, it could be on an Android phone like this Google Pixel 3
0:07
or on a tablet. The process is basically the same for any mobile device
0:11
To get started, you need two apps. You need the normal YouTube app, and then you also need the YouTube studio app
0:16
With those two apps, plus a couple things you need to do within a browser on your phone
0:21
you'll be able to do everything you could normally do on your computer to make sure the video is uploaded correctly and you can get as many views as possible on your video
0:29
If you do have access to a computer, this process is a little bit easier
0:33
We have a whole video walking you through how to upload videos from a computer. I'll link to that video up above right here
0:38
But don't worry, if you only have access to a phone, you're going to be able to do everything you need to do to correctly upload your video
0:43
And I'm going to show you how step by step. So let's get started. So to get started uploading your video, click on the normal YouTube app
0:50
So once you're in the app, then you'll see a plus button at the bottom in the middle. Once you're here, click on upload a video
0:56
And so if you have never uploaded a video to YouTube before, there might be a couple of permissions you need to give to the app to make sure that it access your photos and videos
1:06
Select the video you want to upload. This is our iMovie tutorial that we uploaded a couple of weeks ago
1:11
If you're on the iPhone app, you're going to be able to trim the beginning or the end of the video
1:16
But normally if you're uploading a video to YouTube, it's already been edited. And so you don't need to do anything here and then just click on next
1:23
Then on this screen you basically need to add the title and the description
1:28
So what we normally end up doing is filling all this stuff out in a Google document separately
1:33
So we have the title, the description, and the tags. And then we can just go and copy and paste it as we're uploading the video
1:39
So let's get that opened up. So if I scroll up to the top, here's the title
1:48
Then let's paste the title. Okay. Okay, so now let's add the description
1:53
So to give you an idea, one of the things is going to be a little bit different, difficult
2:03
if you're doing this on your phone is like we're adding all these links to other videos
2:07
that we're mentioning in this specific video. So to like go to the YouTube app, copy that link, add that to the description
2:15
It's going to take a lot of time on your phone versus if you were to do that and have a couple of different tabs open on your computer
2:21
So another thing is important to add in the description. are these timestamps
2:24
So you're gonna go through the video once and then just write down all the different times
2:28
for different sections of your video. Start that at 0,000, like I have right here
2:33
And then you just add basically all the different sections of your video in the description
2:37
And then you'll basically have chapters within your video. The one thing you wanna do here
2:42
is you don wanna upload your video in public It better to do as unlisted or private That way so private means only someone logged into this account is going to be able to see it If it unlisted you could just send it to your you know your colleague your friend
2:55
your family member, whoever, they could watch the video and give you feedback before it's available to, you know, everyone
3:01
So I'm going to select unlisted. So the next thing you do is choose if it is made for kids or not
3:06
So this has to do with the Coppola. If you're creating content that's focused on kids, basically under 13, you need to mark yes
3:12
If it's not, you can mark no. I can put it more information down below
3:16
So then the next thing could be the location. I've actually never added this in any of our videos
3:20
I don't know how it really helps all that much. People aren't necessarily searching for videos on YouTube based on the location
3:26
especially for, say, marketing videos. But one thing you do want to do here is add the video to a playlist
3:31
So if you want to get more views on your videos, it's good to have videos in different groups
3:36
So here's our YouTube videos. Here's our YouTube focus videos for mobile
3:39
Here's our Instagram videos, our website videos, whatever it is. It'll help you get more suggested videos by creating playlist
3:46
So for example, here we can add it to how to start and grow your YouTube channel
3:52
And then if I click done, now it's added to a playlist
3:55
So we have the title, the description, the video is unlisted, not made for kids, no location
4:00
and added to a playlist, and then click upload. And you're going to see down at the bottom it says uploading video
4:06
So I would just leave this as is. do not upload, don't, you know, do other stuff on your phone
4:13
Just make sure that this is uploaded correctly. And then from, once the video finishes uploading
4:18
then we're going to go into the YouTube Studio app to continue to customize the video
4:27
Hopefully this doesn't take too long. Okay, so once the video is finished uploading
4:31
you're gonna see at the bottom right hand corner, the library icon turns back to how it is normally
4:35
And so the video done, the next step is to go into, YouTube Studio. From here, you want to check out the videos tab. And then the video
4:44
tab, obviously, the latest video is this one. Let's click on that. And then click on the little
4:49
pencil edit button. So the very first thing we can do is add a thumbnail by clicking the pencil
4:54
icon right here. And then what we want to do is choose custom thumbnail. And then here's the
5:00
thumbnail that we created before. We have a whole tutorial on how to create thumbnails for
5:03
YouTube. I'll link to that up above as well. Then click select. Okay, so we have the thumbnail
5:08
the title, the description, unlisted, monetization. So for the monetization, if you have a monetized channel
5:15
this is where you would turn it on, and then choose what type of ads you want to be showing on your video
5:20
and then where you want the ads to be placed. Then moving on, you have the made for kids or not
5:27
you have the playlist, and then below is the tags. So we have a whole video related to tags for YouTube I link to it up above as well But this is one of the other things that we created previously within our Google Doc So you see we have all of the tags we want to use
5:43
down here at the bottom. Let's select this, copy all of it
5:48
With the tags, basically, if you have a whole list like this, you basically, you just need to separate them with a comma
5:53
And then here we can do is paste. And then you can see here's all the different tags
5:58
that we have for this video. You can have up to 500 characters for your tags
6:04
Okay, so with that being done, then it's just a matter of save the video
6:08
I almost forgot, we have a free YouTube masterclass. If you're interested in signing up
6:12
I'll put a link down below in the description. There's a ton of tips to help you grow on YouTube in 2021
6:16
Okay, so with that done, we're 95% of the way there. That's basically everything you need to do
6:21
to tell YouTube what's in your video so that you can get more views for this specific video
6:27
But some bonus tips to help you get views on other videos. there's basically two things you can't do within either of these two apps
6:33
Those are the cards or end screens. So that's basically you recommending other content on your channel
6:39
And unfortunately, you can't do it on these two apps. That's why I didn't change this from unlisted to public
6:44
It's a little bit complicated to add those two things within while you're on your phone
6:49
But I'm going to show you how to do it. So if you open up Chrome, so I have YouTube open right here
6:53
This is the mobile version of YouTube. If you click on these little three dots in the corner, there's something similar for
7:00
using a different internet browser. But basically what you wanna do is scroll down
7:03
where we are right now. And so you see request desktop site
7:07
And then so this is the desktop version of YouTube, but on your phone
7:11
So to go to YouTube Studio here, so this is basically what it would look like
7:15
if you're on a computer right now, you click on your little icon up at the top right hand corner
7:19
and then go to YouTube Studio. From there, you wanna click on the second icon down
7:25
which is the content tab, which is all of your videos. And so you can see up above here
7:30
Here's the Imovie tutorial that we've been working on. To edit this, you wanna just click somewhere along here
7:34
and then you see where the left one, the little pencil is the details
7:39
So you can see the title in the description that we put up earlier
7:42
But the things that you can't do on the apps are these two things, the end screen and the cards
7:49
So cards right here, if we click on right now, a screen like this pops up
7:53
We probably wanna zoom out a little bit. So as you're going through editing your video and whatnot
7:58
it's good to kind of write down the times where you mention other content or hey, I'm talking about thumbnails and so I should
8:03
mention the thumbnail video or have the little card pop up. So you select the point and time of the
8:08
video and then you click on the card you want to add. So it could be a video. So if I click on video
8:14
then I basically have to say okay so here where I mentioned the create your YouTube channel from your phone And then that I going to have show up at minute 2308 Okay so what I want to do here is basically find the point So if I scroll to so if I want to add the next one at 738 now that it at 738
8:35
then click on Add Cart. And then let's add another video. And then say I mentioned the YouTube Video Editor, and so that's going to be added at this point
8:44
So if there is another one, you know, near the end of the video, so I could scroll
8:48
to minute 25. Let's say there's another video that I recommend. And so add the card there
8:54
Video. And then so let's say this is our YouTube studio setup. And so you can see it's a little
9:01
bit finicky to go and add cards for the desktop version of YouTube on your mobile phone
9:06
But here are the cards. Save. Maybe I have to zoom in a little bit and I didn't hit it right
9:14
Save. Okay. Okay. So now let's add the end screen to the video. So you can do that by clicking
9:18
right here. And then there's a few different ways to do this. You can go through an add element by
9:22
element. You can import from your latest video. You can import from other videos. You can use
9:27
these template layouts that they already give you. So if I were to import from our last video
9:32
it's basically going to add two different playlist, the one for all of our YouTube videos for
9:36
mobile phones and all of our YouTube videos in general. So right now it's set up the two videos
9:40
for the full 20 seconds of the end screen. You can basically create end screens for as long
9:45
as 20 seconds to as little as five seconds. So if I wanted to add another element, I could click up
9:50
above or I could click the plus button down below. And then you can see here are the different
9:55
things you can add. So let's add the subscribe button. So the thing here, so if I didn't want it to
10:00
be the full 20 seconds for the subscribe button, I could just move this over like so. And then you can
10:06
see, you know, the subscribe button is going to show up a little bit, you know, closer to the
10:12
end of the video. The other thing is, too, you can move the elements around. The thing is right now, it's not actually letting me play the video behind these elements
10:19
One of the issues with trying to do this on your phone. But normally we would put this kind of in the middle of the screen like so
10:25
And so now we have two playlists, the subscribe button, click save
10:30
And then basically what we can do here is within this, within YouTube studio
10:35
basically everything I'll let you do this part, which would be change the visibility
10:38
So then I would click on public, click done, and then click on save the video
10:43
I obviously have a version of this. video already up on our channel, but that's basically the entire process. You have now uploaded a
10:50
video successfully, 100% done to get as many views on this videos and also help your channel grow
10:55
by getting views on other videos. So here's our end screen. We have two playlist for you. The one up
11:00
above is to help you create content on YouTube with your mobile phone. And the playlist down below
11:05
is all of our videos to help you grow on YouTube in 2021. Hope to see you in a future video. Bye-bye
