Welcome to our daily encounter with the Word of God! Today, we are invited to delve into readings that celebrate the identity of the true disciple of Christ, the care of the Good Shepherd, and the promise of eternal life. Today's passages are in the Book of the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 13,14.43-52), in the Book of Revelation (Revelation 7,9.14b-17) and in the Gospel according to Saint John (John 10,27-30). First Reading (Acts 13,14.43-52): In this reading, Paul and Barnabas announce the Word of God to Jews and Gentiles. While many welcome the message with joy and faith, others react with envy and rejection. Even in the face of opposition, the apostles remain steadfast, proclaiming that salvation has also been sent to the pagans. The mission continues, with the disciples full of joy and the Holy Spirit. This passage reminds us that the proclamation of the Gospel is not always received with acceptance, but fidelity to Christ must remain unshakable. True joy comes from the mission accomplished and from the certainty that God guides history, even in the midst of persecution. Second Reading (Revelation 7,9.14b-17): Saint John's vision reveals an immense crowd, from all nations, peoples and languages, gathered before the throne of God and the Lamb. They are those who went through the great tribulation, washed their clothes in the blood of the Lamb and now live in the fullness of glory. God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and they will never be hungry or thirsty. This reading fills us with hope: those who persevere in faith will be welcomed by God in eternity. He cares for his own with tenderness, like a Shepherd who guides and consoles. The promise of heaven is comfort for all who suffer and remain faithful to the Lord. Gospel (John 10,27-30): Jesus presents himself as the Good Shepherd, the one who knows his sheep and is known by them. His words are of profound assurance: “I give eternal life to my sheep; they will never be lost.” No one will be able to tear them out of His hands, because He and the Father are one. This passage from the Gospel offers us comfort and firmness: we are cared for by Christ with eternal love. He knows us by name, guides us, protects us and never abandons us. Belonging to Jesus is the greatest security we can have. Reflection and Call to Living Faith Today's readings strengthen us in our mission, console us in our struggles and fill us with hope in the promise of eternal life. May we hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, follow Him faithfully and trust that He will never leave us.
