Why America's WORST Highway Bottlenecks Exist
The George Washington Bridge on the border of New York and New Jersey is one of the worst traffic bottlenecks in the nation. Crossing the Hudson, the options are slim. The next bridge to the north is 16 miles away, and the other options, being the Lincoln and Holland Tunnels, would take you directly into downtown Manhattan. For most drivers, and especially truckers, this is the one and only option, and it’s right where I-80 and 95 merge.. Because of this, it’s become the busiest bridge in the US, with 300 thousand daily drivers. There are thousands more bottlenecks across the country, some created by water, others by mountains, or just plain bad design choices, so today we’re gonna look at those 1 by 1 to explore just how bad they are, and why they exist.
