Do you ever get that uneasy feeling when you walk through the door and he immediately jumps on you? You're exhausted. You just want to drop your bag, so you push him away. But please understand, to him, you've been gone much longer. Science shows that dogs sense time differently. Time isn't measured by a clock. It's measured by the concentration of your scent. He watches your scent fade into the air. 100%, 50%, 10%. As your scent fades, his anxiety grows. You think you just went to work for 8 hours? Think about it. You have a job. You have friends. You have the world outside. But him inside these four walls, he has nothing but waiting. Your ordinary day is his century. So what was that uncomfortable jump? It was him realizing, "You're back. You're the sun finally rising after a long, dark winter. Come home a little early today. And don't forget to put your bags down and give them a hug.
