Inside Hurly-Burly Media Preview - Disney's BoardWalk's New Lounge Revealed

Hurly-Burly is officially here! Attractions Magazine attended a media preview of the new entertainment venue ahead of its Oct. 1 opening - rich blue walls, theatrical motifs, a beautiful bar, live entertainment and display cases packed with memorabilia. But look closer and it tells a whole other story. At the center of Hurly-Burly's fictional history is Polly Delmar, a performer whose career guests can follow as they move through the venue. Senior Creative Director Meredith Head told us "We tell the story through the space with the props around " and the displays are arranged in chronological order. What we found inside: - The memorabilia isn't simply decoration. The story unfolds chronologically on the walls as guests move through Hurly-Burly - Polly begins as a young ingenue in Vaudeville in the vestibule, then hits her peak with a mermaid act at the main bar - "The items that Polly is holding ... in the posters are also seen around the space" - trident, gloves, necklaces hidden throughout - "There are some secret treasures in the telegrams... some little story nods to other venues" The AbracadaBar Connection: Disney pointed out a sign-in sheet for a Magician Showcase scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 14, 1940. Prospero was the only magician to sign in. That date matters because AbracadaBar down the promenade has its own story about magicians who disappeared in September 1940. A telegram dated Sept. 17, 1940 was sent by Dylan Hurley to Morgan Murphy: "The lot of them disappeared the night before the show except for Prospero." Hurly-Burly occupies the former Jellyrolls space but this is a massive upgrade - more like a Disney Cruise Line lounge on land, with family entertainment from 4-9pm then live music after 9pm. Hurly-Burly officially opens Oct. 1 at Disney's BoardWalk. What hidden detail are you looking for first? VISIT OUR WEBSITE: http://attractionsmagazine.com SOCIAL MEDIA!
