A keyboard with colored backlight. Let's check it out
0:10
Dave Taylor here, and this time I'm looking at keyboards because there are a lot of devices like
0:15
this. This is HP's Microsoft Surface competitor. So this is very nice. It's a tablet, has a little
0:24
keyboard that's part of the front of it and everything. So it works well. You can type
0:29
directly on the screen, but if you're doing serious writing, this keyboard is not necessarily
0:34
the best option in the world. Enter this. This is the Mateus wired aluminum keyboard with RGB
0:42
backlighting. So the RGB backlighting is pretty cool, but more interesting is that it's wired
0:48
So it actually has, what is it, a five-foot cable, and it's a USB, so it goes 2.0 on up
0:55
so it'll plug into any square USB connection, and it'll work with Mac or PC
1:01
So it's really pretty universal. Of course, it'll also work with Linux machines, but the keyboard layout itself on this particular one
1:08
this keyboard layout is actually what they call the PC layout So it has things like the little cross for the cursor arrows it has a number pad on the side It actually going to work perfectly well on a Macintosh of course but keys are slightly
1:23
different. Now, each key has a two millimeter travel, so the feel of the key is hugely different
1:30
and much better than the vast majority of these super slim keyboards with tablets or even with a
1:37
lot of laptops. The trend with laptops is to have less travel, and that's all well and good when
1:43
you're just typing in a sentence or two. But if you're working on the great American novel, or that next huge presentation to the investors, a real keyboard is going to help you with your
1:52
performance and your speed. So, like I said, it has a 5 foot or 1.5 meter cable. It's just over a
2:01
It's not battery powered because it's powered off of the USB connection
2:06
And the backlighting brightness goes in 10% increments. And I'm going to switch to a dark room so you can see a little bit of the backlight colors
2:26
The colors are actually selected by this dial on the back of the keyboard which they call the Spectrum Color Dial and that super handy because you can have it be nice and bright white during the day to give you just your keyboard a little bit more interest
2:40
And then late at night when it's dark and you want to not mess up your sleep patterns
2:44
you can go to a yellow or a red. While you're typing in the dark is something you can leave and decide for yourself
2:50
I don't know why you do that, but pretty handy. Now, this key layout, this is the PC layout, and it's notable for having a tab key on the number pad
2:59
which is really helpful if you're doing a lot of numeric data, and things like volume keys, which you don't normally see on a PC keyboard
3:07
So, very nice. More importantly, there's a lot of internationalization that they've done
3:12
So, you can get layouts for US, Germany, UK, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal
3:19
Swiss languages, Nordic languages, Japanese, Korean, and Taiwanese. That's a lot of options
3:27
Now, before I tell you the price, let me ask if you can go ahead and click on that subscribe button
3:31
Really appreciate if you can subscribe, and if this is helpful, thumbs up always helps too. Cool
3:37
Now how much for this nice wired keyboard with RGB backlighting I don know what LG comes from RGB backlighting this will set you back at Matthijs And I will tell you it a very nice keyboard with a very nice feel to it So when I plugged it into things like this Surface clone
4:01
then my typing speed definitely goes up. I've been typing for a long time. I like a nice keyboard
4:07
with a nice travel on the keys because you get a good feedback system there. So this definitely is
4:14
a faster keyboard for me than the keypad or keyboard that's built in to this particular
4:19
computer. It will plug into anything. If you have a PC and your keyboard's feeling pretty old and it
4:24
has a huge amount of travel on each key, something like this might feel like a very modern improvement
4:30
and it's not a bad price. So, this is Dave Taylor. I recommend this. I think it's definitely worth
4:36
checking out if you're looking for another keyboard and all the backlighting stuff. It's
4:40
just a fun add-on and I'll catch you in my next video
