Inside this enormous box is a pair of headphones
0:03
Let's check them out. Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out what's inside this box
0:14
This huge box is the transportation system for the synaptic SE1 wireless ribbon driver headphones
0:23
And the box, they call their air guard packaging, and it's pretty impressive
0:28
So let me just show you when we open it up, that, uh, a little hard to see, but there's a pair of headphones actually sitting with this suspension on all four corners
0:42
So they don't actually give you instructions on how to get the headphones out
0:46
So I'm just going to go ahead and cut all four corners. And we're going to assume that will do the job
0:53
So there's two and three and four. So now, yes, this huge box was so we could actually have this pair of headphones
1:07
Now, there's still pieces stuck on the corners, but I assume that looks like those come out pretty easily
1:12
So let's just go ahead and do a tiny bit of cleanup here. And let's see, all four are done
1:17
So this is the synaptic SE1 wireless ribbon driver headphones, and we have gone through the Air Guard packaging
1:27
making this one of the most exciting unboxings for any headphones I've ever looked at
1:33
Now, let's see what they look like inside. And the answer is they are actually pretty cool looking
1:38
As you can see, they have this sort of headrest here, and they're what's known as over-ear headphones
1:44
So they're really big because they go over your ear, which is nice because it means they're really comfortable
1:52
The downside is that they are also really large. But that because they feature 50 your dual diaphragm ribbon speakers and they have really nice sound It also has an integrated amp in the headphones so you have a lot of dynamic headroom
2:08
Bluetooth 5.2, AAC and SBC, so notably not APTX or APTX adaptive or anything like that
2:17
but still very, very nice sound. Built-in mems microphones, so you can use this with your voice navigation system, or with Siri
2:27
or Google or any of those sort of systems. And battery-wise, it is a rechargeable
2:33
You charge it via USBC, and that gives you about eight to 10 hours
2:38
wireless and 10 to 12 hours if you're using the audio cable
2:42
because it comes with instructions. There we go. And a USBC to USBC charging cable
2:52
and a 3.5 millimeter to 3.5 millimeter cable. So you can use these and then it's wired headphones
3:01
or you can use these and charge it and then you have wireless headphones
3:05
Now I want to point out, if you use it in wired mode, they still are using that battery charge
3:10
So you're still going to need to have charged them in advance
3:14
On the side, and I think it's the left ear, the illustrations on their site show that the ear pieces should have an L and an R
3:23
but as you can see on these particular units, they don't. So it left me trying to figure out, hmm, which one's the left ear and which one's the right ear
3:32
And it probably doesn't really matter, but on one of the ear cups, you have the controls
3:37
As you can see in this close-up, USBC for charging, a power button, volume up, volume down, and that 3.5 millimeter jack
3:47
Now, these buttons do multiple purposes, as is so common, and that's detailed in the user guide
3:52
So you'll want to figure out how to do next in previous tracks and answer phone calls
3:57
and all that sort of stuff. But at the most basic let go ahead and I gonna turn these on And then it actually says turned on and then it should say Bluetooth pairing
4:10
And so now iPhone 14 Pro I'm going to go and pair them via Bluetooth and shouldn't take very long
4:20
Connected already done. So now I can just choose my favorite music source and I've been listening to a lot of Cape Bush
4:28
I have been a Cape Bush fan forever. And so Cape Bush is very much characterized by a big, very well-produced sound, very complex sound
4:38
And I got to say, these do a beautiful job of reproducing that sound
4:44
In fact, I will say these are some of the nicest headphones I've ever heard
4:49
And when I tell you, the price point, they're really quite startling. Now, I'm guessing shipping isn't free because that box is so big
4:56
But nonetheless, these are an exceptional deal at the price that they're at because they have such a good sound
5:04
And what I will say is that the sound is very rich and very precise and detailed
5:10
It doesn't have a big sound stage because it's a very intimate sound
5:14
And I've been listening to all sorts of different music with these headphones. And everything I listened to just sounded just beautiful
5:22
There was so much clarity and there's so much separation that. It's just like, wow, I don't know that I've ever heard that instrument before in this piece of music
5:31
And again, with Kate Bush, her music, there's so much going on, and it's so varied on a sort of album-to-album basis
5:39
Do we still say albums? CD to CD, track-to-track basis, whatever we should say
5:45
That it's very complicated music, and this does a beautiful job of reproducing all of it
5:51
Now, they're also adjustable, so you can pull them down a little bit and getjetable
5:56
just the comfort you want. And then of course the top parts are just going to rest on your head so that it not dragging down or on your ears and you can just keep them sort of perfectly positioned over your ears Now they not active noise canceling So if you in a loud environment
6:13
you'll still hear some of the environment. But these tend to be enclosing as a style. So it tends
6:20
to give you a very intimate musical experience and it's just pretty darn impressive. So I think
6:27
that their packaging is a little unusual. Am I? sure it's going to work real well on the shelf at Best Buy, but they also are really trying
6:36
to target early adopters and people that are willing to try something new, because this
6:41
is a different technology, this ribbon speaker system. And they're typically found on much
6:46
higher-end audio file gear that's like a thousand dollars or more, but these are way, way
6:51
less than that. So really a big fan, really like these for the style of over-ear. These
6:58
are a very good option. And in terms of the price, Well, hang on
7:02
Before we get to the price, I'm going to invite you to subscribe to my channel
7:06
Click or tap on that subscribe button. Give me a thumbs up if this was helpful
7:11
And we can stay connected. Cool. These are the Synaptic, SE1, wireless ribbon driver headphones, and they are $199 at Synaptic.com
7:24
Now honestly, I think they could double the price and it would still be a good deal
7:28
because they have really, really good sound. very enjoyable to listen to and in fact this all I got on these I hope you found
7:36
this to be a value I think I'm gonna go back to my Kate Bush so let's find
7:41
Kate here and that means that means I'll have to catch you in my next video
