A wireless gaming headset with solid sound
0:03
Let's check it out. Dave Taylor here and I'm checking out this
0:13
Well, let me take it off. This is the Exa E-1000 WT 2.4 gigahertz wireless gaming headset
0:22
And it's pretty sweet. As you can see, it lights up. It's very nice and simple
0:28
It has the ability for you to adjust. adjust it to get it to be just the comfort level you want
0:33
It has a boom microphone that you can tilt up or tilt down
0:38
And most importantly, it works wirelessly. It actually has a 2.4 gigahertz dongle
0:44
That's USBA or USB3, depending on what you want to call it
0:48
And you just plug this into your device, whatever it is. And boom, you're running wireless microphone, wireless audio
0:56
It does everything. It's really pretty slick. Now, what's really cool about it is that it features 50 millimeter drivers
1:03
so the audio reproduction is actually far better than you might think
1:07
which is really important because you want to have really great reproduction
1:11
If you're playing a game, you want it to sound the best it can possibly sound
1:15
You want to get that thumping base of explosions in the distance
1:19
and the screech of tires when you're taking a turn just a bit too fast
1:24
and, of course, that surrounds sound effects. So there's lots of cool stuff going on
1:29
It's also a true 2.4 gigahertz wireless, but if you don't want to use it that way
1:35
it comes with a 3.5 millimeter wire, and you can use it wired instead
1:40
There are some caveats, but we'll get back to that in just a second. And when you're in wired mode, not wireless
1:46
you can do full 7.1 surround sound, and they even have their own sound-based app
1:52
if you want to tweak and tune things. The app only works on Windows
1:56
But you do get more of an immersive sound if you're using it wired
2:00
But honestly, I've been playing with it wirelessly, and I find that it's a great immersive sound anyway
2:07
I don't know, maybe it's a little less surround sound, but I haven't really noticed much difference
2:12
And of course, the convenience of not having you leased to your device is a big one
2:17
So they also feature, one other cool thing, is that the microphone has a built-in environmental noise canceling system
2:24
which they say removes up to not. 96% of environmental noise. I'm going to test that in a second
2:30
I'll give you a demo of the microphone. And battery life, 36 hours of battery without the LEDs on
2:37
If you leave them on, it eats up a little bit of battery life. I don't know, maybe 10%
2:42
So it's still a solid 20 plus hours or 30 plus hours
2:46
And the headphones just turn themselves off because they not connected to anything Which reminds me there are a bunch of buttons and control on the headphones themselves
2:57
There is a volume dial, super easy to work with, and then there's the ENC or environmental noise cancelling
3:04
and that button doubles also as the mute button. Push it once and you're in mute, push it again, you're off mute
3:11
and then separately if you push and hold it, you can turn on or off ENC if you want to
3:17
And then finally, the third button, the power button, does triple duty as letting you turn on or off surround, on or off LEDs, and of course on or off the microphone and the headphones themselves
3:30
So with that all in mind, that also means, by the way, if you tilt up the microphone, you haven't muted it
3:36
So if you're used to a device that does that, remember this doesn't do that
3:40
That's probably pretty important. So what I want to do is I want to give you a demo
3:44
And to do that, what I'm going to do is I'm going to power it up. And when we power it up, you can see that those LEDs light up
3:52
And I'm going to go ahead and put it on my head. And then let's see, it comes with a bunch of stuff
3:57
We'll talk about that in a second. But I'm going to go ahead and take the dongle
4:02
And I'm using it with my Mac system just because it's out of convenience
4:05
But my Mac only has USBC and the dongle's only USBA. So had to do a little bit of fiddling there with a
4:14
adapter but that's okay. So now what I'm going to do is we're going to test out the
4:20
microphone by letting you hear what it records. But before we do that I'm going to
4:25
show you I have a little separate speaker set up so that I can do this and now
4:32
you can hear it's as if I'm in a loud coffee shop or something. In fact let's make that
4:37
even loud. All right so this is just annoying background noise but now we have something
4:43
we can test the ENC width. So let me go ahead and switch
4:47
And at this point, you're hearing this microphone pick up what I'm saying
4:53
And we can demonstrate that, but I will go ahead and I will mute it
4:57
And so you heard it mute and unmute. But now, let's go ahead and get that noise going on
5:07
And so I do not have ENC on right now. And from the button on the headphone, I can go
5:13
ahead and turn it on and now I have ENC on and you should hear a significant drop in
5:22
the background noise which is great because you know you can't always use these
5:27
sort of devices in a super quiet environment let me go ahead and get rid of the
5:32
crowd noise and switch back to my regular microphone now okay so that was kind of fun And so there the demo So you can hear how the microphone works and it pretty darn nice I mean X has done a lot of really cool different headphones that I tested out
5:52
many of them at this point. And they always do a really nice job with all the audio pieces
5:57
In fact, it's worth mentioning that the audio reproduction is pretty solid
6:02
These are great headphones. If you want to just tilt this up and listen to these from music or something
6:08
then it's going to sound really good. And of course, these sort of headsets work great with Zoom or with FaceTime or with any other system that you want
6:18
It is not Bluetooth. Remember, it is that 2.4 gigahertz. So you either need to use the dongle, which I have right here
6:26
or you're going to need to use it in wired mode using this 3.5 millimeter cable included
6:33
Now, while we're talking about what's included, it also includes a USB
6:38
to USBA charging cable, obviously fairly important, and it includes, and it's my favorite part
6:44
they have this great soft velvet carrying bag, and I don't know that I'm going to use it for
6:50
carrying the headphones, but it's just such a crime not to use this for something. It's just
6:55
such a great bag, and it comes with a user manual, but it's in so many languages that you're
7:00
looking and you're thinking, wow, it's really thick, but quite honestly, it's because
7:04
it has many, many different languages. This is a global edition of this device
7:08
and there's a lot to like here. It works with the Switch
7:12
It works with the PS4 and PS5. You can use it with an Xbox
7:16
You can use it with your PC, and then you get to take advantage of the Exa sound base app
7:21
to fine tune and tweak exactly what audio is coming out of it
7:26
And it works with mobile devices, and as you can see, it also works with the Macintosh system
7:31
So basically, this is like one headset to rule all of your devices
7:36
And if you find this really nice, this really nice then you're going to be really happy you can bounce around
7:40
different from different devices and use it now a word on comfort I didn't find
7:46
it hugely comfortable because I think that this part a little bit wide and I
7:51
were pretty big heads so what I found was that when I put them on I want to
7:55
push this part a little closer and I can't so I have more pressure on my head at
8:02
this point than at this point because the instead of being like parallel to
8:07
my skull, they're a little bit more like that. This might be something more noticeable if you have a
8:12
smaller head or you were a younger person because you have a smaller head because you're younger
8:19
But overall, it's still padded head and padded ears. So it wasn't a huge big deal, but over a couple
8:26
of hours it might be something where it not the most comfortable thing at all And I also will say that when I have it plugged in via 3 millimeter wire some of the controls acted a little bit quirky And in fact it says in the manual that as soon as you plug in your 3 millimeter
8:44
all the on-device controls are turned off. So there's no surprise there, but it's something
8:50
you might like plug it in and have it all wired into your phone or something. And then you're like
8:55
and I can't control it. What that's all about? And the answer is that some of these features like
9:00
ENC are really designed for that wireless 2.4 gigahertz usage. But, you know, if you have a
9:08
computer that has either that exact USB3 connection or you have an adapter so you can use it as such
9:17
then you're covered and you got everything and every feature it can possibly work with. So
9:22
that's everything. I really like these. I think the lighting effect is simple but very effective
9:29
I like that you don't have to monkey with different color schemes or anything
9:33
I just want headphones that I put on and I just get back to what I'm doing, whether it's a game or a conversation or I'm just listening to some music, right
9:41
So these really cover the bill. All the on earpiece controls are super simple to work with
9:49
and they give you voice feedback on every change you make. So it makes it really easy to know what's happening
9:55
And as you heard, it's a pretty nice mic. So, really the only thing we have left to talk about is the price
10:01
But before we get to the price, I'm going to ask, as I often do, for you to subscribe to my channel
10:07
click or tap on that subscribe button, and go ahead and click or tap on that notification bell icon here on YouTube
10:13
And we're connected, and you'll know about new reviews that I do. I hope it's really obvious
10:18
I'm really clear and candid and honest. I'll tell you the good and they're not so good about devices
10:24
So that's exactly what I've done here. Which brings us to the price
10:30
This is the Exa E1000 WT 2.4 gigahertz wireless gaming headset. And on their website it's 9198 discounted down to 4999 at Exa.net
10:47
So for under 50 bucks, these are a pretty solid option. And as I said, I really like the sound reproduction and I think that microphone is pretty
10:55
rockin too. E and C, as you heard, works pretty well. So with that, I think I'm going to get back to what I was listening to
11:03
So I'll have to catch you in my next video
