Wireless ANC headphones with crazy battery life. Let's check these out
0:12
Dave Taylor here, and I'm checking out these. These are the Clear Enduro ANC headphones
0:18
and they are pretty sweet. They have really nice sound, they have excellent ANC
0:23
and they have a battery life you won't believe. Now, let's start with the basics. So, they feature 40mm ironless drivers and aptX adaptive
0:34
so they're going to sound really good, and if you have an aptX compatible device
0:38
like an Android phone, then they're going to sound even better. Now, powered by Bluetooth 5.0, and the ANC, or Active Noise Cancelling
0:48
actually can drop as much as 25 decibels of background and ambient noise from your environment
0:54
and that's a lot. These are going to be really great on an airplane, on a train
1:00
if you're on your commute, if you're just walking around the city, and you just don't want to hear all of those hums and whirs and low frequency sounds
1:08
All of that is exactly right in the wheelhouse for good ANC
1:12
Now, they also have two microphones for phone calls, and the person on the other end
1:18
they say that you sound pretty good, but still, you have that fundamental mathematics
1:24
which is that my voice is going this way, and the microphones are up here
1:28
They do use Qualcomm CVC 8th Gen, so they are trying to get rid of some of that background noise
1:34
when you're talking, too. So, I found them good for phone calls
1:38
It's a little disconcerting because they're so isolating when you're on a call
1:42
That's not really how I like to do it, but they are entirely functional
1:46
especially if you have to make a quick call while you're listening to music. That'll work totally fine. Now, they also have extremely low latency
1:53
so there are no issues if you want to be streaming off your phone or your tablet or your computer
2:00
and you want to watch YouTube or Netflix or Hulu or HBO Max or any of the thousands of other streaming services
2:07
You won't have any issues with being out of sync, which is great
2:11
And so, let's talk about the battery life. These have a 60-hour battery life with ANC on, using them via Bluetooth
2:20
Now, a lot of companies will say, we have a maximum battery life
2:24
but as soon as you turn on ANC, you're going to lose half of it. Clear doesn't do that. Clear actually measures it based on the assumption, which is fair
2:32
that you're actually going to use the features that are the key elements of the headphones
2:36
So, props to them for that. Here's something even more amazing, is that a 10-minute charge will give you two more hours of listening
2:43
So, if they're running low and the little voice inside your headphones, or inside your head
2:48
says, you know, battery low, you can just plug them in for five or ten minutes
2:52
and then you're going to be good for another couple hours. Really nice. Now, one of the things about these is that they do have a pretty typical design
3:01
There's a soft, I think this is an artificial leather, not a real leather
3:05
and a metal band on the top. And, of course, you can pull these out, and then they are flexible
3:11
I wish they had a little more flex in this direction, and I'm not sure why they couldn't have done that, but they didn't
3:18
And then there are tiny indicators for left and right, but it's actually easy
3:22
because you have all these buttons on the left side. So, here's a close-up, so you can see what I'm talking about
3:29
And the buttons give you all that multifunction goodness of volume up and down
3:35
and next track, previous track, pause, play, you can answer phone calls, you can hang up phone calls
3:40
you can turn on ANC, all of that is pretty darn easy to do
3:44
You just put them on your head, and now everything's on your left thumb
3:48
But, where this gets much more interesting is that there's actually an app
3:53
So, they have a Clear Plus app, so you pair your Bluetooth device, you install the app
3:58
and then it takes over control of the headphones, and then you have the ability to, for example, adjust the ANC level
4:07
or you can actually do an equalization, and you can say, I really want even more bass than it's already giving me
4:13
and you can do that. I was a little surprised that the app didn't have preset EQs
4:19
that seems like a really easy thing for them to add, but you can certainly adjust it for your preferences
4:25
Now, one of the things that I read from other people's comments on this is they said it doesn't get very loud
4:31
and I don't know what the heck they're talking about. These got plenty loud for me, pairing them with my iPhone 12 Pro, and I was using the volume control
4:41
and I was listening to some music from Tidal, and then I was trying Sirius XM, and boy, it all sounds really good
4:50
So, let's talk about that sound, because these have a really nice, rich sound with a nice, there's a nice bass on it
4:58
but it's not bass-heavy. I would say they're actually a really nice flat response
5:03
so they sound really good with a lot of different kind of music
5:07
There's no harsh high ends or anything, if you're listening to vocals or something
5:12
but you put on something that's a really well-engineered album, like some symphony
5:17
or maybe some classic Steely Dan, or something like that, and you're going to be blown away
5:22
These will give you that old classic experience of just closing your eyes and drifting away to your favorite music
5:29
That's really nice. Solid soundstage. There's really very little I don't like about the sound
5:35
It's really good. It's really clean. It really has a nice, full sound
5:40
Now, I do have a couple of issues, however. So, the biggest one is that I don't find them super comfortable
5:47
Like I said, I wish that the earpiece is tilted in just a little more
5:52
I feel like that would give me better coverage, and I noticed as I moved around that they tended to slip back on my head
6:00
Now, it might just be that I need to adjust the band just perfectly, just so
6:05
but these are not the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. But, they are actually really nice sounding headphones
6:12
Okay, now, let's see. You charge it with USB-C, so it comes with both a USB-C to 3.5mm cable
6:21
if you want to use them wired, so that's actually pretty handy, but it also comes with a USB-C to USB-3 charging cable
6:29
because you will need to obviously charge them if you want them to last a super long time
6:33
It also comes with an airplane adapter, though every airplane I've been on recently just has a 3.5mm jack, if it has anything
6:40
And, they have a nice canvas carrying bag, which I like a lot, actually. They did a nice job with this
6:46
And, that's really everything. That is everything you need to know about these
6:52
And, these are the Clear Enduro ANC headphones. Okay, but, before we get to the price, which is obviously the only other data point you need
7:00
then let me ask, if you don't mind, go ahead and click on that little red button on the lower right and subscribe to my channel
