Your everyday carry pocket knife can be more than a blade that cuts things, it can also be a stylish tool that's always with you. Dave Taylor checks out the EDC pocket knife from CARVED, finding it to be as tough and functional as it is beautiful. Made out of burl wood and resin, and featuring a Damascus steel blade, each is a one-of-a-kind knife.

A beautiful one-of-a-kind everyday carry knife. Let's check it out
0:11
Dave Taylor here and When Carved sent me this phone case. I was really impressed. You could
0:17
check out my review but it's beautiful. It's made out of wood burl and resin and it's really unique
0:24
and they said, oh we make knives too. And I said, knives? I'm really into everyday carry knives. I
0:32
would love to see your knife. So Carved sent me their EDC, your everyday carry pocket knife and
0:39
comes in a really nice setup here. So it has a little bag for travel and then if I get this out
0:47
of it, it comes in a lovely gift box and then you open the box. Let's see which side it's on. Here
0:53
we go. You open the box and there's the knife and it is very nice. It is a substantial knife however
1:03
and as you can see the pattern and everything is on one side and the other side is sort of
1:10
the mechanism for the knife itself. You can use the little tab to flick it open and then it stays
1:17
locked open until you actually push on the side in so that you can actually fold it down again
1:24
So the knife, this part, the inlay is made out of wood burl and resin and every one is unique. So
1:33
you pick your color scheme. They have some images on their website and then they make one just for
1:40
you and even if someone else picks the same colors they're not going to get exactly the same knife
1:46
I think that's really cool. Now just as interesting is the blade is actually Damascus stainless steel
1:54
with a 440B stainless steel core and a Rockwell hardness rating of 59 HRC. What that means
2:04
is it's pretty tough. It's also pretty sharp. Now the titanium handle includes a frame lock which
2:11
is what I have now so if I push it it's not going to accidentally flip closed and if I'm holding it
2:17
like this I certainly don't want it to close and cut my fingers. So each one's one of a kind and
2:23
I grabbed a piece of wood and I thought hmm what can I use to demonstrate how sharp it is because
2:28
it's pretty sharp and I just thought let's just take a piece of wood out of the backyard and
2:33
unfortunately this wood has been cooking for years but you can see the blade is doing just fine with
2:40
this even if I'm making a little bit of a mess and you know it's not going to damage the blade
2:46
but what's also really cool is that Damascus steel also gives you resistance against things like
2:52
acids so if you're using this to cut an orange because you want to have a piece of fruit
2:58
then the acids of the orange aren't going to mess the etching on the metal so all of that's really
3:04
nice. Now in terms of dimensions let me hold it this way in terms of dimensions the blade is four
3:11
inches long by eight tenths of an inch at its thickest and it is 0.12 thick and when the knife
3:19
is closed then it is 4.1 inches by 1.1 inches by half an inch thick and that includes the little
3:28
clip it's like a belt clip there and when you open it that now makes it 7.1 inches by again
3:36
1.1 inch by half an inch and it is three ounces it's nicely balanced so that you have that weight
3:43
right there just back from the center so it's very comfortable to hold and you can see the shape of it
3:50
is cut so that it works with your fingers so it's a really comfortable knife to work with
3:56
it's really all I got there's no way I can really show you how sharp it is
4:00
but trust me you're going to want to be careful with this but that's exactly what you want
4:05
and when it's closed that's small enough you can leave it clipped to your belt or just leave it
4:10
in a pocket or your purse or something hence the moniker EDC or everyday carry so really pretty
4:17
thrilled that these guys decided to send me one of these it's a beautiful knife I have a lot of
4:22
different knives I've looked at over the years and this one's on the larger side for an EDC for
4:28
some people but it is a beautiful blade it is extremely well engineered and it's definitely
4:34
one worth checking out now we do need to talk about the price because it is not the least
4:39
expensive knife out there but before we get to the price I'm going to invite you to subscribe
4:44
to my channel and click on that subscribe button and don't forget to hit that bell icon for
4:49
notifications of new content and if this was of value appreciate a thumbs up cool this is let me
4:57
open it up this is the carved EDC pocket knife and it is $99 at carved.com and remember every single
5:08
one is unique so the combination of wood burl and resin they have lots of different colors some of
5:14
them are brighter the patterns are different it's fun to just look at the website and you can see
5:20
this is also that same sort of style that they've made for the phone case also really cool so
5:28
definitely stuff to check out that's all I got I need to go put this back in my backyard because
5:34
I don't know why I need to put it back in my backyard but that's just how I roll so
5:38
I will hope to catch you in my next video you
